Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 10/10

Still the best Marvel movie after all this time. I never get bored watching it, it makes me laugh, and it is a great way to spend two hours. This was my 6th or 7th rewatch of it and it only ever seems to get better, much like Dark Knight.

We’ll see if February’s Brave New World can match the quality of this one, though my hopes are not high. Interested to see what Sam Wilson brings to the table in his first cinematic offering as Cap (I still need to watch Falcon and Winter Soldier). Also not sure how I feel about the Red Hulk/Thaddeus Ross recasting (necessary though it may be due to Hurt’s passing), but I’m hoping the movie sells me on it.

Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie (2022) - 8.5/10

A beautiful and fascinating movie, a great insight to Fox’s career and day to day life dealing with Parkinson’s. My respect for him and his family only grows.
 
An officer and a gentleman - 4/5
Believe it or not, it has taken me til 2024 to watch this movie. I enjoyed it. I’m upset about Sid. Also, did the movie kind of start with
Richard Gere’s character having just had a threesome - and not the first - with his DAD!? Wow. Just, ew and also, bold start. They sure wanted us to know he was troubled
. Richard Gere is a good actor, not that I didn’t know, but I was pleasantly surprise

Knives out (2019) - 1/5
Christopher Plummer is Christopher Plummer, Ana de Armas is very pretty. Their scenes together were good. Those three things add up to one point.

The rest was a tedious mess. After a little over an hour I had to end the torture and just give up. Neither funny nor engaging.

Slumber Party Massacre 3 (1990) - 4/10

The worst of the original 3 (hot take but think I might like 2 the most). The characters are so dumb at times 😆 And that subplot of the guy paying the pizza girl money so he could deliver the pizza and get just the party was so random 🤣
 
Trap - 6/10
I didn't think it was as bad as most people seem to, but it definitely has its flaws and the third act is very messy. Saved by a great performance from Josh Hartnett and some fun scenes in the first two-thirds.

Ratatouille - 7.5/10
Very cute and heart-warming and the animation and voice-acting is very good. I just couldn't quite get past the fact that it was a rat in a kitchen though 😅

The mummy (1999)
Well, it only took me 25 years to get to this film , and mostly I got to it because a lot of images of the cast started to appear on FB.

It was cute. I could watch it again. But I would probably have liked it more if I had seen it 20 years ago.

The Maze Runner (20-something)
I was so bored I turned it off after half an hour or something like that. Was this franchise successful? Dylan O’Brien is cute, but the plot or world building didn’t catch my interest at all.

I have a friend who had a crush on O’Brien and was always gutted that he seemed to get killed off on every movie 😆

The franchise made it to the end, which is more than Divergent can claim.

I admit to having done the same with the Maze Runner books and films! The films do diverge from the books, but the main problem the series has is it does not make sense! It is like the author literally lost the plot of what they intended doing, and changed their mind!
 
Mr Malcolm’s List (2022) - 10/10
I love period drama/romance, but I do want them to be both good looking movies and for them to take the period with some seriousness (Bridgerton outfits are a bit much for me, with glitter and what not), and this one was perfect.

The cast were perfect captures of the characters from the book, the cinematography is beautiful, and there were some references to Pride & Prejudice snuck in there. To boot, they skipped a really stupid scene from the book (that did not fit the period at all) which made it even better. Just lovely!
 
Terminator 2: Judgement Day 10/10

This film was beyond amazing. I've seen it many times, and I love it. Linda Hamilton's transformation from a sweet, normal, average girl into a badass fighter was SPECTACULAR. (And oh my God, she looked soooo sexy!)

But I gotta say, Edward Furlong stole the film. He was a natural, with such charisma. I just loved that kid. 😄 The special effects were pretty good, and Robert Patrick as the T-1000 blew me away. Arnold was okay.

Best sequel ever (with the exception of The Godfather part 2, of course!) 🔥
 
Civil War

A modern day civil war in America, following a photojournalist across the country. Mostly boring, but it was something to watch on the cruise

Wow! Maybe not your sort of film? I really liked it.
I thought it kinda sucked too . Swank was pretty good in the role but I found the subject matter a little dark and in bad taste to make a mainstream film out of . I wanted my hours back .

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare . 6/10 .
Relentless gun porn for jingoistic Britishers 😛 . Guy Richie frames a nice shot ; tells a decent story .There isn't much wrong with the film , but it feels like it's a bit too anglocentric to me .
