right!..she wasn't(isnt/wont be)in love with him...she loved him, that's true...but nothing about being in love with the guy

I think she used him at first, but she defentely loved him by the end of she show. Their spark has always been there.

I still think she really cared for him, but never truly loved him.

Let's put it this way:

When Angel told her that he loved her and tried not to, but he can't stop in "Surprise," she told him she did, too.

When Spike told her that he loved her and tried hard not to, but he can't stop in "Dead Things," she punched him in the face and told him to try harder.

buffy loved spike, but he wasn't her true love(aka angel 😉),she wasn't in love with him.she cared abour him and she loved him,but never in the way he loved her.

At first i thought that Buffy might be in love with Spike (that was in season 7 not 6 i dont thinkt hat she loved hime in S6 i thinkt hat she was just using hime to feel) but towards the end i thought that she might not lobe hie like at the end of chosen when Buffy said that she loved hime Spike replied with Now you dont but thanks for saying it anyway.

I think that's because Buffy didn't truly love Spike until the middle of Season 7. She obviously was just using him in S6, but by the series' end she did love him.

i dont think she really loved him like she did angel but it would have been better if she did. Angel was the one who left her he gave up on them Spike was the one who was always there for her even though he knew she never loved him, he did everything for her. He got his soul for her, Angel was cursed with his soul.

I should say not. I definitely believe she grew to love and respect him as a friend, but she wasn't IN love with him.

What makes you think you're right? Because she didn't act like a lovesick teenager around Spike?

What exactly is true love, anyway? Scrabbling "Buffy&Angel 4ever" in one's high school notebook? Going into a fit of teenaged angst and putting one's object of desire on a pedestal? Because this is what I saw in the Buffy/Angel relationship and that didn't look like true love to me. Looked more like high school first love to me. And judging from Buffy's reaction to Angel in "Chosen", something tells me that she doesn't love him the same way that she used to.

Was Buffy in love with Spike? Yes, I believe she was and might still be. Her actions and reactions to his prescence and actions lead me to this conclusion. The problem with Spike is that he had just witnessed Buffy greet Angel with a kiss, before walking away; and failed to see her reaction to the other souled vampire cool down a bit. Was Buffy in love with Spike the way she was with Angel, back in S1-S3? No. That was overblown adolescent love that she felt for Angel, back then. It was idealized . . . not real. And as I had stated before, I do not believe that her love for Angel is the same as it used to be. But she still loves him.

In fact, I would say that Buffy is in love with both souled vampires. They both understood her in ways no one else has. Her comment in "Chosen" about seeing both of them wrestling, while covered in oil has lead me to believe that she has the hots for both of them.

Highschool love is Owen and Scott... I'm gonna post Emily's rant at Wildhorses because she said it the best when people classify B/A as just a first love:

Lately a lot of people have been classifying B/A as a first love, a crush and that sort of thing. I'm a B/A 'shipper so of course I disagree. I think it's retconning to make way for new 'ships and it's ridiculous. That's not the point of this rant though. No, see, the character of Angel was only contracted to appear in one episode but Joss saw the chemistry between Sarah and David in that one episode and he used that to create this epic story that lasted the first three seasons of BtVS and then some. Whatever intents he had for their relationship, it was portrayed on screen as the forever kind. Romeo and Juliet. Forbidden love. The kind of thing that happens very rarely, the kind of thing that you want to happen to you. And I think that's part of the appeal of B/A for me. It was shown as a forever love and they had all this problems and issues and things standing in their way and they got through it. That made me think that if a couple with as much standing in their way as they had could make it then hell so could anyone. So could everyone. It gave me hope.

So, it bothers me when B/A is classified as a first love. Partially because it wasn't written as a first love at the time and if you look back at old episodes you can see it's meant to be something much bigger than that. Maybe Joss can look back on it and call it a first love now, but if that's a first love, then what the hell is a forever love? And how can people move from a 'first love' like that and live their lives with other people and find a new love that's somehow better or more important than that. No, I don't get how B/A can be called first love and I know that I'm always going to see them as a forever love. --Emily

I could post my rant, which is like a page long but I wanted to make it short and sweet so I posted Emily's.
Sorry, that first love comment always gets to me, just like when people bring up the fact that Spike tried to rape Buffy always bothers the Spuffies. Even then though, people do end up with their first loves who turn out to be their true loves also, but they weren't just first loves.
I believe in Chosen, she still loved him as much as always. She said, sometime in the future, when she is done baking. I still believe that she loved Spike as a friend, but even as a friend, don't you think she would've shed one little tear over him? ONE little tear wouldn't have taken up that much time in the show, no matter how short they were running on time. She loves Spike, she's just not in love with him. Thats what I believe anyway, I'm not saying its true at all but its what I was shown.

Oi, I have way too many thoughts. I could post a novel with all my thoughts on this, but I won't post anymore since most of it would be off-topic. 😛

Ok, I don't care what the writers end up doing because I'm sure they will be all senimental to the begining and the Bangles will get their big bang...but I agree with LadyLavinia. I think you said that quite well. I believe she loves them both. And her heart did break for Spike. The beautiful thing about people is that they often have a tendency to grow up. Just because she didn't ball her eyes out and run away doesn't mean she didn't ache for him. Look what she had lost and suffered through since Angel...she grew up. Hard and fast. She wasn't the weepy teen she had been. Look, I'm not saying that her love for Angel was not real. I'm just saying that I don't think it's fair to fight so hard against the fact that she does love Spike too...and more than just a pal. In the end everyone is going to see what they want and really, nobody is wrong. We all interperate things differently and however the writers decide to end it will be THEIR interperitation of how it should be. So I'm not too worried...for me, either way, she loves them both and what she has been through with Spike just seemed more real. And that oppinion is valid and true just as opposing oppinions are.
