I started watching Buffy July of last year and ever since i've become totally obsessed with it. I always watch at least 2 episodes a day, it's sort of a Buffy OCD. Anyway since then i've been searching and watching other shows by Joss and the writers or with some of the cast in them.

I watch Buffy, Angel, Firefyl (rarely), How i Met Your Mother, Tru Calling and am anxious on the release of Dollhouse.

SO i was curious when did you enter the Buffyverse....were you there from the beginning or are you a newbie like me???

When I was 13. But back then it was more jsut sneaking around, watching the occasional episode when my parents weren't around and reading the books (I'm probably the only person who read most of the Buffy books before actually really watching the show). I really got into it when i was like 16 and in England for my summer vacation and stumbled across some very cheap Buffy videos. I bought season1 and after that (at the scene when Buffy marches to the high school in the last episode, Xander and Angel tagging along, and the theme song playing) I decided it was really time to watch all episodes structured and everything. And yeah, I never got away from it again. 2 years ago I then started watching Angel. At first I didn't really weant to because the episodes I had seen didn't seem all that great. In the end I gave in because Cordy and Angel are my favourite characters and after all they were like the key factor of the whole show. When I heard what happenes to Cordy in the end I at least wanted to see that episode, and it was at that point that I really said I would watch the whole show from beginning, because I just loved Angel and Cordy as individual characters and as a ship too much to not watch it.
The rest of the Whedonverse....I tried Firefly recently, but I didn't really get it. I tried Tru Calling but thought it was too boring. I didn't plan to watch How I Met Your Mother (i was so wrong about my prediction of what would happen in the show...I expected Alyson's character to meet her new mother-in-law and the show to be based on that...boy was I wrong), but after all it had Alyson in it, one of the probably most successful Buffy alumnis, so I gave it a try. And I simply loved it. Ever since i watch it A LOT. Next to Buffy/Angel it's my favourite show. I also can't await Dollhouse, but let's see how that goes.
Uh, and of course I watched some movies starring the Buffy alumnis. 'Cruel Intentions' is definitely one of my favourites and American Pie is also very enjoyable. I also watched 'Imagine you & me' because there's Anthony Head in it, the whole Scream trilogy because the second one features SMG for like 5 minutes, Charmed episodes because there was Charisma...well, you get the point.

And uuuuh, I just remembered...in my whole life I only watched one episode of 'Clarissa' (random turn in), and coincidentally, Michelle Trachtenberg was guest starring in that episode 😀 That's why I watched the entire episode, lol.

I've been watching since March last year. And really, it's all thanks to my former classmate and the Scottish band Travis. Let me tell you why...

- I only started watching Buffy because it kept getting mentioned on a couple of Doctor Who board I frequent (so much so that I was spoiled about quite a few things while in the process of watching the show(s) - I knew about Willow's change of sexuality, her going dark, Buffy dying and Spike getting his soul 🙁 ). "Doctor Who is like Buffy", "Russel T Davies loves Buffy", "RTD want to be Joss Whedon". Having heard of the show beforehand (but sort of dismissed it because of the title...), I finally gave in late one night and *ahem* aquired the first season. The following night I'd finished season one and begun in the no. two. Two and a half months later I'd finished both Buffy and Angel.

- SO - I started watching Buffy because of Doctor Who. BUT I only started watching Doctor Who because I happened upon the info that David Tennant (who I vaugely recalled having appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) was "going to be the new Doctor" as I was researching my favourite band Travis. A short while later I stumbled upon the first episode of the new series and decided to watch out of curiosity. Of course The Doctor at that time was Christopher Eccleston but I loved it regardless.

- So Doctor Who was down to Travis and Harry Potter. However, I was completely blind to the Harry Potter craze until I watched the first movie at a friends birthday party in November 2001. I was sceptical at first because Harry Potter was (and is) SO popular and I was never a kid who followed trends (not out of spite or anything - mostly I just thought they were stupid). But Harry Potter sure caught on.

So there you go; I was sucked into the Buffyverse thanks to Travis and a former classmate in March last year - though it all started when I was twelve years old...

Lol, great post! Plus, Harry Potter Karma is a must. ;)
My brother said I used to watch it a lot when I was little, but I don't remember. My first memory of watching Buffy was during season 6. So, when I was about 7. But I didn't become 'Obsessed' and buy all the DVDs and memorabilia and stuff like that until I was 10. Then I became even more obsessed and found the BB. 😉 So around 3 or 4 years I've become a true fan of the verse, but I've watched it most of my life.

I started watching from the start. But since that means from the start in Sweden it means 1999. Can´t say that I got dragged into the universe at that point though. Happened a few years later when I got all seasons on dvd (which means it was after the show had stopped). Got into Angel and got recommended Firefly. Got more and more hooked the more times I´ve watched the shows and now I have no problem admitting that I´m kind of "addicted".

I was 7. The summer after first grade. The first episode I watched was "Angel", it was a repeat. It was also the first time I saw 7th Heaven (Cause it was a Monday night on the WB, where 7th Heaven aired at 8, and Buffy at 9pm). From then on, I saw each episode when I got a chance to sneak it (though it aired on WGN, a Chicago affliate, so I had to watch it at 9pm on Tuesdays and 10pm on Mondays because of the time difference). I was in the second grade, reading the books and watching the third season. I seriously thought Willow was the next vampire slayer when I saw the season premiere promo on the WB. haha.

Because of Buffy, I started watching Dawson's Creek, Felicity, Charmed, Roswell, Angel, and many other WB shows. That's the only station I watched at night. And I was only 8! It also made me more mature, as I looked at my friends and compared how stupid they were to Buffy, and I couldn't WAIT to be in high school.

