"Okay, okay" she pouted, quicker than normal people could have thought about it she leaped forward, with the stake in front of her. This time she hit her target. Dust.
"Ready?" Angel asked, Buffy was already moving.
It wasn't till they had moved out of Hammersmith and over to Restfields Cemetery that they met anymore vampires, three this time: one large over weight male, one over weight female and one normal girl that must have been younger than Buffy by quite a few years. Buffy went round to the left and he circled to the right, they still hadn't been spotted and they had been watching them for five minutes now, he would have been okay to check them out some more, it was rare to have such an opportunity. But Buffy was restless, so he gave in just for the peace. He smiled, she was so funny, so keen to get the job done and then get gone. He came to a headstone and knelt down beside it, noticing that Buffy had done the same he smiled again, great minds think a like, and Buffy did have a great mind, she often but herself down and said her only talents were her slayer ones but Angel knew better and so did Willow and Giles and Buffy's mom too. Buffy's S.A.T scores had been amazing, admittedly he didn't get the system but he knew if Willow thought they were good they would have to be, after all she was the genius of the group... well next to Giles.
The three vampires were bent over a grave. Helping out a new vampire, Angel thought. He saw Buffy make a move out the corner of his eye, she was standing... well crouching and making her way slowly towards them. He knew she knew they would know she was there in just a few seconds, but for Buffy that was okay she had never needed surprise her natural talent was usually enough. He could see the fourth vampire's body now in a few seconds it would be out and hungry. Buffy crept closer. The vampire pulled one leg out of the earth, the others were helping. Buffy pulled two stakes out of her waistband and jacket pocket she twirled one in her hand, she was confidence. The vampire was out, now the others were pleased there was a lot of snarling and gnashing, welcomes he thought. All of a sudden one of them stop; it was the over weight female, she looked around it didn't take her long to find Buffy. Buffy stood up.
"Hi" she said perkily giving them her best smile " I hope I'm not interrupting a heart warming moment. No wait I guess I wouldn't be, would I?" still smiling. Angel stood up too.
"No I don't think we're really interrupting" he didn't smile, good cop, bad cop, he smiled inside.
"I'm sorry honey" she directed her smile at him "And I'm being so rude" still smiling "This is Angel" she stopped smiling abruptly "And I'm Buffy the vampire slayer". That's when the first one lunged, Buffy spun into a vicious roundhouse; knocking her over a back to the grave the newbie had just crawled out of, the obese male charged her; head down, but Angel was faster; he raced forward and tackled the guy, they both went down, Buffy was there in a flash she brought the stake straight down, hard and fast at the ex-mans back, he noted the extra effort as it was always harder to penetrate the heart from the back, but as always she managed it, seconds later he was gone. There was no time to think about it there were still three more left. This time the large female stayed out of the way and let the younger one have a go. This one took more care she circled with Buffy twice and then without warning she whipped out a flip blade, he saw Buffy step back with shock, knifes were not something they usually dealt with, sometimes the occasional sword but he couldn't remember a knife ever. Buffy had to be careful.
The girl lunged, Buffy jumped backward, but she tripped and fell she landed hard, a little winded she tried to push herself up but the girl was still coming. Angel rushed the girl, but he was seconds to late. Buffy who was still winded sucked in air and screamed her hand went to her arm. The girl had slashed her in the upper arm, it was deep and bleeding quite a lot, she took the knife back and slashed again Buffy cried out in pain again; this one wasn't as deep but it was still bleeding as much as the other. Angel grabbed the girl through her off, Buffy stayed on the floor trying to stop the bleeding, Angel was angry, very, very angry, Buffy was hurt and that wasn't something that anybody got away with, Buffy through him her stake, and the girl didn't stand a chance she was dust in ten seconds. He turned scooped Buffy up in his arms. Without thinking twice about he turned and walked towards the library.

