What is worth seeing in London?

Okay, what would you recomend someone to see while in London?

my boyf and i are gong in July and even though i was there like 4 years ago(yey a whole day.. LOL) i only saw the turisty stuff from a tourbus.... so i need some help...

what would you recomend me to see in london? :yay:
 
Well there is Oxford Street for shopping which has the famous Selfridges.

Harrods in Kensington Knightsbridge is also another famous shop (bit expensie though)

There is the Tower of London, which is a good attraction, if you are interested in our British History.

We have the London Eye which is a huge Ferris Wheel which lets you see for miles.

Another place is Exhibition Road, which is a long road with all our museums along it. Usually you don't have to pay an entrance fee, although a donation is appreciated.

Regents Park is a nice place to visit esp in July (Hopefully it should be hot at this time) which is next to London Zoo.

Hyde Park is another as you can walk along and end up in Kensington where the Diana Memorial is situtated as well as the Peter Pan park dedicated to her also.

Aside from all the other attractions like Big Ben, Houses of Parliament etc another there is Buckingham Palace also worth a visit is Picadilly Circus and Leicester Square, where you can find a show or two to see. Trocadero which is situated in Picadilly is a great place with Arcade Games Dodgems and shops. Chinatown is just around the corner from there, they have great resturants and bakeries.

Trafalgar Square with the Lions is a good picture souvenir to take home.

Hm, as the true fan I am I've got to say: Les Misérables. Seeing that musical was such an amazing experience to me, really, it's so worth it. (If you're at all a musical fan that is.)

i of course mean London is not english in the way the rest of england is. whats the point in going abroad if you just go to the places set up to keep forigners amused? surely they have all that where you came from?

Lol yeah.. Um, or not. To be honest I haven't been anywhere in England except London but no matter how un-real-English it is to you it's still a wonderful city and oh they so do not have all those things at least not where I come from, heh.
(And um yea, I'd probably be really annoyed with it too if I lived in England but since I don't I'm gonna keep loving London, mhm.)

well we choose london cause we haven't been there together, my boyf hasn't been at all, and it doesn't cost that much(compared to paris etc... ) ... and it's a big city that would be exiting to see.... and we plan to go one day to cambridge... casue that would be fun for me. but we are staying like 4 nights... so we will have lots of time..


Lol the only street i walked in when i was in london 4 years ago was oxford street... and i saw the rest by bus, oh and i got to walk out of our bus and look at big ben... i'm a big FAN of paris, so i'm really looking forward to seeing london(a lot more) and see how london is.

BTW is july a bad time to go there? we choose july cause we have our summer vacation from work then and we where hoping to get warm weather and sun... less fun with all the clothes and stuff that colder wheather tend to bring.
 
July is more likely than most months to be warm, but English weather has that crazy unpredictability that makes it so fun.
 
Well the kids are on their six weeks hols in July so some of the attrations may be quite busy, but other than that it is a good time to go.

I've been to London quite a bit but not once have I done anything touristy. Mostly just spend time with friends in pubs, I do go to Camden market when i'm there as there is some good stuff.
 
There is a lot to do in London but spare a thought for the rest of the country...I understand what Faldor is saying here btw...if you get a chance try Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding parts of Warwickshire...it's where I originate from and it's Shakespeare Country...try a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre - you will not regret it if you love theatre and the English language and good stories, told well 🙂
 
You originate from Warwick? I nearly went to the uni, but the course is crud. So im going to Derby instead. (Not really relevent to the thread I know).

Still, there are nice parts to the rest of England. But perhaps you should come back, do the more "real" England next time.
 
I agree that there are others places besides London, but she did say what is there to visit here.

I could suggest loads of places for the rest of England.

I'm going to have to agree with Faldor, if you want to see ENGLAND don't go to London, it's more foregin then any other place in this country.
 
well, london is very afordable, thats why we are going there, since we don't have that much money, and we want to go somewhere and we haven't been to london... but we might visit somewhere else in england later though 😉 but if we're gonna do that, we prob want to stay more then 4 nights, and in more then one place... 😉 :crazy: : party2:

If you get the chance go see some shows. Billy Elliot is a new one and it is great. One of the kids who plays Billy is an ex pupil at the scool i work at in Hull, his little brother was in my first class. Chicago is really good and of course The Lion King. I haven't seen any other shows but London offers many types.
