Was Oz a boring Character?

Watching Oz in Season 3 made me realize, he really is a boring character. Does anyone agree with me? He doesn't make any expressions, his lines are always short and to the point, and he only speaks when spoken to. It seems like he's only there to follow Willow around and be labeled as "Willow's Boyfriend". At least Anya, Cordelia, and Tara had a lot of personality going for them and weren't labeled as "Xander or Willow's mates". I sort of understand why Seth Green wanted to leave the show after a couple of years, it seemed like he was waisting his time there when he couldv'e starred in a lot of movies instead.
 
Yes, I suppose Oz could have had a more important part. I mean sure, werewolf and everything, but his character couldn't really be developed at all. Seth Green wanted to leave? lol, i didn't know that, but I could understand why. But I still thought Oz was an awesome guy!
 
I don't think his character was boring, he was a complex character but it was internal. We like Angel's broodiness, why not Oz's internal thinkiness? I can see where the boring idea comes from but I know people like that, they're a complex being. He may not of spoke much but everytime he did it was funny or insitefull or etc.
 
I don't think he was boring, I think he was just sidelined a bit so we never really saw enough of him to get a full idea of what he was really like.
 
I dont agree with the boring part...but I agree that he didnt really have a huge role on the show...but thats what I think he was there for...

He was an average guy...but he wasnt...cuz he was a werewolf...its very much like Riley...Buffy says that Riley was supposed to be 'The boring boyfriend' (as Anya points out is what she needs 😛) but he turns out to GI Joe...

And...Im completely babbling and am talking about something different arent I...
 
Was OZ boring? Not at all. My opinion. Bored maybe, but never boring.

I love his laconic, unflappable manner.

Hey, remember that part in Innocence (I think) when Buffy blew up the Judge with the Bazooka, then told the Scoobs to clean it up? Oz walks over to a pile of Judge bits, points at it, and says, "Arm.". Vintage Oz. How is that boring? I think it's hilarious.

I wouldn't call him boring. I wish they had showed us more of him, what he was like, but I loved him the way he was also. he was the silent type who didn't say anything if it wasn't worth saying, and whenever he opened his mouth something funny or clever came out of it. I loved that about him.
 
He was quiet... and misterious...
In Earshot Buffy listens Oz thoughts and he have deep thoughs... only he didn't speak a lot.
 
Many of your points about him are true...he was quiet, rarely spoke unless spoken to, and when he did he said as little as possible, and with no expression, but that didn't make him boring. I think he was far from boring actually. That was just the way his character was, but he was actually quite interesting in my opinion. He was able to make those short, rather expresionless quotes rather memorable.
 
Personally I loved Oz's character. He was never boring to me. Some of the lines that he would come out with, though short, could add humour to an entire episode.

that's completely how I feel about him. Several of my favourite lines from the show as a whole are thoes spoken by Oz.

I think that his "trademark stoicism" and calm in the heat of battle characteristics are part of what make him so interesting... Not boring.

I found Oz boring. Seth Green doesn't do stoicism very well.

Oz was awesome! His personality was like a combo Spike, Willow, and Tara. The monotone was the ingredient that was Oz. When everyone else was sort of hyperactive at times, he evened it out a little.

But I think...if say...Xander and Oz were the same...that would've made the show boring, because if you think about it...no one in the Buffy or Angelverse is like another character...well...not on the same show anyway...

They all have a special quality they bring to the show...
 
I don't think he was boring at all, his role was minimal compared to others but when he was around he was quirky and boosted the moments, I think he did slack a lot but for the duration of him being on the show I can see by having him there defiantly excited things up even more.
 
When Oz was thinking in 'Earshot', {"We think, therefore, she is..."} it made me realise what a deep character is. He wasn't boring at all, but comlex, stoic, and honest. When he threw the supplies for destroying the box of spider things the Mayor wanted, because Willow was in danger...it showed the true Oz...loyal and brave, for those he loved, in the face of danger...I LOVED OZ. Too bad he went, but when he did, it felt like he was supposed to. Seth did a great job, and shows not only can he play for comedy, but for drama as well...

{Yes, the "Arm." line, after they blew up the Judge, was true Oz.}

Yeah, I loved that scene in Earshot. It's always hard to know what Oz is thinking, it was interesting to get inside his head, even if just for a little while. And when Willow was in danger, I loved that episode! It was so sweet when he got all mad. I love him!
I also felt like he was supposed to leave. I miss him, and I loved him, but I can't really see a place for him in later seasons. It would have been nice if he had come back for guest appearances, but nothing more then that.
