I'm in charge of morale!
They showed us a lot of it. And yes they did it hard, often and in some public places. And sometimes they roughed one another up first Buffy seemed to like to beat the crap out of Spike beforehand. But they never show us anything to make us think it was really bizarre or abusive. No whips, chains, etc. Even with the hand cuffs, his hands are chained to nothing but each other.
But when Buffy confesses to Tara, she implies that she let Spike do awful things to her, and again in the early episodes of S7 she makes some reference to their sex as if some really twisted stuff took place.
It looked pretty straight up, usually with Buffy on top and in control, so I get confused about exactly what Spike did to her that she is so disgusted by.
Are we supposed to think that something really kinky/bizarre took place other than what we see?
It looked like other than being an anytime/anywhere couple, and the fact that SHE liked to beat him up, they weren't up to anything scary.
I wonder if when she confessed to Tara, she shouldn't have said "I can't believe I did those disgusting things to Spike"
