Sorry if a thread like this has already been made. 🙂 (Speaking of threads... Why do we call them Threads? Isn't a thread what you sew with? (sw) )

Anyway, I'm a quarter Norwegian. A quarter German. Partially English, Irish, and Scottish. But mostly American. 😀

I'm interested to see the diversity here. :biggrin3:

Well, to be frank. The reason they are called threads is... well... because.... I DONT KNOW! Lol. (sw)

I'm half swedish (on my mothers side) and half hungarian (fathers side). I'm raised in Sweden, and have only been to Hungary one time tho. 🙂

My mother is a Spainard (I don't even know if that is the word), but raised here in the US. My dad is Venezuelan, but raised here too after my grandparents decided to become citizens. So, I guess that makes me Venezuelan and Spainish? 🙂

It's not a SPAINard lol, it's Spaniard. 😀 Ooh, Venezuelan, that's cool. 🙂 South America is a very pretty place, and all of the girls there seem to be overly hot, especially the Brazilians. 😀 They have awesome tans. (sw) (Although I stopped tanning after I found out that what appears to be a tan is really just damaged skin cells. )

Looking at your profile pic, I would've guessed that you're Japanese. (sw)

And no Blixten, I don't speak Norwegian lol. I do occasionally go to Norwegian parties though, does that count? 😛

I knew I was spelling it wrong! Lol. Japanese? Haha, well I've never gotten that before.. but my profile picture I'm making a face and I can tell where you get that impression. Um, I don't have many pictures of me on my laptop, but here is one that is a few months old. I found it in one of our old Merrick photo threads. (sw)
 
My dad is french, my mom is dutch, and I was raised in canada.
So Canadian, french and dutch 🙂 I can speak french fairly well, and the extent of dutch I speak is to call my grandparents Oma and Opa 😛

Nationality? That's an interesting word choice - I thought nationality mostly just meant citizenship, not background.

In any case, I'm pretty much standard WASPy anglophone Canadian - both my grandfathers English, both my grandmothers Protestant Irish.

I'm french canadian.

As for your question about why we call these 'threads'.

*Something that suggests the continuousness of such a strand, cord, or filament* that is one of the definition of a thread.

I'm guessing it's used for this because just like a continuous cord or filament, someone make a post and all the others after it follow the same main subject, meaning it becomes a 'thread'.

Awh, you're such a cutie! (sw) And yeah, you definitely look more spanish in that picture. 😀

The problem that I face with having so many nationalities is that I don't really look like anything in particular. 😀 I used to have the traditional Norwegian light blond hair, but it's been getting darker and darker. Now it's blonde, brown, and red. No single color there. 😀 I have the traditional irish freckles, but nothing crazy enough to be notable lol. I don't even KNOW what the stereotypical German looks like. 😉 And I don't think that I look very English and or Scottish... I dunno. I guess that I look American. :biggrin3:

My ANCESTORS came from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and France, as far as our assorted family records show, and at least one of them, my great great grandfather, had the good fortune to marry a Cherokee, so I guess that you would say that I'm a perfect example of "melting pot ancestry." As for myself, I'm American by birth and Southern by the Grace of God.
 
For future reference, nationality is just where you live, or where you've been legalized as a citizen in. I think the word you were looking for was ethnicity, which is your cultural background.

Anyway, I'm American in terms of nationality, and English, Polish, Italian, and Irish in terms of ethnicity.

I'm boring, I'm just German and nothing else. Strangely, people tell me all the time I look Swedish. Don't know where that came from though 😛 It's interesting to see the diversity in ancestry some people here have.

Lol Illyrian! I don't feel like doing any of does things :D Ok, I do love the snow a little to much... darn it!
As for ancestry, on my mothers side I'm English. As far as I am aware a fifth generation witch. On my fathers side I am a viking.
As for nationality I have chosen to be Australian, which is quite apt. The early visitors had to get here by water, also all indigenous folk in this country have a religion that is pagan to the core, it is Shamanism.
And what makes me laugh is that the religion that tried to stop their beliefs now speask in favour of them, (Catholic's, Church Of England et cetera). The dances the aborigines do worldwide, where they pretend to be animals, that is a form of Shamanism.
Which brings about another concept, this racist tag the Australians have, is it merely the remnants of a religious intolerance that was started by the worlds religions?
