Men in Black - 4.5/5
It was on TV last night. I wouldn’t have picked to watch it, but ended up in front of it and now remember why it was such a hit when it came out. What a fun, silly, movie this is. Masterpiece theatre? No. But just a fun time. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Still love the song.

I like the depression scenes… except - I will never understand why she screams like someone is stabbing her when she is dreaming. Like what? I just don’t get that. Crying uncontrollably sure. Screaming as if your heart is being literally ripped out - a bit over the top and silly

The Craft (1996) - 9/10

One of my favourite films EVER. And oh my God, Nancy was just...so intense. (Loved how she "accidentally" killed her stepdad, he totally deserved it)

But Nancy eventually discovered that magic can backfire on you, if your intentions are evil. Sarah was a natural born witch, and when she embraced that heritage, she lost all fear and was able to defeat Nancy (and the two other girls).

Great film.

Ironically I really enjoy it until the zombies show up. Then it starts to feel low budget and really boring.

But everything up until then is great, and I love the zoom-out ending in Raccoon City
 
Invitation to Hell (1984) - 7/10

Little known made for TV Wes Craven film. It’s bat shit insane, but so entertaining! I kid you not the grand finale is a guy dressed as an Astronaut going to hell to save his family😆 Fitting I watched it on Wes Craven’s birthday. Happy Birthday to a horror legend.🎂🔥
 
Wonder Woman: 1984

This just did not seem as good as the first. There were some decently choreographed fight scenes, but not on par with the beach fight or No Man's Land scenes from the first. And the enemy just seemed rather bland. It also feels like it should have had more of an impact on the earlier but set later films; that is always a potential problem with prequels.

It wasn't. Massive letdown after the first film.

That's because they let the director also be the writer; so whilst the directing is on a par with the first the plotting and everything else sucks a big one.
Also what Wonder Woman did to that one guy...

"I don't wanna wait for our lives to be over"! Pretty dark sounding if you think about it?...
In A Violent Nature (7.5/10) Interesting take on the classic slasher by switching the protagonist POV to that of the killer. Great cinematography and sound design re-emphasise the 'fear of nature' a lot of backwoods horror goes for very effectively. The pacing/lack of jump scares allows tension to build up nice and organically. Unfortunately the main gimmick also makes the film kinda hollow since the viewer has nobody to connect to/root for. On the other hand the limited pov minimises the effect of the so-so acting from a lot of the cast.
A solid genre offering.
 
Rocky IV (1985) - 6.5/10

It’s cheesy and silly but god damn it’s so much fun!🤣 Rocky ends the Cold War and even turns some Russian heads😁 That whining dope Paulie (RIP Burt Young) and Sly’s real life wife (at the time) are the real villains of the movie😆
 
Ghost Ship - 6/10

A pilot finds a ghost ship in the Bering Sea and joins with a salvage team to bring it back to port and claim it. Once on board, the ghost of a child guides them to show the horrible end that most people on board met in this very haunted ship. Adequately thrilling but not exceptional.