And now, ten years later, I still watch the show occasionally. And it's made me so much more into the paranormal. It, So Weird, and Charmed really got me hooked on the paranormal.

Watched it from the start, so I must have been 11 or 12 then. I pretty much loved it from the beginning. 😀

I started to watch it when it aired on the telly but worked away alot so i missed quite a few episodes.

I only got obsessed last year when I remembered i like it and got the lot on dvd. I had no idea how much i liked it, it makes me laugh and bring a tear to my eye occasionally and most imortantly its got olenty of violence!

Um, I was like 8 or 9.. around the time when the show had just finished or was finishing. I remember seeing a repeat of Hush and it scared the crap out of me! So, I started watching episodes.. like not even in order. I was completely clueless, then I finally went out and purchased the DVDs. I don't think I ever caught an episode that was actually new, especially not the pilot. I would have been like 4. BUT I don't doubt that my four year old self would have minded! Lol.

I watched it when it aired, but not from the beginning because I thought it was going to be stupid. I didn't really become a true devotee until I watched the shows on DVD. Then Firefly, then the Season 8 comics brought my interest to a whole new level.

I've watched since May last eyar and when i get in to a show i get OBSESSIVE i mean like real obsessive.
I watch it all the time, i think about ti all the time it consumes my whole life. I have all of Buffy and all of Angel. Once i've watched them through up to 12 episodes a day if i had the time I have to find out everything about it,then i move on to the cast and find out about what all the cast are getting up to.

I then went and watched Tru Calling and any Films with SMG, Bones for David, ps i love you for James and i haven't seen anything with the other actors becuase i had stopped with the obsessiveness. It gets to a point then i just stop. I only continue if something still interests me or i've joined a forum like these boards then I'll keep going and it'll be just normal fandom 🙂

I'm not obsessed about Dr. Horrible, I swear!
I got sucked in a little more than a year ago. I was carousing around iTunes and saw that, under "Staff Favorites," Buffy was mentioned. At that time, I was on a real vampire kick and had heard a lot of good things about it, so I decided to get the first episode just to try it out. I'll be honest...when I was first watching Welcome to the Hellmouth, I couldn't figure out what all the hype was about. But as soon as I saw the cliffhanger at the end, I knew I had to get the rest of the episodes. I really liked season 1, but it wasn't until around the latter half of season 2 when I realized, "This is seriously the most incredible thing I've ever watched."

I finished seasons 1 and 2 in the span of maybe a week, and, because season 3 wasn't on iTunes, I was desperate to find it. Luckily, I got the Chosen Collection for Christmas, and burned through seasons 3-7 within the span of about three weeks. After that, I got Angel, which took me longer because I couldn't get into it quite as much, and finished it in a few months. After I was done with that, I was desperate for more Joss, so I bought the pilot of Firefly. The first couple of times I tried to get through the pilot, I got really bored after the first hour or so. Eventually, I managed to get through the episode, and decided that I liked it enough to give in another try, which was a very good decision. I absolutely loved The Train Job, and bought the rest of the season, which I watched in about a week.

I really didnt realize that there were so many people so new to the show. I guess I assumed that everyone was watching it since it aired. Completely oblivious to the fact that it finished its run 6 years ago.

Let's see...when it started airing I was about 7 and didn't speak a word of English...and in German buffy is actually not really that great
uhm I cant really remember when I started watching Buffy, all I know that it was a rerun of the first season, ( here in austria)

September 1998. Because that was the date a new Irish channel TV3 debuted, and they showed it every Thursday night.

My dad started watching Buffy when it first started in the UK and I watched it with him every week 🙂.. I must have been about 6 I think and I remember that giant praying mantis thing scared me : erm :.

When I first started watching Buffy? I can't remember, but I know I sent "Xander or Oz"-headed e-mails with a like-minded friend early in -98. Since then, I've been a bit of an on'n off follower of Buffy, with no tv for most of my uni days and no computer of my own it's not excactly easy to follow a tv series. For a while I read scripts that were posted on a German page that later was shut down, and at some point I got Season 5 on VHS (still had no telly, though) on sale in a Sci-Fi shop near Edinburghs North Bridge (excess information for those who may know the shop 😉 ). My big Buffy Extraavaganza started when I had my first child. I lost a lot of blood :: vampire, and was in a lousy shape afterwards. He was a slow eater. So I'd lie in bed, with a tiny DVD-player and headphones, while breastfeeding my son and watching Buffy DVD's that I'd borrowed from a friend.

I feel like an old relic. Heh.

I watched a few episodes when it was first on in Finland yeeeaars ago but I never got sucked into. About a year ago I started watching Angel and when I was done with that, I thought I have to see Buffy too. Now I'm in love with both and slowly watching my way through Buffy!

Obsessive with a capital O :p
Can't remember exactly. It was season one on BBC2, in about.... 1998? 1999? I have always had a vamp thing going and was a fan of the film, so it followed I would watch it. But it wasn't until Angelus I got hooked.

Introduced a few friends to it, joined my first boards in 1999/2000 (never much cared for The Bronze/WB board) and have been hooked on boards and Buffy, (particularly Buffy-boards!) ever since. Went on some meets with my old boards - that was fun. And met some people at Eclipse in 2002 from my old boards too. So my obsession is an oldish one! I was sucked in early...

There's nothing quite as comfy to slip into as an old obsession.
Whenever it first aired in Australia...I was intrigued from the moment I saw the ads saying it was coming and I was 13/14 at the time.

I remember when all my school friends were into it, we'd come back to school on the Tuesday morning after it aired on Monday night and go "OMG!!" and all that jazz....I was the only one to stick with it after high school though, which is kinda sad (not of me, but for them).

I wish I was more into the comics...maybe one day.
