What type of sense of humor do you have, BB?

Does the ''smartass'' persona describe your sense of humor better?

Perhaps you prefer your comedy to be of the highbrow variety?

Or are you the ''dry'' type who rarely laughs at much at all and are just more of a serious person?


Myself, I go for many different kinds of humor. I like the goofy humor such as Jerry Lewis or Jim Carrey....or the "Naked Gun" type of humor.
I like puns and word-play. I like satire, such as Mad Magazine or National Lampoon. I love song parodies.

I like politically incorrect humor like the original Saturday Night Live stuff (man, those were the days).

I like the old slapstick such as The Three Stooges and Abbott & Costello. I like well-timed sarcastic remarks in sitcoms. I like observational humor such as George Carlin or Jerry Seinfield. I like the rough humor of Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Sam Kinison (RIP), or Dave Chappelle. A lot of it just depends on my mood, really.

I got a kiddish humour... I usually don't get "adult" jokes too much, but if you do something stupid or impersonate someone or say something stupid, then you're sure to make me laugh... and when it's in the middle of the class it's rather embarassing... :silly:

I do love puns though or clever replies... like I don't know if anyone here used to watch The Nanny but I think the mean stuff said between CC and Niles were the funniest and most impressive.
I like the Monthy Python kind of humour as well... the Black Knight or the wisard asking the 3 questions crack me up everytime. hehe 😀

im so like you!! I have a kiddish sense of humour... i laugh at weird things... lol.. and i dont laugh at corny jokes but i will laugh at comedies and horrors... ie Hostel, The Ring, things like that and i laugh at my own jokes.. lol loser..

i also like the nanny and monty python.. im such a kid though.. but not childish if you get that.. so yeah 😀

I'm a bit of a mix like most things it depends on my mood.

I tend to watch quite a bit of Billy Connelly, George Carlin and Kevin Smith.

I hated The Office and Monty Python, I do like Extras and Catherine Tate, Chewin the fat and Still Game just cracks me up and of course Coupling.

So looking back at the type of things I watch I guess sarcasm, swearing and a tad on the rude side.

I don't think anyone can limit themselves to one specific type of humour.
Sometimes something is just funny no matter what it's catagory, sometimes something 'funny' is far from it.

I personally laugh at a well done sarcastic comment, but I also laugh at slapstick or even someone falling over in the street.

The comedians I adore range from the heights of John Candy, Steve Martin, Whoopi Goldberg and that generation of comic to 'New Kids on the Block' like Justin Lee Collins, Peter Kay, Catherine Tate and many others.

In my humble opinion, if a Joke is funny and done perfectly, it matters not which genre of comedy it is, it will have the same impact and make people laugh.

Note: That list is nowhere near how many people I actually think are funny.

i like blazing saddles. i think dane cook is funny but crude. carlos mencia is pretty funny when i understand him. and ellen degeneres is the funniest female on the face of the planet. slapstick humor and cartoon humor dont amuse me. anything that is sarcastic or you can say 'omg i know!' to, i usually find it funny.

Hmm I mostly like it all. I'd have to say I'm not really a fan of 'Potty humour' or whatever you'd call it. Like overly graphic sound effects coupled with a guy in sheer pain sitting on a toilet. Think "Not Another Teen Movie" ... that sort of thing. I do like the Scary Movies though.

My fave is Brit Comedy. Three of my favourite comedy shows are The Young Ones (kinda potty I suppose..but executed better?) Bottom, and my all-time fave...FATHER TED. LOVE IT. 🙂

Hmm. I'm thinking..."smartass", heh. Think I like cynical satire and parodies the most. I like the Simpsons, Family Guy a bit, love The Onion (though it's a little spotty these days). Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Airplane, the Naked Gun and their ilk...

I like some of Adam Sandler's stupid songs. But yeah, he's not much of a comedian. Norm McDonald has done some amazingly good, completely juvenile standup. Conan's got the best late night TV skits...I love Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. I think Robert Smigel may be one of the greatest guerrilla, in-the-field improv comics. He can make a complete mockery of anyone.

I think I wanna see the Borat movie that's coming out...

I have a weird sense of humour. I mean, I will laugh/smile at you regular jokes etc... But what makes me laugh the most is language stuff.. it's hard to explain, and it's way funnier in Swedish.. I don't know what it's called, but you know when people accidentally screw up sentences grammatically, so they say other things than what they were supposed to? Heh..

Also, Swenglish jokes, it's hard to explain, but Ape, Fran and Joamna will know, kinda 🙂

Current fave - Ricky Gervais in Extras...the brilliant second (and probably last) series finished recently and I've also recently re-watched the first series.

Old faithfuls - The Simpsons, Futurama, The Office (UK - I haven't seen the US version), Father Ted, The Royle Family

Classics - Bilko, Fawlty Towers, Steptoe and Son, Hancock, about 50% of Monty Python TV - a lot more of the films 🙂, Red Dwarf, Porridge, Morecombe and Wise TV shows, Ripping Yarns, Spaced, Black Books, Frasier etc.

Guilty pleasures - Carry On films, The Goodies

Authors - Terry Pratchett, Robert Rankin

I like all sorts of different stuff really, I've missed loads of other great stuff out...I don't mind the genre as long as it's a good gag and well told...

edit- I forgot to say I love puns, of all shapes and sizes...the more tortured and excruciating, the better. Oh, and as I'm a boy, fart gags and knob gags 😉

i'm the sarcastic person in our group, or family or pretty much anywhere i go. i'll be the one to sneak in at the end of a conversation and make a sarcastic comment and crack everyone up. my sister thinks i'm the funniest person she knows, but i'm not actually funny, if you know what i mean? i tend to do impressions of people in weird situations. like, the other day, we were talking about the Convention in May, and my sis was wondering what would happen if one if the guests needed to use the bathroom, would they throw the other people out first? i came off with something like "Yep, the organizers go into the bathroom and yell 'Ok, everybody out, Amber Benson needs to pee!'" she rolled around on the floor laughing for about 15 minutes!

Richard Pryor was a Muther F'n genius!! His wino and the junkie skit was gold. Sam Kinison was controlled rage that just worked. Robin Williams was and still is a walking hairy brain that never rests that just seems to know everything. Gilda was the lady of a thousand characters who was stolen from us way too young, as was Belush.
Nowadays I like the Blue Collar boys especially Larry the Cable Guy. And for my satire Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Dennis Miller was good until he went to the dark side (FOX news) but Lewis Black has filled the void Miller left. And the funniest late night talk show host is tv's Craig Ferguson, he is so good at making people come out of their 'protective hollywood shell'. A real delight.

I used to live in Alberta and the Battle's were epic but it looks like Edmonton is Alberta's team this year...so far.
