Was Glory a great series ending villian?

i like glory.. she was dif from the others villains with the scary faces .. she was pretty and nobody could guess that she had all that superpowers.. i guess she was good as a finale ending villain.. but not the best.. she was nothing compared to angelus, the first or darkwillow.

Well for me, the First was the way to go. The ultimate evil to end the ultimate show.

I think it would have been a shocker to have the series ending like that with Buffy dead and Giles killing Ben.....I think maybe it would have left a different memory of the show..overall, in alot of people's minds. I'm glad they came back after Season 5.

Good post :)
Yes. She had so much character that it couldn't just be told in 1 or 2 episodes. She was a great villain. When she changed into Ben and vice versa was amazing. And plus, Joyce dieing kind of tied in with the Glory vs. Buffy fued, what with Buffy thinking she gave her the tumour.

yea it was a great season finale but im glad they carried on and it wasnt the series finale because i dont think she was a big enough evil to have ended the show with, whereas the first, the ultimate evil, that was the perfect villian to end the series with.plus im glad they continued otherwise we wouldnt have had the evil Willow season.

It's likely because of hindsight now but I really cannot imagine the show having ended with season five. No matter what you think of seasons six and seven they showed a massive amount of chraacter growth for all concerned. Growth that I enjoyed seeing.

That said, purely talking about Glory, I loved her as a big bad but I'm with Jenny. It had to be the First at the end. That was the only way to go.

The First, on paper is the best villain, but for me there should have been a different 'Big Bad' or at least someone to join with the First.
I always felt that as it was Buffy the Vampire Slayer, her finale enemy should have been something more, something that is the ultimate opposite of her.
A Slayer turned Vampire. Maybe some demonic force that imbues a Vampire with the Strength of the Slayer(the Anti-Get It Done mojo) to turn the tables.
Yes the First was cool in theory and yes Caleb was cool in reality BUT for me for the show to truly go full circle, it should have been a combination of the above. That would still have been a season steeped in Slayer Mythology, infact more so.

I loved Glory. I thought she was the best villian there was. Its nice to know there was something that wasn't stronger than Buffy.

I liked Glory heaps and thought she was very entertaining, but she wouldn't have been a good enough series ending villian for me. I think the best Villians on Buffy (Angelus, Faith, Willow) have been that damn good because they are scarily human. The First was very cool because although it wasn't human (like Glory), it dragged out so much vunerability for the Scoobs, and that they overcame it, that's what I call cathartic.

glory really annoyed me. but she was good character. really i would have like buffy to ended like the gift buffy dying that would of been a great ending.

but not saying season 6 and 7 wont good cos season 6 was just did not really like how they ended season 7 would of been better if she died.

what do you guys think?????

I Dont Think Glory was A Good Villan Much.
She Had A Mortal Side To Her. [Ben]
And When It Came down To The Last Episode....She didnt survive Till the VERY end of it.

Eh, I liked Glory and I didn't. She was interesting, but too often her "humor" was just lame. The actress is quite pretty most of the time but I thought she was ugly in all the red they had her dress up in. A goddess shouldn't be ugly, no matter how evil she is. That is...if she's in human form.

As for blaketata's statement, I think her having a mortal side made her more interesting. She'd be completely boring otherwise. And also, she needed a weakness and Ben was it. If she hadn't had a weakness, she would have succeeded in her plans because Buffy (and Giles) would be unable to stop her.

The only reason I would be annoyed if the series ended here is because Buffy died. I would have been just as pissed if Buffy died after the series finale.

If the series *had* to end with season 5, I'd say that Glory made a pretty good villian. Buffy was up against someone who was, in a way, similar to herself: a seemingly normal girl who has more power than others expect, and (even though I'm probably stretching this a bit) how she balanced that with her human side. Sure, Glory is no First, but she'd definitely make a better series finale villian than say, oh, Adam.

She's not my favourite villian but I think she served her purpose and I like how she tied up the end of season 5. I also would have been pissed if the end of the show was Buffy's permanent death.

If the story had ended at Season Five, regardless of who the villain was, it would've sucked majorly.

Spike wouldn't have gotten his awesome chance to play the hero for once, nor would he have been able to play the mentally disturbed vampire who had actually sought out a soul, who'd been torn apart by his love for the slayer, which was awesome for me to watch, since Spike is my favourite character, and to watch him change so radically was great, it was a change, not to mention James is an awesome actor.

Plus, we wouldn't have gotten to see Evil Willow, or the Turok-Han, or Caleb, or any of those great villains and storylines.

Glory was a great villain and I enjoyed watching her, but it just wouldn't have cut it, in my opinion, as an end to the phenomenal show that Buffy is.

Well I didn't like Glory because she reminds me of some of the B%&&es I have to deal with everyday in class but she was an important part of the whole storyline and I actually thought it was an interesting one. I just didn't like her personality but as a whole...yeah I think she was good.

i loved glory, but i don't think she was the best villain for the end of the series. I think the first evil was the best suited for the role, but it wasn't carried out as well as it could have been.

Glory was good. i liked how they didnt take the series incredibly seriously and instead made her like a spoiled teenager. i thought she was pretty funny at times

yeah, she was one of the funnier big bads ^-^. her interactions with the minions were fun, and as Buffy pointed out, she isn't unlike Cordelia, lol.
