à la Masterchef, which I've been watching a lot of.

Are you a good cook?
What's your dish?

Or, if you cannae cook for buttons, what do you order at restaurants?

Priceless

What's your signature dish?
Hmmm, my favourite dish....?

Sorry - I couldn't resist! 😛

I'm an ok cook, as long as I put my mind to it and read the recipe correctly. One time I made a fish dish which the recipe stated needed a clove of garlic, but I put the whole bulb of garlic in 😀 My cooking fails are pretty spectacular. I also accidentally poisoned my dad when I was younger by mistaking the frozen cooking time for a chicken pie for the chilled cooking time. 🙄😛

So to be honest, its best I keep away from the kitchen (luckily hubby is an excellent cook!) 😀

I actually order mainly vegetarian food at restaurants, because I love the taste and whilst I'm not actually veggie, it's hard to persuade the husband to cook vegetarian at home as he loves his meat, so it's my only opportunity to enjoy non-meat meals 🙂

I like to cook. I usually start by following a recipe then go totally AU 🙂 My signature dish would probably be a vegetarian stir-fry, throw everything you can find in a wok and boil some rice. Use loads of herbs and spices, tons of veg, fresh or frozen, it doesn't matter. I sometimes add quorn chicken pieces or tofu. You really can't go wrong 🙂

Same here!

I don't really have a signature dish because I never fully follow a recipe, and when I go off cuff I don't write down what I'm doing so when there's a raging success it's hard to recreate.
Most people I cook for tell me I'm good at it, but who knows, I might be surrounded by a bunch of liars 😛

Creamy butternut squash linguine with fried kale is usually pretty popular though, so maybe I'll say that. That or homemade pizza. 🙂 Or potato salad, or... maybe I'm just really hungry right now.

I make a mean turkey sandwich or wrap. That's about as much cooking that is getting done by me.

What I am known for is my Stonecrusher salad. This is a Caesar salad that is so acidic that it has been known to destroy kidney stones, hence the name. It goes like this:

3 - anchovy filets
1.5 - bulbs of garlic (that's right, bulbs, not cloves - you will never have a vampire problem after this)
3 - tablespoons prepared mustard
4 - tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 cup - croutons, some in the sauce to accelerate blending and the rest reserved for a topping
2 - lemons cut to add lemon pulp and juice only (no skin or internal membranes or seeds)
0.5 cup Realemon juice
2 - egg yolks
2 tblsp - Parmesan cheese, half in sauce and half as topping
5/8 cup - Olive oil
1 - Large head of Romaine lettuce

Everything except the Romaine goes into the blender. For someone with an alkaline body chemistry, this is the best thing they have ever tasted. For someone with an acidic body chemistry, this will temporarily raise blood pressure. It will turn kidney stones into harmless kidney gravel. It will clear all eight sinuses. It will disinfect everything in its path due to the allicin content in garlic. It will destroy calcium-based arteriosclerotic plaque. You will feel different after eating this. And the taste is superb!

You had me at 1.5 bulbs of Garlic......Sounds like something I need to try :)
I make a mean tuna pasta and I don't care who knows it. Finely chopped red onions, celery and gherkins. Lots of tuna, some mayo and some fresh dill. Sea salt and cracked black pepper to taste. Fresh fusilli pasta works best. It's my "go to" because everyone loves it and it's so easy to make.

Other than that, I love cooking steaks and enchiladas. The worser half cooks the best Sunday roasts so that's his job.

You don't care who knows it, I guess that explains why the Tuna fish in the Icelandic Ocean have been getting the giggles recently.

Ever had tuna helper? I enjoy that and am not even one bit embarrassed lol.
However, yours sounds much better!

I haven't! I don't think we have that here (I bet I would love it though, lol). I do enjoy Kraft's cheesey pasta even if it is full of shite and chemicals. 😀 Such good comfort food.

Kraft cheesy pasta with tuna, I had that yesterday lol
I could cook if required but I prefer if others cook for me. 😀 I'm not particularly creative when it comes to cooking, and I have weird phobias around touching food. I am a pain in the arse.

My signature dish would be a fried breakfast, only because I'm good with the timing and I cook a brilliant fried egg. Apart from the usual bacon, eggs, baked beans, my country's breakfasts contain black pudding (blood and oats), square sausage, and potato scones, and sometimes fried bread and fruit pudding (same as black pudding but with meat instead of blood, and with sultanas!). All of it is fried. It is a special occasion breakfast since it is around 2000 calories.

I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, but I don't know that I have a "signature dish". A few go-to dishes are braised oxtail, citrus chili salmon with fennel, meatballs, and pork chops with a plum sauce. I get asked to bake cookies and sweets for parties frequently...so maybe baking sweets is my signature dish? I make a pretty good snickerdoodle cookie and a cranberry oat cookie.

Signature dishes:

Fillet steak in creamy pepper sauce.
Grilled chicken breast with grapes and almonds.
Pork loin (or gammon) with honey and mustard glaze.
Macaroni cheese with cream of mushroom soup sauce, tomato, crispy bacon and spiced sausage
Almond potatoes (just mashed potatoes rolled into balls, coated with almond flakes and then deep fried until crispy -filling and fatty!)

My signature desert is baked apple stuffed with sultanas, raisins, nuts, cherries, etc- with vanilla ice cream (which I've now learned to make myself. Yay)
Or I can do a pretty good apple and blackberry crumble with vanilla cream drizzle. That's new though.

I always try new things but these above are the old standbys.

I like to cook sometimes, try new recipes and experiment. Sometimes it comes out good, sometimes not. Lol. My favorite thing is macaroni and cheese with chicken and broccoli on the side. It's great.

The closest thing to a signature dish is my steak tacos. It's like strip steak that I marinate in my special sauce, which is basically BBQ sauce mixed with Greek seasoning, then just fry up the meat til it's a bit charred, it's actually really good. I also make really good roasted red potatoes.

that sounds good as hell
I'm a pretty good cook, but I really don't like cooking. My brother is the cook in the family. However, there is one dish that I cook for the family, and it's a smoke salmon in a Parmesan dill sauce over tagliatelle. It's actually very simple to make, and it's delicious.

i'm getting hungry reading these.
@Blaze : I'll cook for you if you cook for me!

Deal! lol. What do you want me to cook? I can (try to) cook anything, I can't guarantee it will taste good though 😛

Mexican chicken enchiladas and lots of Tex-Mex (as a personal note, when I ask about spice levels, don't tell me anything is fine if it's not, I hate guessing and actually enjoy watching people suffer who couldn't be honest with me). Many love my omelettes (peppers, garlic, cheese, and salsa) which will usually be served with spicy sausages. I do most of the holiday cooking as well with my pumpkin pie being popular. Many find my jalapeno cornbread an interesting experience, at least since I left Texas.

I take pride in my vegan dishes back when I attended a veggie potluck on a regular basis. Vegetarians used plenty of cheese (and other dairy) so that the poor vegans barely had anything decent to eat (made me wonder if they were really vegans in private), so I worked to create something good for them. It was so popular (whether it was something Tex-Mex or Thai) that I had to make a lot as the vegetarians (and those, like me, who weren't even vegetarians) were wanting a serving as well.

I often make myself a peppered steak stew with diced potatoes, onion, and tomatoes. Whole garden peas which I tried dicing but the slippery suckers went all over the kitchen. It is usually well seasoned with salt, peppers and soy sauce. I have often used runner beans as well just for the extra flavour.
As a side dish I often serve 3.5 minute noodles (should be 2 minute noodles) with tiny potatoes.
