What Sucks About Your Job?

I work at a bank. My customers suck the most. I really don't understand people.

- They go through the drive-thru. Their window is frozen because I pretty much live in antarctica. Instead of coming in the lobby, they open their door to do their transaction. Granted, this may not seem like a big deal, but it really is. I can almost kill them with the drawer. They complain about freezing. They can't reach anything because their door gets in the way. Hello? Just come inside.

- They give me a check to cash. I go through the whole thing of cashing it on my machine, counting it out of my drawer, counting it into my machine, and then counting it back to them. Then, they give me part of it back to be deposited into one of their accounts (which they don't know the number to and don't have a slip filled out). I know it may not seem like it, but I really can just use the check to deposit and give you the remaining cash. I was trained to do that, I promise.

- People come through the drive-thru and talk to us with cigarettes in their mouth. I don't talk to you with food in my mouth. It's rude.

- People call on the phone and say "Hi, it's Jack." Like you're the only customer I have named Jack. OR, they call and say "Hi, is my deposit in?" Well golly gee lady, since you're on my list of accounts I just look up everyday to see if stuff has happened, I can tell you, yes it is.

- When you call, I have to verify your social security number so I know it's you. Don't freak out on me, because I gaurantee, the second someone else gets information from your account, you'll be all WHY DIDNT YOU VERIFY IT WAS ME?! Same with face to face transactions. If I don't know you, I'm going to ask for your ID. I don't care if you've been banking here for 20 years. I haven't worked here for 20 years so I don't know you. Don't act like you're giving up your first born.

There's more, but I have to take a shower.

The pay. I have a Master's degree and I'm making just north of $16,000/year. That's pathetic. Also, I get paid ONCE A MONTH. And no benefits. Anyone still curious about why I want a PhD?

I work in a cafe and i have to say its the public who i hate the most. Always moaning and complaining.
I'll server you when i have the chance! ok?!
No you can't have your own meal concoction because its not on the menu!!!

People are freaking annoying.
The atmosphere thanks to the economy downturn. It makes for an uneasy work place. Also the 'higher ups' and the way they treat the staff, throw in the fact that I got moved to another department (temporarily) i'm not enjoying it as much but the people are nice. At the end of the day I have a job at the moment and when so many people are losing their job I have to count my blessings. I don't have the luxury to pack it in and get another one but I don't really want to. Before all this I was very happy at my firm and could see being their long term. Just have to ride it out for now.

I work in a bicycle shop and the only thing that sucks as of late is the bosses son. He's really weird, if you walk by him in the courtyard out the back he'll just suddenly talking to you randomly about nothing that makes sense but only to him.

Everyone finds him a pain in the butt as most of the time he thinks he runs the place, he even had the nerve to tell me what to do! But luckily he isn't their every day, as well have started calling him "The Spawn of Thorn" (Thorn Cycles is the name of the bikes we sell).

I was gonna say that the pay´s one of the worst thing with my job too but even I get more than that. Other than that, stress, never enough resources and unappriciated (by most). Still I don´t want any other job. Unemplyment showed me that. What am i? Leisure time teacher. Which I don´t even think is a job outside Scandinavia so no one gets what it is.

My boss is a Grade A, Class 1 Bitca....and then there are a couple of others in the County I work for who I think the world would be a better place without.....generally they're what I'd call "oxygen thieves." These 3 or 4 people don't work in my department, so I don't have to see them every day, thank goodness. but I do usually have to talk to them on the phone once a day at least. I cringe when I see their names come up on the phone!

Hmm....let me count the way my job sucks...

1. The pay (they dont pay people what they should be paying them and pay the wrong people the best pay)

2. The customers

3. The management (think they are gods sometimes)

4. Half of the employees

5. The constant backstabbing and drama

6. No holiday pay

7. No regular bonus

8. The constant want for total perfection

I work at McDonalds, and its worse than going through Highschool. They try to make us keep our pay a "secret" just so they dont have to worry about people getting mad with them for screwing them over. I have worked there since I was 16 (going on 21 now) and I only make 8 dollars an hour..while people who have been working there like 2 years or less make almost if the not as much as I do. 8 dollars is also what they consider "starting out mangement pay" so they try to tell me I cant get a raise unless I conform and become a manager even though there are employees who make over 8 dollars.

And since I work in fast food, its hard to do total perfection. They want the sandwiches made a certain way (the pickles cant touch each other..), they want drive-thru times to be under a certain time, they want everything to be totally clean 24/7. Some managers try to talk down to people, which I talk back if they try that with me. I could probably write pages about how much I hate the place. But since I am still in college the hours are flexable enough and the pay is o.k. for now. I planned on offically "retiring" (as I like to call it) this year and moving on to something totally different but with the economy as it is, its the safest place to work right now. Espically since so many stores are closing around me now.

Practically everything, but most of all the customers. Man, they complain about everything. And everything is my fault. And then I nicely explain that it isn't because the people at Albert Heyn HQ refuse to pay for maintenance stuff and then they're still angry with me.
The pay is actually quite nice. 5 euro/hour. (That is to say, if I manage to last half a year. First two months I already survived, so it's looking sunny 😛)

You only make 5 Euros per hour? Mh, I worked at a petrol station for a month and made 6 Euros per hour. Very odd. Anyway, so far I've never complained about anything in a supermarket, but yeah, customers are quite annoying. They were always at me in the petrol station. Though it was a fun job, I still managed to get fired after a month.

Can I just say how much more I appreciate my country and job now? 8 dollars per hour? 5 euro? That's awful. In Denmark McDonalds workers over 18 get like 105 kroners (with the current exchange rate that's more than 18 dollars!) per hour. I myself work nights at a bakery and get 129 kroners (23 dollars). Jeez! That said I don't know how Danish and American prices compare. Maybe living is just much cheaper in America? : erm :

But I digress.

Find something else. Honestly, the economy is bad but you can find something better than McDonalds. I downright hate my job at times, and think I don't get paid enough, but only $8.00 after all those years is simply unacceptable. I've only been at my job about a year and a half (and not really, because I quit for about four months and came back) and I make $9.50 (actually sometimes they pay me less depending on who else is working which is one thing I complain about a lot). I know the economy is bad, but you should consider shopping around a bit while you are still at McDonalds. I'm sure you can find something better.

I gotta say, I love the theory of my "job." Theoretically, I take pictures, and sell them to individuals, newspapers, organizations, web sites, designers, etc. Or I take pictures and write a news story or feature story that a magazine or newspaper or website buys. I work when and with whom I want and only on subjects that interest me.

The down side - I have to work first with no guarantee that there will be ANY payoff. A lot of the time, money is not steady and I find myself wondering if I'm gonna be able to eat or have a place to live. Which means I gotta be a great money manager when I do have it.

My outdoor photography is strenuously acquired over long hours. I often work in less than pleasant areas, weather, temperature, and with the occasional creepy crawly (i.e, snakes popping up in the summer, deer stampeding nearly over me in the fall/winter). Sometimes I'm working against daylight or planning my day around it.

I can deal with everything except the money issue. I've grown incredibly tired of not having money.

That's gonna clear up eventually on account of my going back to school for medicine....so far so gross and awesome 😉

mostly, angry clients screaming on the phone about stuff you have no control over, also just seeing all the office politics. I really cant be bothered, i just want to do my job and go home 😀

The managers at my 2nd job are lazy idiots and have a fit when I talk to a co-worker for 5 minutes.
