Well, Buffy and Angel are both two of the highest grossing TV shows when it come to DVD sales. I believe Buffy might in fact be #1 while Angel is somewhere around #3. Assuming the networks get a piece of this it could make the show worth keeping around for monetary reasons despite relatively low ratings.

All I know is neither of them can be # 1, because Ive read in various articles that the top selling Tv show on DVD is Simpsons.

Actually I just found the article where I read it. The top ten list that it provides is as follows:

1. Buffy (S3)
2. Band of Brothers
3. Angel (S1)
4. Oz (S2)
5. Simpsons (S2)
6. South Park (S1)
7. The Shield (S1)
8. Simpsons (S1)
9. STnG (S7)
10.Six Feet Under (S1)

So, the Simpsons makes the list twice, but for different seasons, which means different products. Keep in mind this is the list for this current year. Chances are the articles you read based their findings off of all sales this year for any DVDs based on a TV show and added seasons together, which just doesn't make sense. They should have either gone with current sales and examined every product on a case by case basis or gone with total sales and looked to previous years (which would mean adding the previous years sales for Buffy seasons 1 and 2). In the system the articles you read probably used, Buffy is unfairly penalized because it released season 1 and 2 earlier on and all initial sales of those products don't get taken into account so its place on the list would be due to the sales of only a single product, while the Simpsons benefits from the total revenue of sales from two different products (as far as attempting to rate their success on DVD I would think this would give an obviously unfair advantage to the Simpsons).

That list is like a week top ten, which doesn't say much... but anyway you're right, Buffy and Angel are some of the shows with better dvd sales because even if they have less fans than say CSI, they have loyal fans, really loyal fans who buy stuff and keep watching even when the show is not as its peak like what for some people were season 4 and 6 of buffy....even though i actually love those seasons.... if CSI starts going bad and predictable, in a heartbeat the ratings will drop....

what surprises me is that even thought Angel's ratings suck... i'm sorry but they do compared to other WB shows... i keep reading on tv articles that the WB is happy with the ratings

OK, My information was put together like this:

They see how many copies of all the seasons of whatever show have sold all together, since they came out. and that detirmines the best seller, except for the fact that some shows have more season, so the numbers were divided to represent an avergage amount of DVD's sold per season per show, and simpsons was #1. I think Buffy was pretty close though, and since Season 3 hasn't been out that long, it might beat it out.

I believe that is the fairest way of determining the stats though. Sorry I cant find the site, I have no idea how I got there..

I hope theres a season 5! I think Angel will be sorely missed if it ends (along with buffy).

I hope so !!! Season 4 is my favorite season and i don't wanted the show finish toguether with Buffy.

There seems to be many loose ends left untied. I don't see how they could possibly tie them all up in the few episodes remaining. On the other hand, that didn't stop Bird of Prey from being cancelled...
