Seriously, what are the things you strive for? What do you want to accomplish during your time on Earth? Do you want to be a published author, learn another language, or get married and start a family?

I suppose what I'm asking is, what do you dream of being and/or doing? And are you working towards this goal?

As for me, I'd like to learn Russian, Japanese, and Norwegian. Also, I want to learn bass guitar. Am I working towards these goals? Uh, not at the moment. But I will. 😅

Your turn! Share your dreams with us!

Babbel is running a great sale now!
Go to college and do evening classes in a few years time. I hope in the future to work in the field of psychology or wellness and maybe a side job in data entry. I’m working towards this goal by doing part time courses at my local education centre. All courses I’ve done there have helped with my personal development.

Would you get a degree in Psychology?
My dream job right now is to be a Field Archaeologist- I did work as one for a while and I'm applying at different companies now to do it again. Long term after a few years of experience I hope to move up and become a Project Officer on sites and roles like that because being a Field Archaeologist involves quite a bit of manual labour and I enjoy it now and I love being outside all day but I'm thinking that when I get older it would probably be best to have a role that doesn't include as much physical stuff.

Otherwise, I just hope to become an auntie (but that's not my choice) and get some cats or dogs or both. I'm on the fence about marriage, it sounds really fun to have a wedding and honeymoon but then after that, it's a bit scary. I'd love to have children but sometimes I'm not sure I could handle the pressure and responsibility. It could go either way 😅

I'd do archaeology if I had my time again.
None. I did all my goals. I dont really have anything left that I want to strive towards. Its just existing til I die now haha. No sad reacts, its not sad, its just true.
I am content with it.

Most of the women I was in the psych wards with only made it to mid 50's, at most, after all those years on medications, so there is maybe 12 years left for me. I am happy to run down the clock in "retirement" mode til then. Its a much easier life not to push so hard. I wasnt happy with this pace and joblessness 5 years ago, but I have to accept it now. Its more peaceful that way 🙂

“No sad reacts”. I will meet your challenge. I am glad you are content with your life, in all seriousness. :)

I wish I could get a rifle so that I could shoot all the damned Crows, they kill that many ducklings each year and at the moment they are eating the Wren's eggs. Mind you as I have the tremors in both hands, if I did try to shoot a Crow I doubt if I'd be able to hit the tree the Crow was in. Anyone got a tank I can borrow?

Just use a tripod or a bench rest!
I don't have any - never have had any - I just let things happen. Done the marriage/kids bit. The latter was more successful than the former and both lads are happy in their "dream" jobs. Done the education bit (BA/PhD). Had a career I really enjoyed (University lecturer), which earned me friends for life and enough to retire early when the time was right. In retrospect, it was probably a dream job.

If I have any goals left it's to move house - which I could do if I stopped talking about it and got my arse into gear.

Good for you. Bite the bullet and go for it. One of my lads is a psychologist - it was his dream from the age of 16. A'Level/BSc/MSc and a PG qualification in CBT. I didn't do my first degree until I was 30+ so it's never too late. Both my lads have "fraught" jobs but they still enjoy getting up in the morning.

Its just existing til I die now haha. No sad reacts, its not sad, its just true.
I am content with it.
I'm - genuinely - pleased for you! No sad reacts from me. 🙂 I think contentment is the best we can hope for. I know I'm never gonna be deliriously happy so I have small aims - like finding certain jigsaws in charity shops. TBH, the money I spend travelling my ever-increasing circle of shops, it would be cheaper to buy the damned things from Amazon but I like the brief sense of achievement when I find one. Any turkeys I buy I pass on to friends of my mother's who sell them on behalf of the local Church so the money isn't wasted. Plus, they keep an eye on mum so it assuages some of the guilt I feel. Not bad for something that costs less than a Costa coffee.

Finish my PhD.
You will do. I "enjoyed" doing mine but was glad to see the back of it and move on. Ironically, I had my viva on September 11 2001 - which put it into perspective and, for a brief moment, suggested there wouldn't be anything to move on to.

@Bop I‘m not sure. I know little about college tbh. I’ve talked with a Career Guidance Counsellor and she said she’ll help with college when I’m ready.

@November As long as you’re content with your life, who cares what other people think. I’m the same. And if I never went to college and just kept on doing part time courses, I would be ok with that. I’ve met lots of nice people through them.

From your posts, I think you'd do well with Psychology
Moptop, your comment on using a tripod or a bench (#7) rest are not well thought out.
If a person has the tremors does touch a rifle a tripod will not stop the trajectory of a bullet going awry.
A bench rest still needs the shooter to touch the rifle, which may cause the bullet to go awry.
However .. ..
A camera does work with a tripod when a remote control is used the take a picture, alternatively using a sport setting I frame each .47 seconds allows the shooter to choose which picture is best.

Then again as protection of trees is fairly important to help the air quality, what are the chances of bullets breaking off small branches or twigs that play host to a multitude of leaves. Oh and should someone lend me a tank, how many important parts of a tree would be doomed to rest on the ground?

I want to be happy. Not to say that I'm not but past few years have been up and down, for a good long while I guess. Find the right guy, real love, maybe marriage, I like the idea of being with someone who really gets me and I get them. A beach wedding. Go back to college finish my art classes. I lost my drawing somewhere and haven't come back to it. I used to love to draw. Travel to Scotland, Tahiti and Rome. Would love to have a big place for animals who or lost and unloved, take care, love them find loving homes for them.

Angelkiss,
so when you said to go back to college and finish your art class, would I be right in thinking you are not referring to a construction class?
