GOOD point! I was shocked that any of the scoobies did that, let alone ALL of them. Even Dawn. It was... I'm trying to think of a bad enough word to describe that kind of betrayal and it's just not coming.

GOOD point! I was shocked that any of the scoobies did that, let alone ALL of them. Even Dawn. It was... I'm trying to think of a bad enough word to describe that kind of betrayal and it's just not coming.
To me it was a culmination of what had been going on for years. No matter what good Buffy does, the Scoobies will always pounce at the first sign of something going wrong. I admire them for what they gave up to help Buffy, but she never asked for them to do that, infact she asked them not too. However, they seem to throw it in her face whenever the chance presents itself, Xander knows war comes with casualties and consequences but he reacted like Buffy planned for him to get hurt. Personally I was disgusted by their betrayal.
But Angel had left Buffy to have his own mission, Xander on the other hand stuck by her side 'til the end. Spike also gave up on Buffy and stayed in LA, instead of looking for her.
So I think Xander gets more points for sticking by Buffy's side since the moment he met her, while Spike and Angel chose to leave her for their own missions.
I don't think we are going to agree on anything Xander related! I can't stress how much I love his character but where you see his side I see Buffy's. But that was a fair point he did stay with her. But that doesn't make him any less of a sh!thead for the other things he did i.e. 'kick his ass' and kicing Buffy out.
I was arguing about you giving Spike and Angel credit for deserving to be with Buffy, but because Xander made a few mistakes he doesn't deserve to be with her when he still stuck by her side, even though he's not perfect, and Spike and Angel left.
I see Buffy's side, I love Buffy, she's my favorite female character, but I can see Buffy and Xander's side as well. In Empty Places, I sympathized with Buffy and the Scoobies both, Buffy, Xander and Faith more than the others, but I sympathized with them all, and I can see the point of view of each one.
I posted this elsewhere, but I think it's place should be here: "In Empty Places, I actually sympathized with Xander, he was blindly following Buffy and was understanding that she didn't want to spend time with him at the hospital, but he couldn't go back to the same place where he lost his eye, especially when Giles revealed that Buffy didn't trust them, anymore. It does burn when you give a rousing speech about trusting someone, then you lose a part of your body because you trusted that someone so much you followed them regardless of your doubts, and in the end your discover that that certain someone doesn't trust you or think highly of you. Such a blow."
About Kick His Ass, Xander was in the wrong to hide this from Buffy. I wish the writers had dealt with this in S3.

Ok fair enough he stayed with her and he lost a lot for her fight, not just an eye, but like I said on the other thread trust was a major issue with them and I think THAT is the main resaon why they would never work.
