I've got to say that I think Warren is THE most evil thing Buffy ever faced. He's truly more evil than Spike, Angelus, The First, or Glory. Warren was a human, technically, and has a soul, technically. Vampires, Hell Gods, and the embodiment of evil have no choice in the matter. Warren was purely evil in a way the others would be jealous of.

I see what you mean but I think I also agree with iDarthRosenburg a little bit too.

I think it's a tricky because Warren is a criminal, as opposed to a villain. He isn't a beastie, he's a human and he does something which happens in the human world. He uses a firearm to injure one person and kill another. It's so much more painful to see Tara murdered because it's 'real' to us and she didn't deserve it.

But on the scale of looking at how 'evil' is dealt with on the show, people like Angelus and Spike who have had centuries of torture and slaughter then its difficult to prioritise them.

Warren might have a soul but he doesn't have a conscience. Or maybe he actually kind of does. I think he does feel guilty for what happened, or he wouldn't have been so terrified of Willow...hmm...

I loved Warren. He made me laugh. But he was a little drastic. He seems like someone I'd be friends with, honestly. But he does deserve what he got for killing two, almost three people.

Warren's just misunderstood, he even apologised straight away to willow. Don't know why she got so cut up for....

Oh no you didn't! lol

It wasn't a sincere apology. It was because he knew he was about to be killed.
lol love you guys. he's one of my fav villians. I think he started out as misunderstood, what with building the lovebot and all that because he was lonely and didn't know what else to do... and then greed and power just corrupted him. I like the idea of a human villian, it brings more depth to the whole thing.

I think the scariest and most disturbing thing about Warren was that the normal rules of the Buffyverse didn't apply to him because he was human. We knew straightaway that the Buffy kick-ass justice we so desperately wanted could not be served in the way we wanted it to. When Willow extracts revenge, it's a BAD thing. I don't think there could have been a satisfying end to the Warren situation.

Totally agree... I think the part where she makes
him feel the bullet slowly is the best revenge. T wad
wrong, yes, but you knew he deserved it.

It's not just about the shooting. Tara's death was an accident. His attitude all along, his abuse of any kind of power he got ahold of, and his hatred of women showed him to be evil. He was a villain, where Johnathan and Andrew were "criminals." I'm still not sure how Johnathan got involved in all that. Especially after the prom and Buffy's special award. And how could Andrew become a Watcher after all this?

Yea you would think Johnathan wouldn't do such things. Buffy did so much for him.
When we first met Warren, I didn't really care for him, he was a bit creepy. I loved Jonathan, and especially Andres, but Warren is just...creepy and a little scary.

He's so evil. I have no doubt with it. I agree that it's very creepy because he's human and he has a soul. He killed a girl and felt the power of taking life, just like Faith killing Allan Finch. But Faith had Angel and she's good indeed, Warren had no-one and he's bad in bones. Poor him.

Nope, I still think he was a criminal. Simply because he was human, I always saw him as a criminal as opposed to a villain. Most of the things him and the others did were extreme versions of 'everyday/human' crimes. I don't think, actually I don't like to, tag anyone human with the label of 'evil'. It is a completely different area than 'Slayer good, demon bad'.

And Andrew could become a Watcher because people are allowed to make mistakes. You think he should have never been allowed to make some kind of amends for his actions and actually help people because he got lured into something dangerous? Giles was also part of something like that when he was around Andrew's age so I don't see why Andrew isn't able to become a Watcher but Giles is? They both are.

And as far as Buffy not being able to exact her usual justice, like she does to the Beasties, and what Willow does as being, wrong because two wrongs don't make a right. The same DON'T apply. Warren as a human criminal should have suffered the same kind of punishment that human criminals do. All Willow did by killing Warren was make her the same as him, there's not justice in that.

IMO all people have both good and evil in them. Warren got an overload of evil. I'm not willing to say he couldn't be evil because he was human. Jonathan and Andrew wanted to have a little bad fun. Their judgment was impaired. Warren was a bad guy, a real villain, and had a healthy dose of evil in him. IMO 🙂

Andrew comes off as a real scumbag, too. When Warren has those magic orbs and is fighting Buffy, Andrew is yelling "Kill Her!" Then later, he holds a sword to Xander's throat. I still don't get how he's accepted as a Watcher after season 7!

Amen to that!!

Because, for whatever reasons, people make mistakes. It doesn't mean they are 'evil' for life they are allowed to make amends for it. This is seen with so many characters on BtVS, and Angel. If it's problematic that Andrew becomes a watcher after season seven, then its problematic that Angel and Spike are allowed any form of redemption for their behaviour, (regardless of the soul/less states) and that Willow is accepted back into the Scooby Gang after her antics is season six. If all of these characters are allowed a second chance, there's no reason why Andrew shouldn't be either.

I think that in Storyteller, Buffy was really trying to get Andrew to make his amends for everything that happened, and not just killing Johnathan, but for everything he's done.

And so he does, and he proves to her and the gang that he truly repents, and thus is able to later become a watcher.

Like someone else mention, Giles did some pretty stupid, bad things in his day but he became a watcher as well.

But Andrew was never a friend of theirs like Willow, and Angel and Spike went through quite a bit to become heroes. I feel like the characters of Andrew and Johnathan should have been reversed in season 7.

I tend to agree though I see the other points as well, about redemption/second chances.
I despised Warren with passion for his cruelty, manipulations, immorality, lack of consideration for human life or his friends, etc. For me it was a shock when I found out that Adam and Amber were a couple since S6.

I agree... Even though it was only their ROLES on Buffy that made me feel that way, somehow I thought it was kinda sick when they dated. LOL

Whoa. That's bizarre! I'm on my 2nd time through the series right now, and I hate Warren so much this time. The first time through I thought he was annoying through most of his part on the show, but knowing now how things go, I really hate him.
