What soothes the soul?

Meditation.

I'm a man, I don't cry.

Crying might be more of an instant release, but laughing lessens the severity of each situation and helps you pick yourself up that little bit easier.

Laughing relieves stress, crying makes you wet.

^yeah, like you meditate! and i betcha cry too...you cried when Bambi's mom died, didn't you?

lol, i'm just kidding, man. everyone of us is different, and whatever works for you is a good thing.

personally, i'd say both, depending on the situation. usually, i tend to cry, and then someone will say something really stupid and i'll just start laughing hysterically. some of my friends find this very strange and off-putting, but i can't help it, it's just how i deal with things.
laughter definitely helps diffuse the situation, clear my head and help me think a little better.

It's interesting the mental images we build up of people we don't know. I wonder how much your idea of me actually fits with the reality of who I am. I actually do meditate, not for any spiritual benefit, but I find that it is a most useful tool when I have many conflicting thoughts.

As for crying over Bambi's mum? Nah ah. So there.

I had a friend years ago who would laugh whenever he heard bad news. Just an involuntary reaction. He was in hysterics when his mother told him his grandfather had died.

Cocaine, ecstacy...the usual.

Well that numbs the soul, but same diff.

I know an ex crack addict who told me that sometimes he got so high it was like his spirit left his body and was floating above his head looking down on what was happening. Which sounds awesome. Maybe he was high when he told me.

i did exactly that. the day after my grandad's funeral, my best friends came to stay with me, just to be there for me. i told them something that had happened during the service which we all found really funny, and we, my whole family, we were laughing. they thought it was awful that we were laughing during the service, and looking back, i regret that i told them, but it's just the way me and most of my family deal with things.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I've told my family that if anything ever happens to me no one should cry. They should all get together and laugh over all the stupid things I've said and done...which is alot...
I think that having a good cry can be very cleansing. Sometimes it's just a nesseccity. But a good laugh...that comes too far and few between if you ask me...and I mean the kind of laugh that makes your sides ache. But, when it does happen it really gives the soul a power boost. A reboot if you will. But one never takes the place of the other.

A good laugh, I love to laugh. I actually can't help but laugh and I do it all the time, if someone is laughing I will start even if I don't know what there laughing about!

I'd love to be able to meditate, but I don't have the patience!

I can't meditate either
A little hard rock, writing some depressing poetry, maybe a little self mutilation....

Self mutilation rocks. Especially slicing off one's facial skin with a scalpel.

I really hope youre both joking. And if you are its in extremely bad taste
Self mutilation is sometimes cleansing at the moment...but in the long run it's just another scar to remind you of your shortcomings. Believe me, I have an armful of them.

i guess support .. like from friends and family. And also music for sure

id rather be laughing than crying.. i love laughing.. and my friends make me laugh so

...you cried when Bambi's mom died, didn't you?

Maybe I'm just bad, but when Bambi's mom got shot, I got hungry...wanted to spark up the barbie-q...(I'm so mean...😉)

A good laugh always reduces the stress of a racing thought process for me. I always feel better, calmer after a good laugh, like it drains all the stress out of me. If I'm too wound up, medication works...something that puts me to sleep. A good nap is almost as cleansing as a good laugh.

I love naps. They are the best...i can't so much sleep during the normal sleeping time--napping makes everything better almost as well as violence.

WICKED- It wasn't a joke, being completly serious. I was just saying that it helps me out, not telling all of you to go invest in razors and some strong rope. The question of the thread was "what helps YOU more" I was merely stating that that is how I work through things. Never did I suggest someone else should do it. And oooh, ouch, neg karma, how will I ever live on? A tiny 4 points off my karma is really going to change my ways, good job, I don't know how I'd ever function without you. Thank you for living.

Youve got to be kidding me? You think thats why I gave you neg rep? Cos it'll convince you to stop? My mission in life!

Believe me I know more than most that telling people how bad and wrong it is for you will not make a blind bit of difference. It definitely hasnt to me anyway.

The problem I had was the way you and MCW spoke about it. Like it wasnt a big deal. No worse than crying or whatever else others do. You seem to be taking the whole thing lightly, which you absolutely should not be.

The way you mentioned it seems like it was completely for attention. So dont complain about the reaction you got from me. Especially until you know my reasons for it.

My intent was not to get attention, although you managed to draw some quite well. I don't think it is a big deal. I'm not pro-self abuse, but I'm not against it either. Gotta do what you gotta do. If it makes you feel better, go for it. Its no secret that I'm a little bit ****ed up, so it shouldn't suprise anyone that I have experience in this matter, so if I was going for attention, I think I'd pick something a little more shocking than cutting myself.
