I am confused about this..I agree with jasmine saying well..billions can live..but hey it would suck if you or your whole family was in some of those thousands..also I understand why angel was upset about that..I mean if she is such a great god..then why would she have KILLED innocents? IMO that is just wrong..and I would rather have a crappy world..than no will at all..

Well, In this case the apocolypse happened to be world peace, the only problem is the loss of your rights. No one wants this to happen. It's just a sacrafice Angel had to make. Sad but true.

This was a very complex issue. If you look at the pure numbers, then Jasime was saving a bunch of people. However, everything Angel said to her was right. The Price was just too high.

I mean, what would you do in that situation? Eventually she'd run out of people to eat, and that would be very stupid. She wasn't trying to make world peace, she was trying to play god. She would have only been left with herself.

Well, with 6 billion people on the earth producing what, 150+ million babies a year? She'd have to eat a whole pile of people pretty darn fast to make a dent in that volume... Let's see, at 86400 second in a day, and assuming she didn't do naything else, that's what, several people a second? And that's w/o reducing the population, only holding steady...

But even so, I thik angel made the right choice. There was a greater principle there, good or bad.

Yes but sooner or later..what would happen when the glamour faded..or some people saw through that? I had a problem with the fact she took away free will..if she was such a GREAT God..why couldn't she have just killed everyone at W&H and left it as that..or just kill those who are evil..Heck no one would reallycare if she ATE only evil people? But she killed innocents..that is just never right.

But then it has to be decided who's innocent, what makes you evil.

If you kill someone you could be classified as evil, but what if your one of the innocent people who hasn't murdered anyone but doesn't give money to charity's that feed the starving in people. Technically those people aren't doing anything to stop those deaths, so could they be classified as evil?

See, I saw this whole senario as a take on the Conspiracy Theorist 'NWO' plan.

Basically one governing body will control the affairs of the planet....however.
If you go deeper into the conspiracy, you find that people see other elements to the NWO other than just one Governing Body.
For example, the introduction of Medical Chips insertted in the Human body.
Its theorised that thses chips will determine the 'worth' of operating on someone, which sounds like a good thing, until that is the worthiness isn't based on chance of survival, its on factors such as wealth, societal status and possible contribution to the world.
Also, it, again, is theorised that these 'Chips' could be part of a grander scheme to 'monitor' peoples thoughts, beliefs and musings.
Again, you could argue, if you have nothing to hide then its not a problem, however what if your thoughts are just contrary to someone importants opinion. What would be the point of monitoring them if no action was taken?
All this is based on Theory remember.
There is also a school of thought that all these implants that will contain every piece of your personal information, may have other effects such as Control, which is akin to loss of free will.
OK, i went on for far too long and probably bored most of you, but honestly my point is, there is a train of thought in come communities that this loss of Free Will is something that, unless stopped, will hit us in reality and with that in mind, I can honestly say, no matter what the price is, I will take Angels course of action anytime.

You can be a serial murderer, thief, swindler etc what seperats demons from the others in the world is a soul.
As long as someone has a soul they have the potential to be good or seek redemption yada-yada.
That is what makes a soul unique it gives you freewill on how you decide what type of person you want to be. So Angel gave everyone their freewill back because world peace depends on each individuals desire for what they want. Not a spell that tells them what they want and that is what Jasmine's glamour spell did.

Hm..well sooner or later the glamour would fade..and someone would see past it..what kind of great God will kill innocents?Yes, it depend on who/what you would call evil..but hey W&H is the definition of evil. But then again you could argue that killing everyone at w&h was wrong..and that murder, killing is never justified..but they sure as hell did not deserve to live in the new "peaceful", world..or heaven..whatever you want to call it..

Well it reminds me of a philosophy theory..cannot think of it at the moment..brings me back to a test question that asked about the good and evil being necessary..

Well free will I guess was given in order for us to determine our OWN destiny, our fate. Not one of our completely alike..or the same, so I can see why it would conflict with Jasmine's "true" path for everyone.

Also my theory is that I really do not see how good could exist without evil. Same as evil could not exist without good. I think it was on Angel or Buffy..yes..buffy when someone mentioned that there HAD to be a balance of good and evil..or it would throw the universe out of whack..

For example, (imo) if there was only good things such as hope, faith would not be necessary..because you do not have anything to oppose that. What would be the point of kindness, and love if you did not have something fighting against it? Not sure if I am making any sense..but yeah. There has to be a black, and a white..a good..and an evil. They balance eachother out, and when buffy died and was brought back I guess maybe it put good on a sort of higher scale, which is why the first came back, and that threw it out of whack once again...which is why she was able to get the amulet..

Same with the world peace..it would be great for a while..but then what? What would drive/motivate them to do anything?

What would drive/motivate them to do anything?

Congrats.

A persons actions are dictated by their needs, and ultimately that desire to be happy.

When people speak of 'evil' it is from a subjective feeling of pain and hurt, and inevitable death. To remove suffering, this evil, is again because of the desire to be happy. Searching for happiness in whatever form we envision is what makes us human.

Perfection, to Christians, means perpetual happiness. If we are always happy, then we have no need for anything. There would be no motivation, we'd just barely exist(probably drooling from the mouth).

Put a monkey in a box. Have two buttons in the box. The button on the right gives the monkey a moment of pleasure, the button on the left, pain.

NORMAL monkeys will press the lefthand button once, get zapped, and never press it again. It will press the button on the right for a little thrill, a single moment of happiness.

Make the monkey perpetually happy and he will do nothing.

Indeed! It's why Angel would be boring if he actually was redeemed.

And I like my free will.

I agree. To have a positive you must have a negative. Without evil, there is no such thing as good, which is why I think there will always be evil in the universe. And why there will always be pain and hurt. Those bad things make you appreciate the good.

Without evil there can be no good, so it must be good to be evil sometimes.....I love Southpark:)
