What would you say to Connor?

So I'm finally getting around to watching the entire Angel series. Just season 5 left to go. I love this series,except for one person-Connor. In season 3 he was annoying.In season 4 he's just a complete pain in the ass. More than once his actions have cost the A.I. team. He cries and pouts more than a 14 year old girl. When Angel beat the crap out of him and threw him out of the hotel window in Ep 20 or 21 (I can't remember which) I actually jumped out of my chair and yelled "Yeah whup his ass!"

So my question is,if you where a member of the A.I. team (I don't mean anyone specific,just picture yourself as working for Angel) what would you say to Connor? I'll go first. (In my best Gunnery Sgt. R.Lee Ermy impression)

to be a part of this team or go back to your Hell
demension and hunt dinosars or whatever you did
when you lived there. And you may not like your
father,but you sure as Hell are gonna start
respecting him. If not,I'm gonna take you out to
the courtyard and give you a good ol' fashioned
Southern ass-whuppin."


Im actually glad S4 ended the way it did,with W&H making that alternate universe for Connor. I'm glad he's at peace now,but man,he sure was annoying!

Love the cowboy up line.
I would advise him to just take a look at Angel, no whining, to try to understand what kind of a father Angel is...I would tell him to see the story as it really happened...
 
I wouldn't say anything to Connor because well... he's better in Season 5, trust me! 🙂
But before that... I probably still wouldn't say anything; just beat the eff out of him until he realized Angel was the best father he could ever have! 😛

He should only kill women, then it would be.

I'd just tell him to grow up already. 🙂 To deal with his issues and move on. To learn respect and finally get the truth through his thick skull. And more than anything... To take a chill pill! (sw)

i know he was annoying & pain in the ass, but everything he did was totally understandable, he lived in a hell dimension with a kidnapper who taught him his biased stories about Angel, of course he'd believe the guy that he grew up with & won't believe the vampire. & then after Angel straightens him out, he learned that Holtz was just manipulating & using him as a vengeance tool, later he gets manipulated by CorJasmine, then Jasmine was born, he sees everyone under her spell & happy, but he's not, though he saw her methods which were somehow not so evil, & saw that his father was planning on stopping her. in the end he did & the whole world went into Chaos. not to forget that, he was merely a tool to bring Jasmine into the world.

tell me what would you do if that was your life? your whole life was a lie, & you've been manipulated by everyone in your whole life. the way he treated his father was wrong, but understandable. he never had a childhood, & as he said in the finale, his father wasn't there with him when he needed him as a child, & he let Holtz kidnap him, at least from his point of view.

Connor in season 5 is how he would've turned out to be if he had lived a normal life. don't forget, he's not a normal teenager who hates his father cause he doesn't give him enough allowance, or cause he treats him in a bad way, its a totally different situation.

I think this is a fine suggestion. I'd also tell him that Angel does care for him, and that he really should trust him, but I can't see him listening.

I also think he needs a hug, but I'd only give him one if I was confident he wouldn't inflict serious bodily harm on me in response. The guy is kinda volatile.
 
At first I felt bad for Connor and was like aw I understand why he is the way he is. But then he got on my nerves. I understand that Holtz raised him but he in my eyes was no better than Angel just because he was human does not mean he is automatically better which seems to be the way things were looked at.
Overall he was ungrateful but in the end he made me like him a little better because he finally had some understanding. That is all I wanted was for him to understand Angel the way others do and he came around a bit so all is good now.

If he didn't redeem himself in season 5 a little he would have just been plain annoying the whole time and a waste of space character wise.

Tough love - It couldn't make him any more dysfunctional considering what a psychological car crash someone would be after spending their childhood in a hell dimension.
 
I think that Angel telling Connor move beyond the bad things in his past and to get on with his life would have been a colossal case of the pot calling the kettle black, but I DO think that Angel should have given him the classic "My way or the highway" speech very soon after his return from the hell dimension. It's Angel's house and Angel's rules, or don't let the door hit you on the way out. And rule number one is: "DON'T MESS AROUND WITH ANGEL'S GIRL!"
 
he can't say that to his son, not after he suffered his childhood in a hell dimension, & he didn't understand Connor well when he just came back from there. but I think he should have given him "the talk" more often, I feel like he didn't explain himself to Connor very well, he did it only once when he came back from the ocean, & I don't think his "talk" was very effective.
 
Well, the best thing he ever did for Connor was what happened in Season 5. Even Connor understood it. So it turned out okay in the end 😉
 
I wouldn't say it turned out to be ok, no matter what happened, what Angel really wanted was a happy life "with" his son, but after what happened, all he could do is give his son a happy life without him. at first, I wondered why didn't Angel just alter the memories so that Connor had a happy life with his real father, Angel. but after thinking about it, it'd be just a mindrape, altering his son & his friend's memories just so he could have the life he wanted, but he chose to do the noble option, give his son a normal happy life without the memories of the horror he had lived, which imo, isn't a mindrape.

either ways, Holtz vengeance plan on Angel worked.

I meant for Connor, lol. Even after he got his memories back, he understood everything. He didn't go back to the way he was. So giving him the fake memories worked out because he wasn't crazy & destructive anymore.
