Imagine Joss Whedon gave you a blank piece of paper and said "Here you go, you can re-write any episode of Buffy" what episode would you re-write and how would you re-write it?

I would re-write When she was bad - "I mock you with my ice-cream cone Amish guy",
Willow:Witness, My nose is cold" X: Here let me get that for you" W:"Xander!" X: I'm sorry Will, your nose just looks so tasty" (wipes the ice-cream off her nose) W: (Leans in for a kiss) Vampire doesn't arrive Xander and Willow sleep together - please don't leave any comments about MY re-write and no "OMG that's such a bad idea" comments...

thanks - feel free to write whatever the hell you want as everyone is entitled to their own opinion xxx

I would rewrite "As You Were." I think that I could come up with a much more logical way for Buffy to break it off with Spike than that contrived mess that relied almost totally on coincidences and unanswered questions, beginning with who the REAL Doctor was and why Spike was framed in the first place.

Buffy ended things with Spike because it was killing her. It wasn't because he was the Doctor. The relationship was destroying her emotionally. I can't think of a more logical reason.
"Normal Again" Buffy toughs it out and goes home with Joyce and Hank. The nightmare is over.

Wait... you think Spike was framed?

Miss K, if I'm gonna rewrite this episode, not only will I prove that Spike was framed, I'll have Riley turn out to be a vampire, Sam be a lovebot, and Buffy come to her senses and marry Spike before the first commercial break.
"Seeing Red". Tara wouldn't die, although she would still be shot. Just wounded though. Willow would think she was dead, and still go dark.

Because there truly wasn't (in my honest opinion) a good enough reason to kill off Tara.

I agree about As You Were. I just hate this episode. I have no issue with the part where Buffy breaks things off with Spike (I mean, it breaks my Spuffy heart, but it had to happen)- I hate the rest of the episode. The Doctor storyline made no sense to me. Just...yuck.
So I'm with white avenger on this.

I would have, eventually, had Buffy find out about what transpired in "I Will Remember You". I was always kind of waiting for her to find out that happened, but it never did. It's still a beautiful episode and it still works of course, but down the road I think that would have been interesting. However, there is something tragically romantic about Angel (and, well, Cordy) being the only one who knows about it.

I also would have loved a major crossover arc between the shows. If they could have worked through or around the network ensnarements and done a huge one, probably in S4 of Angel and towards the beginning of BTVS S7, I think that would have been cool. They do those all the time in the Buffy novels, and they're quite good but still, not the same as on the screen.

Wait... you think Spike was framed?

In a word, yes. By Joss. I could accept the fact that Spike might hatch some sort of scheme to raise money, but I just can't accept all of the convenient coincidences that took place within that single episode, and too many questions left unanswered. If there had been a follow up episode clearing up at least a few of the loose ends, I wouldn't have had any problem imagining Spike being involved in something like this.

So, yes, the way that the episode was shown, I think that Spike was framed. Or, at the worst, he was working for the Doctor, but he definitely was not the Doctor himself. And I don't think that Angel had anything whatsoever to do with it. Riley, maybe, since he's the one supplying all of the details and accusations.

I would have had Faith and Buffy have sex some time in s3 before Buff gets back with Angel. I think it would have been super interesting seeing Faith use Buffy, and I think it would have made more sense fast forward to season 8 when Buff sleeps with Satsu. It wouldn't be so out of the blue. I just think it would have made more sense to have Buffy sleep with another girl before Satsu if they were gonna go with that storyline and Faith would have been perfect, I mean they had crazy chemistry.

On the plus side too, it wouldn't really have changed the plot too much, Buffy would have ended hating Faith either way, and it would have just added to the things that Buffy end up hating Faith for. The awkwardness would have been great and we would be able to hear Xander and Buffy have a nice conversation on sex with Faith lol. I think it would have accentuated the drift between the two slayer. Mostly, it would hint at Buffy's self destructive life and how she has sex to "feel" something like she later does with Spike, plus at how she's actually bi-curious. It would have also worked well with Will's coming out story.

