What would your Nightmares be?

I'm re-watching Nightmares and now I'm curious about a couple things.

First the Master says that we are ruled by fear. Not love or hate but by what we fear. I'm assuming he thinks this because fear is instinctual. We have almost no control over what causes the gut reaction of fear. So do guys really think that what we fear really says something about us as people?

And what would your nightmares be, if they randomly started coming true in the middle of the day? And what would that say about you?

My nightmares usually consist of car accidents. And people I care about getting killed. And those are two things that I'm really afraid of. I wouldn't want to go out in a fiery crash of doom and I also don't want anything to happen to the people I care about.

Dunno what the car crash thing says about me. Most people are afraid of dying in horrible ways. But my other biggest fear, I guess does say that I'm a pretty compassionate person. Which is true. Just thought it was interesting.

Yikes.
My worst fear would be to become paralyzed. I have a good friend who is and she has helped me understand that life goes on after something like that happens and you can still enjoy life but I worry I wouldn't be as strong as her if something like that happened to me.

Spiders mostly. Either that or falling down the stairs and breaking my neck. I fell down the stairs and fractured my skull as a baby so I'm not thrilled about the prospect of that ever happening again.

I don't tend to have nightmares as such, just really messed up/surreal things.

My nightmares usually involves things I've seen in horror movies that I need to get away from. A couple of times I've been chased by Leatherface or Chucky from Child's Play, zombies, vampires and Steven Seagal for some reason. so that would be what happens to me, but I don't know if that says anything about who I am.

Steven Seagal! I once dreamt that Martin Short was trying to kill me. . .

Your dreams about Steven Seagal might be pretty accurate. A friend of mine used to hang out with him and apparently he's a complete whackjob.
I haven't had nightmares in years... But it would probably be about being stuck alone in the middle of the ocean... That's probably my worst fear.

Oh, like that one movie. Yikes!!
I used to have a recurring dream about swimming a length of the pool but a steam locomotive came out of the wall in front of me and i had to turn around and swim manically back the other way but ...

.. these days i just have interesting dreams about being distracted from whatever it was i was wanting to do in the first place.

So from this i assume that
a) there is a pattern!
b) although the circumstances change the pattern is still at work
c) it doesn't always affect me the same way
d) somewhere down there i know what i want!
e) if something can distract me in my dreams it ain't on the outside!

Personally, Xander's clown nightmare would terrify me. I am not a fan of clowns. I also have nightmares of someone breaking into my house and being kidnapped. That may be because I watch too many cop shows, and Criminal Minds definitely doesn't help. Oh, I once had this really bad nightmare of being attacked by Scooby Doo.

Scooby Doo!? That's horrifying. And I am with you on the clown hate. Blech!
Meeting Justin Bieber in person.

Bleh, that'd be horrible (unless I was able to chuck something at his head)

In all seriousness though, it'd be witnessing someone close to me dying. Those nightmares always kept me from sleeping.

I'm totally nervous about posting this dream. Well, nightmare obviously. I didn't put it in the original post because I was actually to freaked out to think about it while I was watching that episode.

I used to have a recurring dream that I was walking through the woods, down a pathway and I was covered in blood and holding a knife and I'd wake up screaming every time.

If THAT happened to me because of some crazy dream kid's nightmare demon thing. Buffy wouldn't have had to kill it because I would have got to it first. *shudders

Periodically I'll dream that I'm trying to say something but nobody's listening... It's some important information that I have and I'm trying to tell different people...I can hear myself but they either can't or don't hear me.

so maybe that?

My most terrifying dreams were always of someone holding me down and injecting me with some sort of poison. I am terrified of needles and being injected as a means of death scares the poo out of me!

I HATE needles! That would terrify me.

That's one that probably would have worked out really well in the episode, for Willow or something. Kinda like a reverse of in Restless when everyone was speaking different languages to Xander but he knew what they were saying was really important. He just couldn't understand.

Oh yeah!! that episode's up next in my re-watch, but it'll have to wait till tomorrow night since I'm watching with my daughters and one is at a sleepover. I love that part.

Mine would be close to Xander's with clowns... I can't really watch that part of the episode because it terrifies me! I can't look at the screen, and I have to put it on mute. The laughing scares me...

Same, I can't watch that part either
Either ghosts haunting my house (and by extension, me) or being trapped in a burning house. The only nightmares I ever actually have are about ghosts, and I have a fire phobia.

am with you on the fire phobia!
My fear would most likely be...Falling from some 50000FT and having to watch yourself fall to your death.

Or

Being kidnapped and held hostage while they cut your arms and legs and while keeping you alive they eat you infront of you.

Or

Being in a coma but waking up completely paralized that you couldn't hear, move or speak at all.

Lastly,

Being buried alive while people you knew, knew about it and then suffocating from the lack of oxygen.

your banner. i love.
When I was young I had a reoccurring nightmare that I was trapped in my school toilets and there were velocoraptors trying to get in and I always ended up being trapped in one cubicle watching their shadows.

Now it's ghosts/demons a la White Noise and Paranormal Activity, but more terrifying.

I'm sorry but your first nightmare made me laugh! I never had velociraptor nightmares, not sure why not. They seem terrifying enough.

I had that first dream but I was stuck in a kitchen cupboard. Good times.
My family would die....
I'd be dropped into a pit of snakes....
I'd be chased by Michael Myers....
