I've allowed spiders to build webs in front of my garden window.
The other day a spider caught a moth in it's web.
The spider was small. The moth was large. The moth struggled hopelessly. The spider crawled about the moth's girth, spinning, biting, sucking the bodily fluids from the desperate, struggling body of it's prey.
I watched, and thought to myself, "Poor Moth, lousy spider".
Suddenly I thought a thought. By watching this ballet of death and horror, I had in a way become a part of it, because it had suddenly become within my power to decide what was going to happen next.
I could release the moth.
I could grab the spider, put it in a jar, and introduce it to the 7 layers of hell, making it pay for it's evil nature.
I could realize there are necessary rules to nature, however ugly they might seem.
In the end though, I thought to myself, "I don't want no damned moth flying around my house. Tough tomatoes toots", closed the window and walked away.
