What are your fears ?

Not to sound like some cheesy 'acceptance' ad or whatever, but I find that there's no such thing as irrational fears; any fear is rational for the person dealing with it, if you ask me.

I've heard of people that try to force their pets upon someone with say an irrational fear of cats or dogs (at least I never heard of a snake or spider owner trying this), and then the pet owner gets upset when this doesn't cure the person of the irrational fear (I can believe this, someone who loved her yapping dog thought that exposing me even more to its yaps and handling its slobbery ball would make me fonder of her dog when it did the opposite and I finally stopped doing business with her as it wasn't worth it). I'd love to hear you explain to someone who loves her little Pekinese why fear of the her dog is rational. 😀

To the general audience: I have many fears, but they don't actually create anxiety, at least not until they become rational, or at least cause for concern.

There was another bloody baby snake in my yard last week. I saw it 4m from where I sleep. (On the outside of the house, fortunately)

I am interested in those who fear death - why? Does anything sooth it?

I dont fear death but I do fear pain.

Don't feel like saying why (it was many factors, including BB threads of late but those merely contributed to the primary cause) but I got to thinking hard about my death. Death itself does not scare me, but I expect dying to be very unpleasant (I envy Joyce's death in The Body, I hope I go like that, perhaps even about that age if a little older, though I'd like to skip the surgery and temporary insanity please 😉).

People generally think that those who lived good lives with good memories will find it easiest to let go, but I'd think they'd hate to lose their life more than someone who had a bad life (but then I don't believe in human-centric forms of justice shaping any existence after death). For all the bad I've endured, I've also enjoyed so much about my life and have people I love and care for deeply, and worry about, and though I fear the death of some of those people (even my own grandmother) more than myself, the thought does bother me. I know that my body will fight to live and that will fill me with panic. I'd like to die with dignity but I wonder if I can if I'm conscious for much of it (especially if I'm conscious for hours or longer as I die) while the parts of my brain that allow me self-control are shutting down or just being plain overwhelmed.

Though the fear that has been haunting me the most was remembering a time in which I had completely accepted I was going to die. I still didn't give up, but I really didn't expect to survive as I did. And I fear that when I die and my brain starts shutting down that I may start to think I'm at that really terrible time in my life again to relive it, perhaps believing this life I had was all a dream. I've always had a feeling that part of me DID die that day and my body (some astral shell of it anyway) is sort of still there on some ethereal level unseen by others, and now I'm fearing that when I die that I will again be in that other body experiencing what I did back then again, perhaps forgetting all that came after, and that is deeply disturbing.

I try to stay positive. There has been so many good, exciting moments, one in particular that I feel my dying body would smile if my life flashed before my eyes as I died. But it does scare me. I don't want to go back there. But of course that's the PROCESS of dying, not death itself.

Being in a coma also feels me with dread as I know some are somewhat conscious through them, but unable to move. Some remember nothing, other remember surreal dreams based on the people around their bedside as they lay in a coma, and in the worst cases a body might jerk and cry out, fighting to escape a prison within their own mind, but failing to, some never to reawaken.

I dont fear death but I do fear pain.
That's all the thing for me. I'm not afraid of death, everyone die one day, but I'm afraid of the way I will die because like every human on earth I don't want to die in pain but in peace

And that's why I advocate the use of cannabis for these times, no better pain drug on earth. (And I should know, I've taken most of them lol)
When death comes for me, I will be ready for it, ready to leave and move on. Death is currently such a sad practice, it should be filled with celebration and joy, an ascension. The only time I see the point in holding a wake after the funeral, is in sudden death. I feel the celebration should be during the throes of it, starting just before, when they are drifting from this consciousness, but as they wake, they are at a wonderful party surrounded by those who loved their life. More often it seems those who die long deaths are surrounded by grief and sadness, surrounded by sad offspring begging them to hold on. It should be as joyus a time as birth. Can we as humans reframe it and see this as the labor pains of a rebirth? What makes us afraid of that?

Yeah I'd also say death as a fear, but it's not so much a fear of pain, but a fear of no longer being conscious in the world. I don't really know how to explain it.

But if we're talking creepy crawlies and whatnot, I utterly detest woodlice. I can happily let a spider crawl across me and not care but a woodlouse will cause me to boke. Very bad experience as a child has scarred me. 😛

I fear losing my job and loved ones and having to live on the street. It would be hard for me to find another job in my career field and I don't have a lot of family or friends. My family is either older and will need to depend on me soon or young and jobless.
