When Were You Sucked Into The Buffyverse??

I was there when it first started in the UK a long time ago 🙂 From the first episode I was sucked into the buffyverse and have been ever since 🙂

I remember when all my school friends were into it, we'd come back to school on the Tuesday morning after it aired on Monday night and go "OMG!!" and all that jazz....I was the only one to stick with it after high school though, which is kinda sad (not of me, but for them).

I know what you mean. back in the days when i was like 13 Buffy season6 aired for the first time in germany. i can remember sitting in art class and discussing dark Willow with another girl from my class. Or one time I was actually reading a Buffy book in class which led to the guys discussing how hot SMG was 😛
It's really sad how people at a time all 'like' a show as long as it's new and in, but then as soon as it's not the newest thing anymore they don't watch it ever again. In later years all the Buffy referencing at school I got was one girl saying she liked Spike.
Well, now that I live in a house where I made sure to spread Buffy-coolness myself everywhere there's fortuntately a lot of buffy talk around again 😀

I remember that I had heard of BTVS tv show and had seen the movie....but didn't really know or care about it. I saw my first random show on tv. I think it was the S5 finale and I was like what the heck is going on? She jumped in a portal to save her sister? Why is everyone so upset? Ha ha. And then I never watched it again...untill I met the ultimate buffy fan when I was interning. Someone who worked there had every season and so the ultimate fan started watching buffy on her 2 off days. I mean she created a buffy vortex all day for 2 days every week and after work too. One thing led to another and after like 2 epsiodes i was hooked. It was work and watch Buffy. And then we started Angel....eventually we had to part ways but I will never forget our shared buffyverse extravaganza!!!

I've watched it since the beginning and back then I was about 18. I think. I never got into the Angel series until last year when I borrowed a frien'd set. I'm now a proud owner of the entire Buffy and Angel series and haven't looked back.

I've seen Firefly but never got it either, didn't even see one episode of Tru Calling or HIMYM.

I was 19 and Buffy was airing it's final season (but I never watched it on television really). I had read some good critical reviews of the show that mildly intrigued me. But I was also really into 24 at the time, and that was my must-see television.

One night I was out drinking with some friends, and everybody decided they were going to call it a night early. Everybody was really tired....except me. I had just begun drinking beers and I didn't want to go home! "Who's with me!?" I asked defiantly....and they all said they really just wanted to go home. So I needed something to do and drinking by myself sounded kind of sad (or awesome?). So I stopped by Wal-Mart and looked around for something I could waste my paycheck on. I stumbled across Buffy season two and thought to myself, "It's a little stupid to spend money on a series you've never seen before. Then again, I have been drinking and you're supposed to make bad decisions when your drunk. At least I've just wake up with a DVD next to me."

So I bought me some Buffy, took it home, unwrapped it, tossed it in the DVD player.....

And I really didn't care that much for the first episode I watched. Had I just seen it on TV, I probably wouldn't have bothered watching another episode. But I'd already paid for that DVD and it wasn't going to rot on my shelf! So I kept watching, and liked it a bit more with each passing episode until I started to get to know the characters and really get into the swing of it. By the time I finished the DVD, I was reaaaaallly getting into it. The next year, I moved into a house with a few friends and we didn't have cable. Naturally to keep myself entertained, I started buying Buffy and Angel DVDs (though not all the seasons were out by this point) and have been a pretty obsessive fan ever since though I've definitely passed the height of my Buffy obsession what with having seen it all 500 times by this point (not literally, don't give me that look).

Anyway, the internet is a Buffy fan's best friend, because (hard as it may be it believe to some of you) I don't know anyone else besides me who watches Buffy or Angel. Not that it's a topic I bring up daily, so there's probably some of them out there but I seem to be the only one out of my group.

According to my mum, I used to always have the WB on when I was younger and so I began watching BtVS right from the beginning. I was 8 then and very interested in paranormal subjects. In fact, it's because of the character of Angel that my old obsession with vampires began. Every Halloween from that year on until I was 13 I went trick-or-treating as a vampire and never got sick of it. However, when Angel began, I really couldn't get into it at all.

