Rant away, folks!
Agreed. It's tense in places, but it's basically a 45-minute long advert for the new Big Bad, which is built up well then completely goes to hell. First!Joyce's message to Dawn doesn't really go anywhere either. Some of Buffy's scenes are interesting, but to me it feels like quite a lazy way to explore a character - have her sit down with a psychologist, who then outlines her character traits for the audience. Cassie appearing to Willow instead of Tara made her scenes much less poignant than they should've been. And Xander, Anya and Giles weren't even in it!
