We're assuming here that Dawn being created would somehow bring Faith out of her coma, but with no knowledge initially of Glory or her plans, correct?
Given that her main driving priority would be to protect and defend her baby "sister," considering Faith's history with the Scoobies, I would see something like this happening...
Upon coming out of her coma, Faith would once again do what she did when she felt threatened by Kokistos, which would be to run away, hopefully in search of someone and someplace where she could keep Dawn safe. And, yes, I realize that she would have no knowledge of the coming threat from Glory, but she WOULD know that the people in Sunnydale were not her friends, and that the last conscious memory that she had of Buffy was having a fantasy dagger shoved into her belly. In addition to that, she's got a Watcher's Council wet team on her tail. That means "enemy," and "threat," at the very least, and Faith would be compelled to get herself and Dawn (supply your own explanation as to where Dawn has supposedly been while Faith has been unconscious, your guess is as good as the monks') as far away from that as possible. Under those conditions, I could see Joss working it around where she would end up in LA, with no knowledge that Angel had set up shop there. Angel would find out that Faith is on the run and try to befriend her. That would be within character for him, since it's basically what he did in the real story line. Faith would probably have the good sense to realize that he was honestly trying to help, and accept his offer of sanctuary .
Buffy would still come to LA to warn Angel that Faith was no longer in a coma and walk into the situation pretty much the way that it happened in the show, and everything would play out as we saw, with Dawn as extra baggage. (Maybe there could be some sort of sub plot, where the Watchers' team somehow captures Dawn, and Buffy has to pitch in with Angel and faith to rescue her as an alternative to the Wolfram & Hart involvement and the Wesley torture scene. Better yet, the wet team grabs Wes and tries to make him tell them where Faith is hiding, and they somehow capture Dawn in the process) Faith, Angel, and Buffy team up to beat the bad guys and rescue baby sis. When the smoke clears, Buffy and Faith are friends again, and Faith realizes that she has to answer for her crimes, and gets 25 to life, with eligibility for parole in 5 years. Before being taken away...
Faith: B, I'm counting on you to take care of her, however this all works out...
Buffy: Until the end of time.
Back in Sunnydale, Spike comes to town, is chipped by the Initiative, escapes, forms an at first reluctant alliance with the Scoobies, bonds with Joyce and Dawn, and so on. Maggie Walsh screws up one of her experiments and gets infected with a demon virus, becoming the Season 4 Big Bad. With the Initiative's resources at her command, she almost she has Buffy and the Scoobies on the ropes until the very last minute, but the good guys win out in the end.
Season 5, Glory comes to town, and the story goes along pretty much the same way that Joss told it, except that Buffy and her friends are protecting Dawn because Faith isn't there to do it.
