What's the weather doing today?

I’ll be honest, Friday we had a windy -19 C and it was a pretty miserable experience, now it is -9C and it feels like summer! I don’t need gloves, or to button my coat, guys are out in shorts again… I’m enjoying the weather much more except for the sleet that is incoming this week. Even -19 is better than sleet

Its risen by 15C since I got up this morning. Its now 26C at 9am, predicted top of 30C but I think it will be at least 33 judging by how fast its heating up. Everyone was out early this morning doing the mowing incase there is a fireban haha

It blows my mind that there's parts of the world at 26C, in December 😂

Like, on some level my brain KNOWS that literally half of the earth works that way... but it's difficult for me to imagine. Our weather here is rarely above zero this time of year and we're (delightfully!) buried in snow right now. I'm talking the big, fluffy flakes that look like a Christmas card. It hardly feels like the holidays without a blanket of snowfall and a temperature that makes your face hurt.

Maybe a tad OT, but is there anyone here that has experienced both climates? Did y'all find it strange to be warm (or cold!) in December??

Oh trust me, the temperature here makes ya face hurt too 😆 I often wonder if Christmas would be a less torturous time if it was covered in snow.

The silly thing is, Australia doesnt really have its own culture around Christmas. People spray fake snow on windows and cars, share cards with sleighs and snow on them and all of the Christmas trees are plastic. There are a few "aussie" santas around. There is one on display on a quad bike with sheep dog up the road. We had ponies pulling santa in a carriage under the sprinklers at pony club. Bondi has santa on a surf ski, and all these poor men are laden with heavy red coats and long white beards on very hot days!

I've been in the snow before but not in December. It wasnt as cold as I thought it was going to be.

I have moved to the coldest place in the state. So this weather is a welcome change from what I grew up with at this time of year! Too many 40C Christmases have boiled my brain. I do not miss it.

It's not freezing, I got up and didn't feel the need for warmth! It's raining and around 12c today

I must be adjusting to summer. Its 30C and I didn't feel the need to put the air con on today. Probably a good idea to get the pets adjusted too. The buns have an ice brick and cool tile in their pen, which they are using. The dogs dont seem to mind, but Harmony does feel the heat more than Lilah. Should be cooling off soon. The cloud cover makes a big difference but it has cleared now so the night will be cool.

As of 9:00Pm CST it is minus 7 degrees F with 1-2" of snow on the ground. That's the coldest it's been in several years in December. It usually doesn't get that cold here until late Jan or early Feb. Of course the whole northern part of the U.S. is getting hosed with that artic blast right now.
So much for global warming theories huh?😉

So anybody got anything better they can share with us? If you can send us a little warmth and sunshine we would be grateful! 🌞🔥

It is tickling the 40 C mark on the shaded back veranda.
Note to self, stay indoors as there is no breeze as yet.

-40 with wind chill today.

A friend said, "So that's what they mean by 'freezing rain.'" The world was one big sheet of ice this morning. I've seen snow, but never this. The city cancelled all the buses, which I think is unprecedented. It was supposed to warm through the day, so I thought I could still make a 3 PM appointment. But I called to cancel at 1 PM, because the ice wasn't melting, only to find that their office was closed and they didn't call me!

Wow its lucky you didnt try to go!
35C on the patio at 10am. Got some randoms gusts of wind but very still and very hot. The gum trees are dropping branches all over. One across my driveway. Not too big, so I could move it off, but big enough to have killed a little dog if we had been under it! I should have chosen a better time to repot my aloe vera. So sunburnt and I need it today!

-12°C/+10°F and high winds, gusting to 71 km/h or 43 mph. The snowmageddon were were promised turned out to be about a half inch, almost like snow anodize, no real depth to it. Temperatures will moderate but we do not get above freezing until Wednesday.

The snow did a comeback yesterday and now it's -10°C and sunny.
Bet many are happy about this. A cold clear day with some snow on the ground isn't a bad look for Christmas Eve.

/SK

Its still 25C/79f at almost 10pm. Also bet many people are happy about this. I can hear them being happy about this outside in the pub beer garden lol.

You lucky person!! I love warm weather, I HATE the cold.
