Yeah this is why I asked here haha. I am the youngest person that I know right now in real life lol. I was in the car with my neighbour the other day who commented that he didnt like this brand new music, gesturing to my choice. I had to inform him that the song was 47 years old... older than I am.
What song were you listening to?
That reminds me of something that happened to me years ago, circa 2014 or so (when I was -- never you mind.) I was sharing music back and forth with a new friend (the formerly mentioned, in
@machinewolfhear's intro thread, Dutch girl.) I was sharing stuff like Ghost of the Robot, The Wallflowers, The Calling, Three Dog Night (my favorite band.) Then I shared some older Bob Dylan songs with her. She replied, "It's not bad. Maybe I'd like it more if it was of my time." I replied, "It's not of
my time. How old do you think I am?"
😛
I had been listening to Jojo Siwa off the back of celebrity big brother, but I dont have a lot of exposure to new music otherwise ...
I've never really listened to Siwa's stuff, though I'm aware of her existence. Maybe I should give it a try sometime.
I do not want to lock myself into my teen era music and never seek new creations. It would be such a dull existence to not expand my tastes for the next 45 years.
A lot of my music is my parents' teen era music. I grew up listening to oldies on the car radio, and I certainly do love 'em.
That said, I have been trying to expand some of my musical exposure of late. I just haven't been focused on newer releases. I've been largely listening to new (to me) classical music and 1980s Japanese city pop (which, even when I don't know what they're saying, I find soothing and fun to listen to—Japanese is such a beautiful language.)
I do need more uplifting happy stuff cos otherwise I curse myself with singing the words.
I'm sure sometimes I annoy people, but most of the time, if I know the lyrics to a song, I feel the need to sing along, oterwise I don't feel like I'm getting the full enjoyment out of it. And yes, this does go for wordless theme songs of television shows. I'm sorry to my friends who have had to suffer through my mouth noise renditions of
Angel,
The Next Generation,
Stargate, and
The X-Files.
😛
Thanks for the input so far, keep 'em coming!
If I do come across anything, I'll weigh in with it, 'Ember. If you need some uplifting music, I'm happy to help. I like you, and I don't really feature you being cursed, even if it is only with song lyrics.