VH just wants to let you know that we love you. Happy V day!
i accually started watching it when it was out on TV, dunno when i started cuz i was about 7? but after it stopped on tv i lost interest... but then i was brought back by Aly Fan to the fun of buffy! and i thank you 😀

I'd heard about the show for a few years, but never was interested. It took me seeing "How I Met Your Mother" and falling head over crush with Alyson Hannigan. I saw in her c.v. where she did Buffy and they had some pictures of her as Willow. Well. I rented the first season from Netflix and within five minutes of "Welcome to the Hellmouth" I was hooked. I got the Chosen Collection as soon as I could and am well into my second go-round. I've also gotten Angel and am making my way through it as well. Never gets tiresome, always fresh.

Aly crush karma :)
It was around December '98 or January '99, when seasons 1 and 2 first aired here in Germany (they aired them right after another, station had bought both at the same time), so I was 24. A good friend of mine back then told me that this new show on TV was way better than its idiotic title suggested, that she'd even come to follow it regularly, and I should give it a try. Well, I listened to her, tuned into my first ep - "Inca Mummy Girl" - and was instantly hooked, which had loads to do with Willow/Aly, whom I crushed on the first moment I laid eyes on her... and especially in that cute Eskimo costume. 🙂

It was when I first got satellite. The show was already over and Angel s5 was hairing (although I didn't start watching Angel until after it was over) There were reruns of Buffy every day of the week and I remember that the first ep. I saw was the one with the fear demon and I only saw the last minute so all I got to see was a tiny winy demon get cruched 🙂 So don't exacly be suprise that I didn't get hook on that first scene. After that, my brother really stared to watch it everyday so I decided not to watch it just to contradic what he was doing. But then I decided to watch one and it was 'Where the wild Things are' Them my brother sort of got traumatize over the Riley/Buffy thing so he stopped and I started watching it everyday. Then I got really hooked after a couple of episode and I found other channel that was playing it so I was watching s1, s4, s6 and s7 at the same time 4times a day. It was in 2004 so I was 12y old

LOL! bad first scene to tune into! XD
i watched it from day one. I rember my dad saying to me and my sister that theres a new show on sky one about vampires and stuff and we got excited.
and since then we was hooked. me more so 2 my sister.
I also remember watching the 1st ever charmed i loved it! im obsessed with charmed to.

I watched Firefly last year and got hooked on it and had to face the sadness knowing there was only one season and a movie.

Then about 1 month ago my girlfriend bought the Angel box set and made me watch it and at first I was skeptical because I don't generally like things with vampires and such in it but I'm hooked and its turned into one of my favorite shows. I'm not experiencing that same kind of sadness as I did with Firefly as we're watching season 4 and I know theres only one left.

I did buy all 17 After the Fall comics though to read after.

After this we're going to start on Buffy because shes buying that box set. I'm looking forward to seeing Angelus as a big bad.

I started watching buffy about 3 weeks ago. Angel about 4 months ago.

I used to be shit scared of vampires. Like, couldn't watch anything with them in scared. My housemates would watch angel in the lounge and I would walk past shielding my eyes. Then they were watching Life of the Party (Angel, S5) and I just had to see what they were all laughing about ("You walk aloneeee" & the Elevator Scene & "peepee" anyone??). After that I fell hard and fast. I watched Angel season 5 by mid December, and got the box-set for Christmas. I then started watching Buffy about 3 weeks ago, and am currently trying to borrow season 6 off my house-mate - however, she doesn't seem to want to let me have it in my room because she knows she won't get it back 'til I'm done!

Well, I watched Buffy (mostly seasons two and three) when it originally aired. I watched Angel every now and then too. I was about eight at the time, and I loved it. I even dressed up as Buffy for Halloween one year. I had a black pleather jacket, a stake my dad made me, and my accompanied Trick-or-Treat friend was a vampire. 🙂

Then I rediscovered Buffy about a year ago, and have since bought all the seasons on DVD and basically memorized it all. I'm in the process of buying the Angel seasons now.

Oh god. It was so long ago that I got sucked in, I was pretty young when the pilot first aired and there was nothing else good on TV. It was okay at first, but it got better as it went along so I stuck with it. And David Boreanaz was HOT. (Okay, I was young, I have an excuse for that. XD)
And then life went on and I would watch it but after Angel ended I got interested in some other stuff after a couple of months, but got back into it a couple of months ago. Although Ed Westwick has seemed to have taken of my life now. XD

Did anyone else have someone kind of guide them through the world of Buffy?