It was really quiet in the library when Angel pushed through the door with Buffy in his arm, she had lost a lot of blood but she was still conscious, just.
"Oh god! What's happened?" Giles stood up and rushed towards them "Quickly put her on the table" he worked quickly. He took of her jacket so they could see for the first time just how bad it was, and it was bad; both cuts were deep, but the top one was deepest it was still bleeding. Giles had to look away for a minute and compose himself. It was never said but there was a thing between him and Buffy, Buffy's father lived in L.A, well at least some of the time, and they never had any contact, Giles often found himself thinking of her as more of a daughter than his slayer.
"We were in Restfields, hunting when we came across three vampires, helping another out of its grave. Buffy was fighting this one girl when she pulled out a knife, Buffy tripped, I didn't get there in time to stop her." Angel sound a mixture of scared for Buffy, and angry with himself, the watcher understood. Giles ran into his office to get the first aid kit, which was fuller than the average.
"Quickly we have stop the bleeding, she's lost too much blood, we can't let her become unconscious" Giles looked at Angel his face was dark and he couldn't stand still.
"Maybe we should just take her straight to the hospital!" Angel said, he looked like he was trying not to panic.
"And are you going to try and explain what a seventeen year old girl was doing out this late at night, on a school night, and also why she was getting to fights" Giles snapped. "I'm sorry" he said "But its just going to have to are last resort". Giles reached into the pack took out a thick bandage and a small plastic stone; he put the stone in the long bandage and tied it around the top of her arm to stop the bleeding. They stood still whilst they waited to see if it worked and the bleeding would stop. It did. Giles let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding. Buffy was becoming more with it.
"Hey guys" she smiled faintly, she turned to Giles "You should have seen the other girl" Giles smiled
"Are you feeling better?" he asked
"A little dizzy headed but I'll live" her smile was fuller than before. That was good. She sat up on her own, after glaring at Angel who had started to help her "I can do it, its not like my arm came off is it" but she kept smiling
"I still have to bandage it properly. So sit still." He said gently and smiled, he was so relieved. Buffy was playing it down but she had a serious injury, centimetres more one side or the other and she would have severed a major artery and then they would have been in so much trouble. As it was he didn't know how they were going to explain this to her mother.
"Oh no! What's mom gonna say?" Buffy cried out suddenly, Giles smiled.
"I think the hole truth may not be the best idea," he said
"No, probably not. If I ever want to leave the house again" her smile faded right out and she pouted "Ouch. Giles!" He was putting an antiseptic on and stung.
"Sorry, its just we don't know how many other people... or animals she stabbed with that knife before tonight" going all the way to grim
"Ich!" was all Buffy said to that.
He finished cleaning it then he put on a gauze bandage, wrapping in around and around her arm. When he was finished she stood up, pushed some hair from her face with her good arm, then she turned to Angel.
"Walk me home?" she smiled sheepishly. They turned and walked out, Angel keeping her up with an arm around her. Giles smiled again, that's how it was here a whirlwind of activity then nothing. Buffy would be completely healed by the end of the week and there would be no mark at all in a fortnight, for now she would be sore for a few days.

The Bronze was packed to the rafters, so to speak. To get a table Cordy had had to glare a geek from the year below for a minute till he gave up his, Xander almost wished he hadn't come Cordy had talked him into a shopping trip to get some more respectful clothes, she had tried itbefore "“ more than once "“ but it didn't work, he like his baggy look. Cordy didn't like baggy. She always wore something tight; tonight she wore a small black dress with little red straps and trim. He liked it.
"This band sucks! Why did I let you talk me into coming here" she whined

here you go

Its really long and I still haven't finished it
and when I say long I mean long 45 A4 pages so far

a bit more:

"I didn't. Remember. You made me come" he really was shocked but he didn't know why Cordy did that kind of thing all the time. She glared at him.
"Well it was a good idea at the time" this time she just glared out into the crowd.
"Do you want to go?" he asked, she didn't even turn to him "Cordy?"
"Look its Jack. Jack!" she shouted, he turned to look at her, he looked confused, then the imaginary light bulb lit up over his head as he remembered who they were.
"Hi your Buffy's friends right?" they nodded "Nice to meet you again. Do you know where she is?" he asked
"She's out with Angel" Cordy said, he elbowed her "What? She is!"
"Angel" was all Jack said
"Yup. Are we gonna go?" he asked again
"Yeah okay. Nice to meet you again" she smiled too sweetly at Jack. The second they stood up their seats were taken up; they walked out of the Bronze and into the night.

