I bougallht a box of Twinkies today, in celebration of a $250 check I received out of the blue. I must be doing something right, because that's the second time within a week that I got money I wasn't expecting. 🥳

This makes me think that BIG money is coming my way soon. The lottery, perhaps?! If so, I'd arrange an international meeting of BB members. 😈 You know, rent out a posh hotel, fly everyone in first class for a week of discussion and debauchery....
 
So if the earth stopped spinning would that mean that everything on it's surface would fly off into the sun?

Guess it would depend on how quickly it stopped spinning. Then, assuming you didn't fly off, you'd better hope you're in the "sunset" zone where you will neither freeze nor boil!

My ancient manual can opener came to pieces a little while ago. I was stunned that the new one was $13! But after a few attempts like your experience, I knew I needed one.

A new can opener is definitely on my shopping list. Using a screwdriver and a hammer definitely made me work for my food. I don't want to work for my food. I want it to magically appear before me.

I have several devices that make food magically appear. Not immediately, but it does appear. Sadly, people want paying for said food.

I'm having a very lazy Saturday. Which is driving my mind crazy because I was hoping to accomplish a lot today. I have checked off maybe one thing on my to do list today, and I'm currently sitting outside in the sun with no desire to be productive. 😎

I just read that post by Moptop, about everything flying off the earth into the sun.
What about the 98% that isn't directed at the sun?
Considering how hot the sun is what on earth could reach the sun?

Here's a thought, if a rocket was about to leave earths orbit when the earth stopped spinning, how fast would the rocket begin to go?

If a drone sent by the Russians to the Ukraine was headed down to its target when the earth stopped spinning, how fast and where would the drone go?
 
I decided that for once, I would clean up the area that I live in, in the lower level rear of the house (it's a backsplit). There was an envelope that had been sitting on an end table for months. It felt kind of heavy. I opened it and it had $200 in it! Maybe this will incentivize me to continue cleaning.

Yeah, if the world suddenly stopped spinning it's generally agreed that this would be an extinction level event. Note that a lot of the problem would be that stopping the earth DOESN'T automatically mean the atmosphere stops spinning. The resulting winds might literally destroy mountains.

incidentally, What If (by the same people that do XKCD) does a great job of humorously explaining how simple question can have earth-ending consequences.

There was an account in the Bible of the Gideons who were trying to exterminate another civilization but they were running out of daylight, so God stopped the earth so they would have enough light to complete the job. My first question was, "Why didn't they all drown?" At that latitude, the earth would would have been spinning at about 600 mph and the Mediterranean Sea would have washed right over them at that speed.
 
Aw man, just saw a teaser for The Boys - reuniting the Supernatural boys - and playing on that! And I got so excited at the thought of new SPN stuff, lol. Like 15 seasons wasn’t enough.

I saw that too, never seen The Boys, isn't it one of those shows where they do a season every other year or something?

No idea, the only thing I know is that Jensen Ackles is on it, but I’ve never even seen a proper trailer.

Unfortunately, I can't get excited for more SPN. That show went downhill fairly quickly after season 5, and it was only recently that I actually finished it.

Jensen has a reoccurring role as a character named Soldier Boy. Jared and Misha will be in season 5 (final season) but unknown at present what their roles will be.
