No, it was definately NOT a friendship love, like Xander is. Yea, it is hard to explain
 
I believe that Spike fell in love with Buffy. He lusted after her while he had the chip in his head, and fell in love with her while he had his soul. But I don't think it was mutual. Buffy goes through the relationship using him. They even explain that somewhere.

And, after reading an interview with James Marsters (who thinks the same - that Buffy didnt love Spike, she used him), my opinion is strengthened. After all, James would know better than us.
 
I believe that Buffy truly did love Spike. However, that's not to say she wasn't deeply in love with Angel as well! It is possible to love more than one person - goddess knows I do! I definitely agree that Buffy did not really love Spike in Season 6; she was obviously using him. I think Spike did love her, however, no matter how stalkery he became! Then, in Season 7, it's clear to me that Buffy started to have legitimate feelings for him. Maybe she doesn't love him in a soulmate way, but it's definitely something more than friends. Like many people have mentioned, she loves Spike differently than Xander and Willow. I mean, seriously, after watching their scenes in "Touched" and "Chosen" how could anyone think otherwise? To me, the way Buffy said "I love you" in "Chosen" couldn't be anything less than genuine. Like I said, even if it wasn't a soulmatey "I love you," she did finally realize how much she truly cared about him.

I think both Spuffy and Bangel are far from over. The jealousy between Spike and Angel can, at any point, get very interesting...

omg, in "Just Rewards" when Spike first appears he's so worried about Buffy... It's adorable how much he cares for her! I can't believe he's not going crazy from not being able to see her :: broken ... but I hear Sarah's guest starring at some point...!

C'mon, this is the only poll I've ever seen that the Bangel fans won out. Overwhelmingly, there are more Spuffy fans (or maybe I just think that because I try to only talk to spuffy shippers...)

<p>Anyway, my point is, it was obvious that by the end of season 7, Buffy loved Spike. I mean, COME ON, Buffy said she loved Riley for heavens sake, and Spike is ten times the man he'll ever be (and that's saying somthing, considering Spike's a vampire...) I am not doubting Bangel love for a second (wish I could, but apparently they're soul mates. Yeah, I know, I couldn't see it either.)
<p>Buffy is most definetly <i>Spike's</i> soulmate (even if its not vise versa), and Buffy must love Spike, even if it's not quite the way she loves Angel. They're obviously more than friends, heck more than most people are when they're dating. Spike and Buffy have somthing no one else can touch. They do indeed rely on each other, and always have each other's back. (Well, Spike since season 5 had Buffy's back, only recently did Buffy start helping our favorite vamp. I'm talking about Spike, not Angel. Spike is our favorite vamp.)
<p>Moral of my story: Yes, they love each other. A lot more than most husband and wives do. If not quite as much as Buffy/Angel. Buffy meant it when she said she loved Spike. She says she loves her friends, and Buffy and Spike are more than friends, so yeah...

I think that in S6, she was feeling bad about herself, so she put herself in an unhealthy relationship, but she just needed love from anybody and Spike was there for her. I guess she just used him and never truly loved him, IMO.

...? That's a very thin line Magui. The bottom line is the same.

In any case, like I said...James Marsters (Spike himself) has stated in an interview that Buffy did not love Spike. He believed, what was said in the ending episodes, Buffy used Spike for the closeness/comfort. Nothing more. There is no chance in hell that she could love him more than Angel. She didn't even love Riley more than Angel...and she was with him longer Spike...and they had a normal "love" life.

I think its only because you talk to alot of Spuffy shipppers because their are ALOT of B/A shippers out there, we even started up a Bangel campaign and raised over 3000 dollars to send cookies like every month to Joss and enough money to send out an ad about Bangel in a magazine so that just shows you how dedicated we are...

And I have seen alot of polls where Bangel wins and or its a draw.
