Halloween is 3 weeks away, so i thought i would post this now to get some enjoyment and readiness for the ghoulish festival coming up. Just wondering people's memories about their early or later years doing the go around for candy and chocolate! If people are viewing this thread and still do go trick or treating, that's cool too!

My last time was nearly 10 years ago, can you believe it? I was 13 years old and in grade 9, i knew the clock was ticking, because as the years went on we started to have a good couple feet in height, from the other kiddies. I pretty much decided before that night, that i was going to hang up the pillow cases and hand bags, so i wanted to make this last year a good one. oh and how it was...

My friend and i went around acting hyper like early teen people's do lol, we were immatating halloween movies and cartoons and stuff, trying to scare each other. It was great, there was a lot of kids around and some people were playing Halloween music in their drive way, such as Micheal Jacksons "thriller". We went absoulutley mad walking around for nearly 3 hours! I must have filled 2 pillow cases right to the top, of course we had to drop by major headquarters to drop off one of the pillow cases, man did it get heavy. lol, but it was a great night and went off on a good note.

So how about everyone here, what's your story and memories. Let me know.

Cheers.

I love trick or treating. I probably quit doing it around 13 or 14 but even as an adult I always make sure my house is decorated so I get plenty of trick-or-treaters on Halloween. I love the cute little kids in awesome costumes. Ug, I cannot wait until Halloween.

Wrong country. Never gone trick or treating. Halloween is getting more popular though so who knows how it will be in the future. Halloweenparties isn´t unheard of and last year we had a sleep over at work. Lots of work but also lots of fun. So just for the fun of it here´s the only time I´ve dressed up on Halloween.

Thats cool, you could be part of a herald of a great holiday to your countrypeople
I stopped in Jr. High...was about 13...by then i was into just dressing up and tricking....I stopped that as soon as I could be charged as an adult. 😛

As soon as I had kids to drag along with me I picked it back up again in its more innocent form. I don't hold out a bag, but I do dress up when i take the kids out or hand out candy.

It's my second favorite holiday.

I represent.

I think I was about 6. I hate Halloween, even as a child it just never appeled to me. In fact it would it would piss me off becuase I kept having to get up and answer the bloody door.

In holland there's no Halloween, although it's getting more and more popular over here as well, as a part of the "let's act more like americans" tendencies over here. But we have something similar, it's called St. Maarten (Martin) on the 11th of November. Basically it's the same principle without the dressing up. Instead the poor children have to sing a song. (Clickety-click here for more info)
(People are also starting to favour American Christmas over traditional Dutch Sinterklaas. But mostly they still celebrate both, which is mainly nice for the children, because they get presents twice. My parents refused to celebrate both. 😛)

Wrong country here too... Never did it 🙁 People don´t care much for halloween here... I used to dress up to a party in my town but I was around 8 yrs-old 🙁

I want a Halloween party with trick-o-treating!!!!!!! :cry2:

Don't worry, it really is over-rated. Now haunted houses are a different manner...
Yeah its not overly celebrated here either but has definitely become more popular over the years. I had an American step-dad so we did it a few years growing up but almost none of our friends would do it and even less people had lollies for us. We had a great time carving pumpkins tho... and our step grandparents would send Mickey Mouse candy corn from the US which I loved 😛

candy corn is the bomb yo!
I used to love Halloween when I was younger. We mainly had parties when I was very small but as I got older we went trick or treating. The street that I lived on everyone had kids pretty much around the same age, and I was one of the youngest so every house had candy on offer and all the kids from the street would be out which was pretty cool. As I got older and all the kids on the street got older trick and treating stopped though...last time I probably went was when I was 11, and all I got was money lol, cause all the parents on the street had stopped buying candy too! 🙁

I'm looking forward to Halloween this year, we just moved house from a neighbourhood with absolutely no children to a street which pretty much has kids in every house. So I'm fairly sure we'll be getting lots of knocks on the door this year haha.

Just for your viewing pleasure, I found a pic of me dressed up as a devil one Halloween hehe.

I love Halloween! Never really was into it as a kid but I love going to Halloween parties now. This is what I looked like last year and will look like this year too.

I believe I was 17. I don't miss it because A. I like handing out treats to the kids now and B. I love partying much, much more. I get me the grownup treats....candies yes, and a thing I like to call Grey Goose.

I stopped when I was around 13. In middle school, I went to a private school where we always wound up going on overnight field trips on Halloween, and in high school, my friends started having parties, which I obviously preferred, so I just gave up on it. Besides, after you turn about 15 or 16, the neighbors start getting really annoyed with you.

Well, now look what you've done! You've gotten me all excited for Halloween! 🙁

I never stopped trick or treating, I still do it, everyday, just for laughs, it confuses people.

Wrong country, the fourth here. As everywhere else, it does gain popularity, but yea, opnly in the recent past. I actually went out trick or treating once when I was 11 or 12...that's the only time, and back then we felt kinda stupid because all the old people had no idea about Halloween.

This year though there's talk about a Halloween party in our house, with dress up and everything 😀 Also, 2 minutes ago I just made the personal plan to pick up a pumkin (they sell these right next to the bus stop in our street, lol) and carve it...never done that before 😀

'google' drunk/puking pumpkins and save your riens...a friend just sent me a very funny email. I'd post the picture, but I'm not sure how. Anyway, enjoy your jack'o latern
I never actually used to be allowed to go trick-or-treating, cause my mum never used to let me. It wasn't until about 2 years ago until she let me.

ive never really proberly trickor treated because my parents were really strict about things like that, and my kids a still a bit young for it. so i never really started to be able to stop. =[

I have never once trick-or-treated.
It's just not a thing here.
Apparently there are some suburbs around Sydney that have kids that go around trick-or-treating these days ... but honestly - I have NEVER seen a single trick-or-treater.

We occasionally have a dress up party for Halloween ... but it's really just an excuse to party 😀
