Fly Away Home - 8/10

Anna Paquin stars as a very young girl on a farm where she raises a brood of Canada geese. When the local habitat is destroyed, she and her father take to the air in a pair of ultralight aircraft, leading the geese from Ontario, Canada to a place in North Carolina. Feel good movie.

I remember seeing this in the cinema with school. Forgot how young she started acting

wasn't this based on a true story?
The Snow Walker - 6/10

A bush pilot operating in the far north accepts a deal to transport a 20 year old Inuit girl to Edmonton for treatment for tuberculosis. Once they crash, she teaches him survival skills but dies when they attempt to walk to civilization. He finally meets up with more people and even after he is declared dead, he is headed for civilization.

The Blackening (2023) - 7.5/10

Any film that has gags about Power Rangers and The Fresh Prince must be worth your time😂

Society of the Snow.
I should have paid more attention. This was very well done. OG yellowjackets. Will watch again, now knowing it was based on a true story. The actors went to amazing lengths to portray their characters. True horror story.

Morbius

Well, that was okay. To damn it with faint praise.

A Quiet Place: Day One - 9/10

I thought this was the best Quiet Place film yet. The setting is great, the characters are nice, the monsters are genuinely terrifying, and the movie excels at tension.

Unless it's a major spoiler could you tell me if we see anything happen to the cat, I want to see this with my dad but he won't want to watch if we see anything happen to the cat
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024) - 5.5/10

One of the more solid recent nostalgia sequels I’d certainly take it over BHC3😁 The scenes with Foley and his daughter are the highlight of the film. I really like that actress and they had good chemistry. Kevin Bacon makes for a solid villain. Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character was pointless. Not bad.

MaXXXine (2024) - 5.5/10
Easily the weakest of the trilogy. It’s quite dull, with a lame script, and a grab bag of directors or genres West grew up watching. You’d be better of watching a David Lynch or Brian De Palma film, or HBO series The Deuce. What a waste of a great cast too.

Plan 9 from Outer Space (1958) - -2/10
And I mean that score with affection 🤣 One of the greatest bad movies ever!

I was excited for MaXXXine, what a bummer :(
Happy Death Day & Happy Death Day 2U
Scratched the itch for a funny, campy horror movie. Hope the third one comes out soon.

I recently saw both of these. Great fun, especially, of all things, the death montage in the first!
