Gossip Girl: Because I'm Worth It.

It's one of the best GG books so far.
 
The Sea of Poppies by Amitav Ghosh.

Historical fiction about a slave ship that was refitted after the Civil War to carry opium, convicts, and indentured labourers for the East India Company during the height of the Raj in India. Fascinating.
 
I just finished Gossip Girl: Because I'm worth it (Okay, I actually finished at 1 this morning, but that's irrelevant) and I'm actually getting hooked on the series, to the point I've already asked my Mum if I can go to the shop to get the next one. However, considering the amount of books I got for Christmas, I think I'm going to work through them first. I'm going to start, I think, with the second Hunger Games book, as the Hunger Games was my favourite book; but I never did manage to get into the second one, as I was reading another book at the same time, and I only ended up half way through. I might start at the beginning again. 🙂

even though i hate twilight , i loved this book <3 the tension between jacob and edward!
I've been reading a pretty cool graphic novel called Sky Doll, a science fiction tale about a sex robot who's mistaken for a deity. The art is Disney-esque with mature overtones, which is fitting because the artists used to work for Disney. The story is a bit reminiscent of A.I., and the religious themes are familiar, but the overall vibe is unique.
 
I just read the graphic novel Pride of Baghdad and started sobbing at the end. Damnit, Brian K. Vaughan, you get me every time! I highly recommend it, though...the writing and art are excellent and it offers a really interesting view on the situation in Iraq after Saddam Hussein's downfall. Plus it sticks with you even though you can finish it in one sitting.
 
Finishing up Pride and Prejudice, and I'm beginning The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat (and other tales).

Can anyone recommend me a good fantasy book to read?

Fantasy- wise, if you haven't yet read Harry Potter than that's a good place to start. If you have, I really enjoyed the Mortal Instruments Trilogy.

I definitely would NOT recommend Twilight, however. It seems good when you first read it, but if you look closer it's absolutely AWFUL.

The Lost Years of Merlin is also pretty good. I read it when I was nine though, so it may be a bit easy.

The Peter series (Peter and the Starcatchers) is also quite good. It's prequel of Peter Pan, but WAY better than the movie. They're young, but it has adorable romance and action.

Again, my "fantasy phase" was when I was younger, so most of those will probably be pretty easy to read.

The Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat is pretty much a classic among Psych students :)
As always I've been re-reading The picture of Dorian Gray, which is a fantastic book.
Also I'm reading the collected stories of Alexander Pushkin and I'm thinking about picking up a copy of Amber Benson's book; Death's daughter.
Has anyone read it?
 
Last night I started Evermore, the first book in the Immortals series; and whereas I thought I'd hate it, it's really good. I think the character of Ever is really interesting, and Damen is just a mystery to me. I'm around halfway through already, even though I've been really busy today and haven't had much time to read. It's one of those books which I can't put down, which is actually a rare occurance for me, these days. The storyline is interesting, and not too much like anything I've read before. So far, it's a good read.
 
I've been having problems getting into a book lately, I've started about three and then just gave up. I've started to read "The Gunslinger" now, the first book of the Dark Tower series by Stephen King and I'm stuck again. I can't remember a time when I couldn't read anything 🙁

If you haven't read those already, I can recommend "Harry Potter" and "The Lord of the Rings", two of my all-time favourite book series. I think they're a must-read. 😉

I also like the "Avalon" series by Marion Zimmer Bradley, especially "The Mists of Avalon". But they're really long-winded and detailed and I know a lot of people who got bored and just gave up. But I think it's an excellent read.

I'm also a fan of German author Kai Meyer, he writes excellent young adult fiction (I'm not too much a fan of his work for adults). I recommend the "Flowing Queen" and "The Wave Runners" trilogies. As I am German I've only read the originals and don't know how well the translation is, but they're good stories.

But don't read Eragon. That was just very, very bad.

I just started reading The Elegance of the Hedgehog.
It's a really difficult read (I need to keep a dictionary handy), but it's pretty fabulous.
 
I just finished reading Transformers "Twilight's Last Gleaming". It's set in a universe where the Decepticons killed Sam Witwicky and won the war.
