Whedonverse references in your everyday life!

Today I thought in the same time about hyenas in The Pack and the frat boys in Reptile Boy.

There was that thing at my school last week, a sort of game to welcome the new students. You don't have to do it if you don't want to (I didn't do it last year). The new students have to do games like taking their clothes off and running in a park, imitating sexual position in public places, drink more beer than their body can hold,...I think it has something quite humiliating in it (even tough they decide to do it) because people who lead the games are openly making fun of them and have their friends who just stay behind and laugh at those who are drunk enough to take their clothes off and do a lapdance to the leader. It reminded me of Reptile Boy because of the humour "Let's get naked and humiliated, L.OL.". And it reminded me of The Pack because of the people who make fun of the new students.

Gosh I'm happy I didn't do that thing.

Reminds me of sorority/fraternity hazing in college- ugh, glad I didn't participate!
Ahhh, I don't know how it happened!

Today in Social Studies I was kind of zoned out, you know? It was something history like but I just wasn't really listening or only half listening. Mr. Goddard (Buffy fan!! but you knew that) was talking about Glory knows what (another Buffy reference there) and then the name William was mentioned. I think lots of people were talking so hardley anyone heard me but I said "the bloody" after the name Willaim. I didn't even really realize I'd done it. Mr. Goddard laughed, I could see him. It just sort of slipped out.

So two Whedon references there. William the Bloody and Glory knows what 😛. Aren't I getting reference-y.

I love your Mr. Goddard! Tell him BB says hi LOL & that he's famous now!
We have to create a website for school and we picked Jean Cocteau for our subject.
Thanks to Buffy, I had the great idea of making the introduction of the website like the very beginning of The Gift (which has to be the only 'Previously in Buffy the vampire Slayer' I never ever skip).

Me and my friend were walking through the school car park on our way back from the cafeteria and a teacher stopped us and asked what we were doing. Lucky I rant to my friends about Buffy all the time because without thinking I said 'Out for a wa..' before my friend hit me on the shoulder. It was a good thing she did because although most of out teachers are cool I didnt realise the teacher was the new deputy head.

I really, really hate my job. 5 hours is my cut off and I usually schedule things so I can't work longer than that. Just dealing with stoopid people for so long makes me act out to the point where I've almost gotten fired several times.

Last night they kept askin me to stay an hour late and I was like "yea that's not guna happen." and they asked me why not and I said "because i hate this place so much if i have to stay later then i'll just jump off the tower instead." and they just looked at me so i walked away.

I love this thread! I come up with Buffy quotes all the time, but since most of my every day conversations don't happen in English, it's difficult to fit them in. The only person who understands is my flatmate and fellow Whedon nerd..

So the other day in my cultural theory class, we were reading a text by a guy named "Giles-Middleton" and my teacher pronounced it "Ghiles" instead of "Jiles". All I could think of was Giles' really offended expression when the Buffybot mispronounced his name and I was literally choking with suppressed laughter and everyone was giving me weird looks, so I texted my flatmate because she's the only one who understands me when I get like that. Anyway, she knows that teacher as well (he has dorky hair), so her reply was "B. is lame. His hair goes straight up and he's bloody stupid."

I rofled so hard I had to go outside for 5 minutes.

Haha! :D
Don't know if it's really a reference but it seems whenever I'm in Social Studies these days I get I've Got A Theory stuck in my head. I sing it so much that my friends Allyse and Daniel both can sing it too and do it to keep it in my head. It's becoming a running thing.

Oh, and something funny. The other day I had to hook my laptop up to the internet in Social Studies so that Mr. Goddard could give me some work by emailing it. He saw my desktop which just happens to be the first Spuffy scene in Wrecked. Awks. See, you wouldn't be able to tell that Spike was nakad if you hadn't seen the whole show but since he has he knew. LOL. He was smart enough not to say anything but he looked at me funny.

I often find my sister and I quoting BTVS and Angel to each other. We quote Angelus "How did you survive this long being so retarded" fairly often.

LMAO Thats a great quote to go around using. I would so say that to someone.
My friends and I being utter nerds, we reference the Whedon and his work all the time. Today, my teacher caught my best friend and I running to our classes because we were late. She said, "Alex, Quinn, what on Earth are you doing? In five words only!"
Perfect opportunity. You know what we said but I may as well say it anyways,
"Out. For. A. Walk. Bitch."

I got a detention, yes.

And my dad turned my TV off so I yelled out, "I WANT MY TELLY."

-_- good times.