"Oh god! Honey what has happened to you?" Buffy stood propped up in their hall, Angel's right arm around her waist, she must have looked pail because her mom rushed up to her, put her hand on Buffy's forehead and picked up her right hand and took her pulse, she stood back.
"Okay mom..." she paused for a long time she knew she had to show her mom at some point "Here goes" she slipped of her jacket, with Angel's help, she winced slightly as it brushed her a little to hard.
"Oh Buffy no!" her mom looked so worried "What is it? That bandage covers your hole upper arm, and that knot at the top... wait they use those to stop blood flow" her mom had gone white her hands were shaking.
"I'm okay now mom, I got stabbed, with a flick knife" her mom tried to say something "No wait let me finish, please. I was just doing a standard patrol, Angel was with me, I tripped, fell she got me twice, once not very deep but the other one, well... its not anyone's fault, so don't even think it" she paused for breath " I'll be fine in a few days. Now I'm hungry. Angel thank you for walking me home I'll be fine now" she made sure her mom had left for the kitchen. "Thank you" she really meant it.
"Anytime" he half smiled she could see the pain in his eyes and knew only half of that was because of his soul, suddenly she felt ashamed of herself, she hadn't thought of him once since this thing with Jack. They walked the few steps to the door together. She put her arms around him, he seemed surprised at first then he put his arms around her gently, he stepped away from her to quickly for her liking.
"Buffy" he said on his way out the door, turning a little "Decide soon, please" he said quietly and turned and walked away. She stood and watched him till he was out of site even to her, she turned slowly shutting the door, walked into the kitchen, her mom was over by the oven cooking eggs. She tilted her head to look at Buffy
"Scrambled?" she smiled
"Sure, sounds good" she smiled back went over to their breakfast bar and sat down "Mom its late why don't you go to bed, I'll finish up here"
"No. I'm fine, its you. You're really sure you're all right?" she looked at Buffy hard, Buffy knew she couldn't lie to her mom
"I'll be fine," she said "Its just she scared me a little, that's all"
"Okay" she turned back to her cooking "As long as you're sure"
"Yes mom I'm sure" she smiled, she really didn't know what she would do without her.
"I'm just gonna ring the guys give them a heads up about my arm for school tomorrow"
"Buffy, school really?" her mom sounded so concerned but she didn't have any choice
"Mom."
"I know"

"Willow will you please pick up that phone!" Sheila Rosenburg called from downstairs. Willow was in the bathroom doing her teeth it had been late when she had got in and her parents weren't happy. Her phone had been ring for a little while now; she rinsed her mouth and ran into to her room to pick up.
"Hello?" she said slightly out of breath
"Will, its me" Buffy's familiar voice sounded at the other end, Willow glanced at the clock on her bedside cabinet it was really late
"Buffy what's up?" she fought the nervous sound in her voice
"I just thought I'd warn you, I had a little accident tonight in the graveyard."
"What?" now she sounded very nervous
"This one vamp had a knife..." Willow didn't let her finish
"KNIFE?" she shrieked
"Will, calm down I'm okay!" Buffy tried to reassure her
"Really?" she said quietly
"Yeah. Now listen Giles knows all about it and I'm just going to ring Xander and tell him so its not such a big deal tomorrow, okay. The vamps were helping out another vamp and I'd feel a lot better if I knew that it wasn't anything... you know... icky."
"Yeah sure Buffy" she still sounded concerned but she couldn't help it "But oh... um Xander was at the Bronze with Cordy" now she frowned
"Oh... well I'll ring anyway just to see if he's back." She stopped talking "And Will, thanks"
"Anytime" and she really meant it Buffy was her best friend they had been through so much together. More than was safe most of the time, not once "“ when she had her own mind "“ had she ever thought of changing any of it "Bye" They both hung up at the same time. Buffy to ring Xander, Willow to finish getting ready for bed and finish the last few pages of that book she started over a month ago that she just never seemed to have the time for...

"KNIFE!" Xander shouted, "I hope you got that witch!" he was furious
"Angel pulled her off before... you know..." her voice trailed off so Xander filled in
"She went for the kill?"
"Yeah" she said gently "Look Xand, I'm telling you now so its not such ag deal tomorrow we have to do research"
"Cause of the helping thing?" he asked
"Yeah, look I've got to go moms cooking" she hung up straight away leaving him staring at the phone in his hand. Buffy had been on the phone line for less than three minutes, short and sharp. His first though was to ring Willow there was something about his conversation with Buffy that just wasn't right, he looked at his clock and noted the time. A bit too early, in the morning. He had been getting ready for bed when Buffy had rang, he had

ooohhhhh 3 pages very cool
and I'd better write some more we're up to page 32 now

and some more:

