what did you think of Riley? i personally hated him and i think most people seem to also....just wondering if anybody actually liked him, scary thought but you never know

Don't let the s/n fool you, I really don't like him all that much, but he was alright. I mean, sure, he wasn't my favourite, but I did like the guy. He and Buffy had it rough, and I do believe that they loved each other, though Buffy/Angel were true lovers.

Ya know, first time through I really didn't care for him but going back I can appreciate his appeal. I like him.

I hated him. When I first started watching Buffy, he was so boring compared to everyone else. Biley didn't excite me at all.

I luved Riley! I don't think he is the ultimate for Buffy, but I thought they were great together. He was so sweet and treated her very well. I also thought he was cutie! 🙂

At first i thought that he was ok but then towards the end of season 5 i just thought that he was really annoying. the was he was all like wahhh Buffy doesnt love me wahhh

I liked him until i heard everyone else's views on him. I'm very impressionable! Now i suppose he got a bit boring in s5 but I thought he was a good guy. I didn't like him in his s6 appearance cos he was all stern and soldier-like as opposed to the bubbly and optimistic person he seemed in s4.

I thought he was ok. So many people dislike him, and I don't get why they hate him so much, it seens to me because of the way he changed in S5.

I liked Riley. And I think it was important to Buffy's development to have a serious relationship with a guy with whom she wasn't totally head-over-heels in love.

I'm only 8 episodes into my newly-acquired Season 5 DVD, but there are a couple of very moving Riley moments early in Season 5. He tells Xander at the end of the Two-Xanders episode that he knows Buffy doesn't love him, and then he and Dawn share a moment in front of a carousel where she unintentionally rips his guts out by saying Buffy doesn't get worked up over him like she did over Angel.

I like him. He was a very important part of Buffy's development, as I believe Lazy Dolphin has already mentioned. Without her relationship with Riley I don't think she would ever have the foundation for a decent relationship. He was a learning experience for her, I don't think the benefits of her relationship with Riley have appeared much in the series, but it was one of her closest encounters with happiness and normalcy. The Angel relationship was always so painful and torturing, and Spike's was dark and dirty, Riley was her dose of boring normal (or as normal as a slayer can get) life. Buffy needed those experiences to grow as a character, and I think they made her stronger/wiser when it comes to the big picture.

he was likeable in season 5 and 6.. and even more in 7. he was pretty lame in s4.. his only good scenes were in 'restless'..

"i'm looking for a man... a SALESman."

..and something about a fort.
