Alyson To Star In Stage Adaptation Of When Harry Met Sally

Taken from www.buffy.nu:

"Alyson Hannigan, of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and American Pie fame, will star opposite fellow Hollywood import Luke Perry (from Beverley Hills 90210) in the world premiere stage adaptation of When Harry Met Sally, which opens 20 February 2004 (previews from 10 February) at the West End's Theatre Royal Haymarket, where it's booking up to 29 May 2004 (See News, 1 Dec 2003).

Rob Reiner's 1989 film of When Harry Met Sally starred Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan as one-time college classmates who move to New York and, over many years, hate each other, become friends and, against their own better judgments, eventually fall in love.

Hannigan, who plays Sally to Perry's Harry, is best known for her screen roles as witch Willow in the cult TV series Buffy The Vampire Slayer and as Michelle in the film series, American Pie, including the most recent American Wedding. Since making her debut at the age of 13 in the 1988 film My Stepmother is an Alien, Hannigan has appeared in more than 20 films.

Playwright Marcy Kahan has adapted the original Nora Ephron screenplay. The premiere stage production will be directed by Loveday Ingram, whose previous West End credits include My One and Only, The Blue Room and Bedroom Farce. Design is by Ultz, with music by Jamie and Ben Cullum. When Harry Met Sally is produced by James Tod."

Alyson Hannigan has been talking to Ananova.com about starring in When Harry Met Sally.

Buffy star Alyson Hannigan has been practising making rude noises in preparation for her West End debut, in the new stage version of the film When Harry Met Sally.

Alyson, who will be starring opposite Luke Perry, has revealed that the production will retains the infamous restaurant scene where Sally (Meg Ryan in the film) gets all hot and bothered, prompting a fellow diner to say: "I'll have what she's having."

Alyson says of the scene, "I've been practising all the time. She's a different person... but I hope it will still be funny."

She added that she cannot wait appear in the West End.

"The movie is one of my favourites, and this was such an amazing opportunity to get to come to London," she said. I'm nervous, but in a good way. Overcoming the nerves is another reason for me wanting to do this."

Alyson reveals that it will be tough being away from her husband, Angel actor Alexis Denisof.

"Being away from him was the biggest drawback to the job. I've been offered a few things that would have taken me away from home since we got married and they were easy to turn down. But this was too good to say no to," she said.

No expense seems to have been spared for the production; it even features music from current jazz star and heartthrob Jamie Cullum.

When Harry Met Sally will be previewed from 10th February and will open on 20th for a run of sixteen weeks.

I wish I could see that...damn...I hate that nothing really cool seems to happen here...bet your butt though that if James ever returns to the stage I'm taking a trip...😛

I wonder though, I have seen plays on film...think they will have such a thing available for this in the future?