I started watching Buffy in October (I believe) of 2008. I had made fun of my cousin for the past several years for being a fan having never seen a single episode except for Hush one night at a party when I was drunk... which I thought I remembered enjoying. I was visiting her in Chicago and Buffy came up and she showed me a couple of the videos she's edited, and it intrigued me. Later in the evening, she coyly asked if I wanted to watch the first episode of Buffy. I responded: "Thank God! I've been hoping you'd ask me all night!"

I was instantly hooked. Over the next couple months, we continued our saga. I would watch here in Columbus on Hulu or Toudou, and text her all along. We'd discuss the important episodes over a cigarette on our respective balcony/fire escape. It was all very romantic. Eventually, she took some vacay for her birthday and came to visit me. We watched half of season 5, and seasons 6 and 7 in their entirety in less than FOUR days. It was a blast. Not long after, I returned to Chicago where it all began to watch the final season of Angel. Only now will she let me roam the Buffy-cyber-verse freely!

Because of my cousin, I'm more deeply connected to and admire Buffy. Because of Buffy I am closer to my cousin than ever. Buffy is a beautiful thing.

During the Angel finale trip, I "proposed" to her with the Buffy/Angel Claddagh ring set, asking, "Will you be my partner in Buffy 'til death do us part?". We're total geeks. She agreed of course! Thusly our journey continues. 🙂

When Aly fan made me watch it, i would say around 1 and a bit years ago it actually started when i would sit down in the middle of my sisters floor (aly fan) she would always give me a strange look as i gazed up at the tv hypnotysed by the show but after time of me randomly walking in and watching the show it became the norm i didnt understand what was really going on but it was all the violenve and the monsters i thought i was great until we started the buffathon were we watched all seven seasons in a row then i relized it was more than great it was brilliant the best thing i ever watched and ever will watch and here i am now one own going obssesion after on the boards buffying it up with all you guys

Well, I will tell my story...

First though, understand that I have never been a big fan of TV shows. I certainly watched reruns of Simpsons, Seinfeld, Cheers and even Three's Company during dinner hour over the years, but I never was one to make sure I was home so I could catch a favorite show. Really the only reason I have a TV is for movies, pro-wrestling and sports (and now Dollhouse).

I was working in retail back in 1999, as a manager, and often invited my assistants out after work to the bar I went to every night. Two of them (dating) would never come along on Tuesdays, since the girl said she had be home to watch "her angel", and then she told me the basic gist of Buffy. She even told me that the lead girl (Buffy) fell in love with a vampire, who was good but then turned bad...blah blah blah. I tuned her out and would make fun of her for all this nonsense every week.

So then it was December of 2007, I was nosing around and stumbled upon a download for the complete 144 episodes of Buffy, that this guy had shrunk down to 80 megs each. So the whole thing would fit onto 3 DVD's. I thought what the heck, I will grab them...maybe watch it some day.

A few days later, I was terribly bored, so I decided to watch a few episodes (in their reduced state, the video was about the size of the screen of an ipod). I think in 2 days, I ended up watching the entire first season.

I wasn't a psycho fan of the show yet though. I loved 1-7:Angel and 1-12😛rophecy Girl, but the other episodes of Season 1 weren't outstanding (Good, best TV I ever saw, but not Outstanding). Buffy's speech in the library during Prophecy Girl changed my mind and made me want to see at least a few episodes yet of Season 2.

So, tired of the small video, I got the full sized. I made it to 2-3:School Hard which brought Spike and Dru...and I wanted to see more of them.

2-14:Innocence raised my interest to a new level. After the bedroom scene, which I replayed 5 times straight...I knew I was going to watch until the end of Season 2. I guess this is the moment I was sucked in.

2-17😛assion is my all time favorite Buffy episode, and what I consider the best 40 minutes of TV ever.

2-22:Becoming Part 2 changed everything. I have never cried during a simple TV show, but I bawled like a baby at the end when she stabbed him and "Full of Grace" plays. It was at that point I said I was going to watch all 144 episodes no matter what.

It took me until May of 2008 to finish. I then spent the summer and early fall re-watching with my daughter (and my wife on occasion)...and we still re-watch episodes over and over.
I am now working my way through Angel the Series...just starting Season #5. We also have the DVD box sets, calendars, posters, books, and other Buffy-related merchandise in the house now.

Sorry this was so long...first time I ever told this story.
