When She Was Bad...Buffy is soooo much like Faith

this may have been mentioned before and sorry if this seems repetitive or REALLY OBVIOUS....but just look at the parallels

Buffy (to Angel) - You think you can take me?
Faith (to Buffy) - You think you can take me? (FAITH, HOPE AND TRICK)

Buffy(to Angel) - I have me
Faith (to Buffy) - I trust me (REVELATIONS)

The "sexy dance" speaks for itself. Does anyone find it funny that both slayers did their thing with Xander and then just left him (or in Faith's case, kicked him out)? Or a bit harsh?

And again in the episode The Wish

Buffy (to Giles) - I don't work well with people
Faith (to Buffy) - Well, you can't trust people.

They are much more a like than i thought

I always thought that it would have made an interesting story for Wishverse Faith to have somehow crossed over into the Buffyverse like Vamp Willow did. The two Faith's confronting each other would be really interesting.
so basically, its like when she was bad was just a snippet of the kind of person faith was... scratching the surface of an attitude that really, when shown in Faith as who she is as a whole and not just a "phase" like Buffy was going through, can be self-destructive. It's like, Cordelia tells Buffy if she keeps it up she'll lose the friends she has. Then we see Faith, who is this person to the core, who has walked alone most of her life and turns against (and therefore loses) the scooby gang. It's all very interesting.

I wonder if it was planned as foreshadowing, or if When She Was Bad gave Joss the idea for Faith's personality.
 
I get the similarities but Buffy was only acting like this as a short phase of what seems ike post-traumatic stress.
Where as Faith has taken it on as her entire personality.
I think Faith is just Buffy minus the friends and family. As without them I can imagine Buffy staying the way she was in When She Was Bad.

(I'm sorry if there are loads of spelling mistakes and I'm not making sence I'm slightly tired, don't have my glasses and have been typing a lot today)

Faith also says
"You can't take me. No-one can take me!"
to Angel in Five By Five episode. And both Buffy and Faith
ended up crying in Angel's arms.
 
ooo thank God you highlighted the spoilers. I am watching Angel as well but im only up to the episode Somnambulist. Can't wait for five by five and sanctuary. I've seen the trailers. I'll see if i pick up on anything else.

Well, yes and no. Buffy was dealing with, what we American's refer to as issues, which cause her behavior. Yes, most likely PTSD type things. Faith has pretty much the same thing going on. Kakistos, her watcher dying, the evil watcher (hate her so much i can't remember her name). Faith had so many atrocities happen to her, I can understand her going bonkers for a while.

PTS(d) can plague a person for many years, if not forever. Look at Vietnam Veterans. Some of them still deal with it to this day, and how many years ago was that? 😀

Faith could never have existed in the Wishverse. The Wishverse is a product of Buffy never coming to sunnydale... Never dying to have Kendra then Faith called.

Never existed? Not as a slayer but she would still be alive right? Not sure if wa was thinking of slayer Faith or just "regular" Faith though. But it could have been interesting to see how none slayer Faith would react to get thrown into another world and see/meet herself as some kind of superhero, bad version or not.

lol, i kinda figured someone would point that out, i swear i thought about editing Faith to 'Faith the Slayer'. ha
yeah but just because they say the same things doesnt mean there alike...
but i still agree that they are simmilar
 
I dont think they were alike at all...Ok they said some of the same things but Buffy was pretending shes not bad, Faith is a genuine badass lol
 
I love the observation here! At first I just thought this was going to be about Buffy being a bitca in that episode but this was pretty cool.

I think from this episode, you can see that the similarities lie in their troubles. If anything, it helps you to understand Faith's character even more. Buffy had one horrible experience that resulted in her behaviour here, but Faith's whole life was one thing after another and her attitude towards life, people and the world in general are a consequence of it.
 
Faith was in the "Wishverse". When they're panning in to the Bronze for the first time, she's being bitten by a vampire, so she possibly could've been a vamp. That would've been hot. You have to look a little closely, but it's definitely her.

Oh... looks like I stand corrected. I didn't know that he confirmed that. Ruined that for me. lol I thought I found something cool. I'll go and cry in my corner now. 😀

Thats a really good one, with you saying they both ended up crying in Angels arms.
They both definitely have the same attitude, when Buffy decides to show it lol.

Right! It's also interesting to see how similar Wishverse Buffy is to "When She Was Bad" Buffy. Wishverse Buffy is pretty much an idea of what Buffy would've really been like without the company of her friends - bold, ruthless, bitchy, and assertive. Very much identical to Buffy post-Prophecy Girl. Both episodes also ended and revolved around Buffy distrupting a vampire gathering for the Master. It would've been interesting to have Wishverse Buffy get aquianted Faith.
 
Oooh I never thought about this before... Very interesting paralells... I guess "When She Was Bad" was Joss' way of getting us used to what it would be like to see a Slayer who was cut off from friends and family. Very cool!
 
The opening scene was brilliant when Buffy kicking the crap out of a vampire and throwing him agasint a tree with a conveniently placed stake - shape branch with a cheecky , extremely postmodern nod to the audience; "hi guys.miss me ?"
