Why is there "Catholic" and "Christian"? Catholics ARE Christians. If anything you should have had "Catholic" and "Protestants".

I'm a Christian...not your typical one, really, at all. I have really "out there" beliefs but since ultimately I believe in and worship Jesus (and God) so I call myself a Christian.
 
Looks like I'm the only atheist so far. I am unable to believe in anything, no matter how much I'd love to be religious, or at least believe in something. Am I just very realistic etc., I think there's a logical explanation for everything and I can't believe in any kinds of gods or spirits etc etc etc.
 
I've nearly always thought of myself as agnostic (so that's what I went for), though I lean towards atheism...I'm gonna opt for humanist 🙂 Strictly speaking, none of those I mentioned are religions per se, more like lack of religions (or general belief systems) but that's just daft spelling nazi hair-splitting 🙂
 
I used to change my religion like I'd change my pants, because, you know...it's like all so good, but finally I just decided to make an amalgam so now I'm kind of like a Judao/Christian with shintoist leanings and a sprinkle of North American native religion. It's a cool religion, but the problem is I'm the only practitioner, so it's kind of lonely.

I was watching voodoo videos at YouTube tonight, and that looks like fun too, so I'm thinking of integrating that as well, but the neighbors called the cops on me last Christmas when I was burning candles in my sweat lodge, because they said the chanting was too loud, so I don't know. If they see me in the backyard dancing in my underwear, and sacrificing chickens they might call S.W.A.T. :lmao:

Anyway i consider myself a practising christian.
Not catholic, protestant just christian,i go to church regularly to worship.
 
i went for agnostic, which i find amusing to say, since most my uni colleges look blankly at me when i say this.
 
I'm Jewish, but I've never been to synagoge or had a bat miztvah. I do celebrate Passover and Hanukkah, though.
 
yeah, i was always taught that athiests believe there is no God while agnostics dont know or dont have an opinion.

a Japanese person for instance can't really tell you wether they are buddhist or shintoà¯st (unless they're a monk/nun or a priest(ess)) most just go to the temple or shrine they think is best suited for their problem at hand. So they could easily have a shinto-wedding but a buddhist funeral. They go to a buddhist temple on newyearseve and to a shinto shrine on newyears day...

As for me I am atheà¯st though I have great interest in all religions of the world I cannot find one that suits me best and I am also too much of a realist to actually believe in anything but myself. I practise my own religion based on kindness and love I guess ^.^*

i second that. i'm Protestant, and my religion isn't on the list.

although, to be fair, at the weekend i joined the church of the Rev. Jonny Wallet. lol, it's a joke...never mind.


my religion is very hard to explain. i don't practise my religion, but i will go out of my way every single time to remind people of what i am.

like i said...hard to explain.
 
I've actually gone through a lot of religous sects. I was born into a VERY Christian family and actually married into a VERy, VERY Christian family. I'm from Tennessee, so yeah, Bible Belt of America. There's a Church of Christ every two miles or something.

Anywho, I'm atheist now, after being Christian and studying Wicca. If I ever did decide to participate in organized religion again, it would be Wicca. It was way more spiritual than any of the Sunday mornings I spent in church as a kid.
 
I went with pagan/wiccan although my true beliefs aren't strictly either of those. They just are the closest thing I could go with. Basically I'm a Mulderian. 😉

I believe that there is a lot more to the universe than we know, both in the realms of science and also of the paranormal, and that there are beings that exist that are far greaer than we are. What I don't believe in is that there is a plan behind any of it. Everything that exists in the universe is random and chaotic. I don't believe that there is any "supreme being" behind our creation or with any great plan for us all. We exist here because the planet was in the right place at the right time for our type of life to come into being. That doesn't preclude the existence of far greater powers in the universe, just that they had nothing to do with us or what we are.

That said, I absolutely believe that are current level of understanding doesn't come close to being able to comprehend the true extents of reality. Not even close.
 
I'm an Atheist. I just don't believe in God or anything. Although I have Catholic Cousins, and my mum believes in God, I just don't. (And I actually only learned what the word Atheist was for my RE exam...lol).