This morning, I was listening to Rob Zombie-Living Dead Girl, the song of Five by Five, when Faith dances and kicks some asses and...Right in front of me, there WAS WESLEY! I swear, same clothes, same glasses, same adorkable face...Honestly! I've been looking at him the whole journey, even tough I usually don't stare at people.
Wesley Wesley Wesley!

I think someone need to check out the banner limits. ;)
Yesterday, I was at a friend's house and we were watching TV and the characters were praising this other guy and my friend says "Man, they're worshiping this guy." And I said "yeah, makes you want to say 'let's go to the little town I'm the hero of.' " Then she high fived me for the Firefly reference.

Later last night, we were getting dinner at Cookout and it was really cold... my friend said "It's nipply out" and I said "It's officially nippy, so say my nips."

I just remember something.
When I was in junior high, we had a school paper that was supposed to come out every month, but it happened to come out only about twice or three times. Anyway, I was a major Buffy fan then as today, and I decided to take that opportunity to write a lot about Buffy in the entertainment section. Gotta pass your wisdom (Buffy) to your fellow students!

The only thing that comes to mind is when Burger broke up with Carrie on S&TC, but I'm sure that's not it. 🙂

No, that's what I would've guessed as well. Wasn't certain that it was in her Burger phase but I definitely would've picked SATC😀

Lol, okay so me and my fiancee are sitting in the dining room today sorting through bills and stuff and he says to me, me completely phased out "You know our strollers broken right? Want me to buy a new one?" and I snap out and I say to him "I say we burn the house down and collect the insurance. And, fire. Pretty." and he just looks at me like wut. What the eff are you doing? I sit there and crack up laughing.

When I was doing my law degree, in like my second last class, a friend of mine who was sitting next to me says to the teacher; "I've got a theory..." and I start singing. "It could be witches." and my teacher looks at me and is like Whut. And I smile and realize that it sorta fits in with law and am just like "But that's ridiculous, cause Witches, they were persecuted...and wicca good, and love the earth, and women power and I'll be over here?" and my teacher CRACKS up and as does my friend sitting next to me and I get on this awesome blush.

Also, on the case of Once More With Feeling, I do the bunnies thing too, either that or someone will say something about Bunnies and I'll be like "Bunnies, floppy, hoppy, Bunnies!" And someone will look at me and I'll just be like oh god.

But I think the funniest thing I've ever done based on Buffy would be in the middle of last year, a friend of my brothers and I were talking on Facebook. (a girl he dated back in year..9? I can't really remember) and she got really depressed way back when cause she loved him and he broke up with her. And she says something like "So, how's he been?" and I say "Oh, since you, well, he kinda went gay." and she cracks up. (It's sort of a holden reference if...nevermind.)

Oh I thought of another one 🙂 when someone says carpe diem sometimes without thinking I will respond "Fish of the day?"...like Buffy and Willows conversation from Surprise.

Willow: Carpe diem. You told me that once.

Buffy: Fish of the day?

Willow: Not carp, carpe. It means "seize the day."

Buffy: Right. I think we're going to. Seize it. Once you get to a certain point, then seizing is sort of inevitable.

I think about that too whenever I hear it :D
I got to use "There could be oil of some kind involved" at Thanksgiving dinner. 😀 The person to whom I made the comment didn't know I was refering Buffy, but she laughed hysterically nonetheless.

On the Bunnies OMWF note... we were driving down the road (my friends and I) and my friend had to slam on the brakes to not hit a bunny... And then I started signing... There were two people in that car who had seen OMWF and Buffy in it's entirety: me and my friend Becky. Becky joined in after "Bunnies aren't." My other friends in the car have heard It Must be Bunnies and they joined in after "cute like everybody supposes." We had a big sing along... it was a lot of fun

The other day I told my brother he needed to hurry or we would be late for school and he came out with a dawn quote "blobs of energy dont need an education" which i thought was hilarious. 🙂 I often use Buffy references and he's the only one who has any idea what im going on about.

Today I had an oral presentation in Sociology and I forgot about it... It was my turn to present and I jut talked about abuse in Buffy. My teacher said it was a great use of pop culture to show what we learned in class and I got a perfect score.

i've enrolled to start uni next year and will major in sociology. must keep that in mind :D
Not a reference, just something that happened: I was at the library today (I seem to live there these days...) returning some books, and while I was waiting for the librarian to print out my receipt, I saw a book with the title "The Truth of Buffy" on the requested items pile. I loitered a bit because I wanted to find out who had ordered it, but no one showed up. Would have been interesting...