"Buffy!" Giles said, he sometimes forgot how quiet Buffy could be when she wanted to, now was one of them. She was wearing a long dark blue skirt but that wasn't what mattered, she hadn't covered up her arms up, she was wearing... well Giles could only describe it as a square: it cut right up to her neck and straight down at her arms. Xander voiced what he was thinking
"Umm Buff, its good to see you and you look great and everything, but don't you think it would have been wise to maybe be... you know... cover up your stab wounds. Please don't hurt me" Xander winced at Buffy's almost angry expression
"I'm not gonna hurt you Xand" she sighed deeply, Giles thought of the pressure she must be under to keep it together, sometimes he forgot she was still just a kid. "I couldn't find a top that didn't look majorly dumb with a huge bandage underneath. So I didn't have much choice. Giles I need it changed, I didn't want to ask mom..." Giles understood
"I understand". The others made themselves busy whilst he sorted out her bandage "How did she take it?" he asked
"Quite well. Considering" she smiled
"That bad?" he smiled
"Yeah" she stopped smiling "Ouch! That hurt!" she whined
"Oh come on Buff, you can't really think that we'll believe that that actually hurt you?" Xander stuck his nose in
"You do fight monsters Buff" Willow added. She had just walked through the door; unnoticed by everyone no one looked surprised. They both shrunk away when Buffy glared at them
"Sorry" they said in unison, they sounded like naughty school children.

Buffy had to stop herself laughing, she loved Xander and Willow, they were the best friends she had ever had. Sure she had had good friends in L.A but none quite like them. They had stuck with her through so much, and she knew that they would always say that she had saved their lives so many time they at least owed her that, but she couldn't get the thought out of her mind that they wouldn't need so much saving if it weren't for her and her slaying. Not that she wanted them to leave her; she just wanted them to be safe. Giles finished with the bandaging and they got down to work. Willow went and sat behind the computer console at the checkout desk
"Okay I'm ready. Give me some info" she said enthusiastically
"Okay, the person they were helping out was a girl called "˜Jessica May' she must have just been buried. So I say we find out as much as we can about this girl." everyone looked at her, they expected her to say more but that was all she had, "Umm that's it. Sorry"
"Well I can do that by myself" Willow said
"You and Cordy should go to class Xand" Buffy sighed "There's nothing you can do here" she caught the hurt look on Xander's face and added "Me either actually, I'll join you soon" he smiled sadly at her. She knew he understood what she meant so she didn't say anything else.
"Yeah okay" he gave in "Cord you comin?" she didn't hear "Cordy!" Xander almost shouted
"Keep it down, motormouth, I'm sat right here" Cordy whined and Buffy smiled in spite of herself. The two of them were such an unusual couple
"Lets go" he said, exasperated
"Fine" Cordelia said getting angry with Xander for bossing her around "Lucy we must go shopping. Soon!" she emphasised the last word. Buffy heard her mumbling as she went out the door
"Finally someone around here who knows how to shop, but no I have to go to class"
Buffy turned to see Willow staring after them too she smiled. Willow turned back to the computer, hit a few keys and sat back
"Will?" Buffy asked a bit confused, it usually took long to do these searches
"Yep" Willow glanced at her
"The search" she nudged
"Give it a minute remember this is a missing list for Sunnydale" she grinned
"Well I'm gonna go to class Will. Don't be too long yourself, okay?" she turned to leave
"I won't. Bye Buffy". She walked into the hall and was swallowed up by the late crowd, which was substantial. She fought her way her locker, found her Geometry book, and let herself be swept up by the crowd again. Geometry, wow thought Buffy could anything be more boring? Her teacher "“ well the guy that attempted to teach them "“ was one Mr. Alan, the students called him "˜The Sand man' because his voice was so low and monotonous that it nearly sent them to sleep. Buffy slipped into the classroom as quiet as a mouse tiptoed to her seat and slid in without making a noise, and without even having to turn around the low voice said
"Ah, miss Summers how nice of you to join us" she had heard that one a o many times "I was about to start taking bets as to if you were going to join us today" now that one was new
"Hum" she said in a not so amused voice "Here I am" she said somewhere between glaring and hissing. Mr. Alan shut up.
"Hey Buff" Xander whispered next to her "How's Willow's search comin along?"