Plus, I'm still convince that Buffy and Faith kind of had a thing.

I read some fanfiction once that added more to the Buffy/Faith relationship while not changing anything that actually happened in Season 3, and I was surprised at how well it actually worked. You actually touch on a lot of things I've noticed, such as the fact that Buffy/Faith would've probably had a lot in common with Buffy/Spike. And this could turn into a longer thing, but I'm not going to --

For what I'd rewrite, well... this is going to sound weird, but I'd want to take my shot at rewriting Who Are You. I know, sounds strange, especially since it's my favorite episode, but I'd want to rewrite it as a two-part episode. There are two main things that I'd want to do with it:

1) Spend longer on Faith changing her mind about fleeing the country and doing the right thing

2) I'd love to write a scene between Buffy and Faith, in each other's bodies, bantering back and forth.

Hmm... now I might need to make this actually happen...

It would probably have worked out better if Faith and Buffy had stopped off at the Bronze for a little post patrol relaxing, then wake up in bed together the next morning, hung over, their clothes scattered all around the room, and no memory of anything after that third Margarita (Faith, of course, has a fake ID) Did they? Didn't they? Neither one remembers, and neither one knows whether to be happy, sad, embarrassed, or mad about it. The mystery could be played out for the rest of the season, or NEVER been solved.

I would have re-written the first episode of Season Six. I would set up the story to where Buffy wouldn't meet back up with the gang until a few episodes later. The Scoobies may think they have failed much longer. I have always been interested in the summer (the time between) Season Five and Six.. the time without Buffy.. where Willow was the leader and Spike fought by their side.

I agree. I would like to see what happened in those 3 months during which Buffy wasn't there. I'm curious about the group dynamic, how Willow became leader (surely it was more complicated than a vote?) and I think Buffy shouldn't have come back so quick either...for us it's like she wasn't gone at all.
Just a gap I'd like filled with some flashbacks or something.

And also, I can't remember what the name of this episode is off the top of my head, but the one where Sunday breaks Buffy's Class Protector award...I want that part removed. It just makes me sad that something that meant so much to Buffy got stomped on

agree about the Class Protector award, it broke my heart a bit, and I would have liked for the award to be shown in some shots in later seasons, would have been neat

you worded that much better than I, hah
I would - regardless of Charisma's pregnancy - not have turned Cordy into an incubator of 'evil' i.e. Jasmine. If anything I would have made Cordy evil in herself through some kind of corruption (that didn't involve sleeping with Connor or demonic pregnancy) with a final face-off with her and Angel where 'real' Cordy comes back and possibly (or maybe just almost) dies in a heroic self-sacrifice kind of way.

Gross sleeps with Connor story-line - gone.
'Give mama some sugar' line - gone.
Coma-Cordy - gone.
Black tassel dress to reveal the pregnancy - definitely gone.
Angel's jealousy of Connor/Cordy - gone.

I guess in the end I would like to change more than one episode 😉

Angel season 4 - gone.
Haha. Yeah, would definately take more than an episode to fix that all up.

In Amends, Joyce and Buffy invite Xander over for Christmas, so he doesn't have to sleep out in the snow. All the other ones in my head seemed too big for a single episode.

What's so crazy about "Apocalypse, Nowish" (Angel, S4) was that it was, in my opinion, one of the very best episodes of the series, except for the very end. I loved the fight sequence, with all of the movie references (The Terminator, The Matrix, and well, pretty much any John Woo film). I'd definitely cut out the ending, with Cordelia and Connor. Even Charisma Carpenter is on record stating it's gross.

Id have made Buffy be nicer to Scott Hope and told him what was going on.. Then he would be in it longer and maybe not go gay!!

I would also have stopped Anja & Spike having sex

That Scott Hope thing? Not how it works. :P
