When the Buffy remake is released will you go see it?

Im planning to go on opening night, walk to the front of the cinema in the middle of the film and yell:

'SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR IS BUFFY FOREVER and Joss deserves a mention too'

OMG, how fun that would be! Except that means we'd be giving them our money, and I don't plan on doing that. Instead, fans should organize some kind of alternate Buffy event happening at the same time.

I will definitely see it, I love going to the cinema and I will be definitely be too curious to stay away, even if the trailers are horrible. 😛 And even if I have a hatred for the actors/actresses cast. 😛
 
I`ll go opening night. And probably multiple times after that. And I`ll make all my friends go even if theyve never watched 1 min of the show...

But that is the beauty of it.. because they CAN go and not feel lost. If the movie were to be 'season 8' of the series with a returning cast, there would be no way it would gain any new audience. It's the law of diminishing returns; why they had to reboot Star Trek. But everyone can see this movie without having to watch 7 years worth of episodes to feel they wont be lost.

I remain sceptical as to whether or not she can actually write the character. Getting it is only half the struggle 😉

But I too would prefer to see a darker side. Not some Nancy Drew vampire flick.
The tagline for the first movie was "Pert. Wholesome. Way lethal." We all saw how that went... let's focus on the lethal part now please 🙂

Joss didn't create Buffy the Vampire slayer, he told a story for her, so theres no reason I couldn't enjoy another telling of the story.

I think it's crazy people wouldn't give the film a chance, and say things like SMG IS Buffy, since she is already a Buffy Remake, technically Kristy Swanson is Buffy the Vampire Slayer!

The studio... in Joss' first story treatment (I may be wrong on the name) she wasn't called Buffy and she wasnt in high school.. she was a waitress and I believe her name was Joan. (i could be wrong on the name) As the story is told, it was the studio that wanted to move it to high school.

Sorry I misspoke, Joss did create Buffy, Scrbro is write that in the first draft she was Rhonda the Waitress, but Joss did choose to change it to Buffy.

What I meant was the original Buffy wasn't as Joss as envisioned it, it was changed, and he didn't get to tell the story he wanted to tell until the show. This just goes to show that there can be different versions of the story.

We all happen to like the remake, so I think it's crazy to now start yelling "How dare they make a remake" cuz we should be telling "How dare they remake, a remake".

Without a remake, the only Buffy we'd have is the movie.

I don't think so, but of course can't be sure, I've never seen the Biography episode on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but Joss says:

I sort of happened on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Actually it was -I believe Rhonda the Immortal Waitress was really the first incarnation of it.

Absolutely not. When I was first told, I DID consider it, because hey BUFFY, and I thought that it would at least be novel to see Buffy in theaters. Then I heard Joss' response, and Nicholas Brendon, and Seth Green, and Anthony Stewart Head, and Alyson Hannigan. And I read up on what the movie might have in store. Everything seems wrong. They're wiping out an ENTIRE universe that took 7 years to build, and excuse the newness of me, but without those 7 years, hell 8 years if you include Angel, there wouldn't BE a franchise for Ms. Anderson to even reboot. If the show had never existed, just the original movie with Kristy Swanson, I doubt ANYONE would be like "You know what would really sell? Remaking Buffy the Vampire Slayer!"

Without Joss you would have no Buffy worth being in the theaters, or on any medium for that matter. To add insult to injury, Anderson isn't even going back to high school with this. She's starting with a fresh out of college Buffy... So instead of an EXPLAINABLE ignoring of the show, she's going HALF WAY THROUGH THE ENTIRE SERIES like it never even happened. No background, no getting to know her friends. The entire thing, to quote Anthony Stewart Head, is appalling.

If you're one of the ones who considers seeing this in the theater, go read Joss Whedon's email to E! Entertainment. The last line reads as follows: "Leave me to my pain! Sincerely, Joss."


(Sidenote: Don't get me wrong, I think the Kristy Swanson movie is great, in it's utter cheesiness, but the bottom line there is that the movie really wasn't a big seller)

They probably would, there not doing this because of Buffy fans, they are doing it because Vampires are in now.

I'd understand it being appalling if they were trying to rework the series, or trying to continue the story.

But a fresh take on the story could be interesting. Their not wiping out the story they are telling another version of it.

This would just make me want to see it more, petty little man, that has an ego his talent can't back up, He should be flattered someone wants to use the premise for the story, he's not doing anything with it (other then comics, and not everyone wants to read those), especially him being involved in the comic world, he should have no problem with another version of the same story.
 
Yes! If the Trailer Looks Good I'll Go See It At The Movies, But If The Trailer Isn't Any Good I'll Wait Til It Comes Out On DVD

I don't honestly laugh out loud much, but that phrase sure made me! haha Petty little man. What I wonder about, and no one has ever mentioned, is that a story about 'woman empowerment' is actually being written by a woman and from a woman's perspective- I wonder how little things will differ that a man simply cannot understand.
