Where do you live?

I'm not asking for detailed accounts just a general idea. I just thought it would be nice to discuss where we all live as there is a vast majority of us in different places of the world. I was thinking perhaps where it is you live, what its like i.e town/city/country, what you like about it what you don't, the weather, what you do for fun etc. You get the gist.

I'll start...

I like in a connurbation called Worcestershire, England. It's very rural and quite pretty I suppose, its the middle earth of the UK. The weathers pretty hit and miss, at the moment its damp and dreary 🙁. Theres not a fat lot to do, we're a good hour away from the nearest beach. There are a fair few pubs, a nearby waterpark and lots of shopping as well as living near Birmingham the second city of the UK. The town I actually live in is fairly boring about 60,000 people not great for anything much if I'm honest. Its fairly central for everywhere you need to go and obviously I have a lot of friends here but I wish there was more to do and the weather was better. For fun we usually go to the pub/cinema/shopping. I much prefer the hustle and bustle of London and would love to move their although I love the relaxed vibe in Newquay, Cornwall too which is a beautiful place.

Please discuss it would be nice to get to know whats going on in the world more.

I live in Raleigh, North Carolina. I live in the capital city of North Carolina. People who don't live in North Carolina often tend to think Charlotte is the capital because it's bigger. I have a friend who lives in Charlotte and he informed me that the people who live in Charlotte know that and love it and think it's funny. Us Raleighites hate it. The weather here makes up it's own mind. A couple days ago, the high was like the lower 80's upper 70's (cool for this time of year), and today the high was 97. That's not uncommon, for the temperature to change over 10 degrees in a day or two. There's not much to do here, mainly, my friends and I like to go to the parks (we have many) and swing. We're fun like that.

Yeah, I don't really know what to say... Raleigh's a boring place, but I do love it. I'm glad I live here. I did live in Durham for the first six years of my life, I'm glad I don't live there anymore... It's got really really really poor people and really really really rich people. The rich people are there because of Duke University (which is in Durham) and the poor people are there because of the old plantations around Durham. They have one of the worst public school systems in the state. It's sad... I'm glad I live in Wake County. And I'm glad I went to school before Wake County went to hell. Now I'm rambling about school systems... I'm going to stop. I'm in an ADD mood if you all couldn't tell... haha

I live in NYC. I love living here but I can't do a whole bunch of things because everything in New York is really expensive. But I can't imagine living anywhere else.

The summers are really hot and humid. I hate summer. Plus its full of tourists. Everywhere you look its people in horrible outfits taking pictures O_O

I live in a town in Sweden called Varberg, if you translate it into English it's 'pusmountain'. And sometimes they do surveys about what part of town people here think is the worst part, and according to the population here I live in the worst part of Pusmountain. I don't agree though, it's not that bad here. There has been some problems before like arson, fights, drugs, vandalism and some neo-nazis but other than that it's all good. I like it here.

Oh and it's just across the street from the school I went to, which was great.

Also from NYC!! Well, not FROM NYC. I'm originally from a tiny town in Kentucky, but I moved to NY state after high school then moved to NYC full time a few months ago.

I love it. Its hot, its expensive, its sometimes a little smelly, but it's my favorite city in the world and I'm madly in love with it. So happy I live here!

I live in a town in western Pennsylvania.

I love it here. I only with I could live a little further outside of the town and more towards the country. Love the country. Love the trees. Love the flowers in this area.

It's just nice.

hahahahah that's what I think about Gastonia. Legit, I know nothing about Gastonia other than it's close to Charlotte.

I actually live in Gastonia, NC. I laughed so hard when I saw the comment by Konoe on zobothehobo's rep. As everyone is always like huh?... it's close to Charlotte. And so I just usually claim it for most conversations. I'm only about 20 mins from Charlotte so its not to far out of reach.

In my actual city though it really sucks. Okay we have lots of chain restaurants, a mediocre mall, chain stores (Wal-Mart, Target etc) so its definitely not a small town like a lot of people often think (population of over 72,934). But to do anything such as attend concerts, go to an actual decent movie theatre (or ones that play good indies), or eat a non chain restaurant we go to Charlotte. I like Charlotte well enough, definitely prefer it to Gastonia, but I am really over North Carolina in general. I really like Raleigh when I visit my uncle (mostly for gigs) but from where I have done traveling, I really like the more open and accepting attitude of a lot of other places than the south. But out of all of NC, Raleigh and Wilmington are the nicest to me. Raleigh appealing most to my own interests (namely indie concerts).

My entire family - yes, pretty much, my entire extended family lives in my city. While that can have its charms as we see each other often, its also suffocating too. Some distance wouldn't be unhealthy for me personally.

Regarding the weather, it usually involves the summers being really hot and humid and cool winters that can provide snow. Just last week we had a colder spell down in the low 70s and now its back to nearly 100F again. The stagnant air is something that I hate about where I live. When its hot, its hot - mainly because the air feels heavy and its hard to breathe.

So all in all could be better, could be worse. But I definitely don't plan to live here for too much longer - or at least I hope 😉

I live in Rome, the City of Seven Hills and Three Rivers. Rome, GEORGIA, that is, in Northwest Georgia, USA. And, yes, we do have those rivers and hills, and yes, that's why the city has that name.

And, yes, Rome, Georgia, USA is the greatest single place for living that I have ever seen, and, no, I will never willingly leave here again, except for occasional short visits elsewhere.

A suburb of Chicago, Illinois, USA. I love the city itself, I'm a city girl. But I hate the town I'm from. Everyone here is stuck-up, immature, conceded, rich, and boring. There is nothing to do in my suburb. Also, the teachers at my school suck. They have no idea what they're teaching most of the time. As for the weather, it's been crazy lately, I don't even know how to explain it.

Just a hell of a lot of white trash that is for sure! (And come on - in our historic district it literally says "G-Town" on street signs - horribly embarrassing!) Thankfully the area I live in is nice and suburby so its good. But I have lived in some really bad areas up until a few years ago.

Wilmington is an emotional connection. I grew up from a baby to 10 years old at the beach. All along the coast from Wilmington-Charleston. I lived with my Grandma at the time and I literally drove all around for almost two years when I was like 7 and lived place to place and saw a lot. I just have a lot of fond memories from that. But I actually haven't been back to Wilmington for more than one day since then, so who's to say I'd still feel the same. But the number one thing that attracts me to Wilmington is because it's the only area for film in the Carolina's. (Dawon's Creek, One Tree Hill, movies etc) are put into production there. Since I considered a career in film at one point, it was always a consideration for me out of the Carolinian cities. Curious why you hate it so much?

I hate it because it doesn't feel like the beach to me. It feels like a "sell out city" to me. I don't know how to describe it, but it just doesn't feel... right. Of the four times I've been to Wilmington, I didn't meet a single nice person on the street. I meet nice people on the street daily here. Just walking downtown in Raleigh, you can meet all sorts of nice people, I walked through downtown Wilmington and everyone was really rude. I just had really bad experiences. Plus, you smell the beach plus the city smells... which is weird. I don't like beach cities. I like beach towns.... If that makes sense.

And I want to go into film and TV too... which is part of why I want to move to California. I love North Carolina, I do. I will always be a North Carolinian at heart. But this is not where you need to be for that... and I always wanted to live in somewhere with an LA climate.

I gotcha. Yeah, my experiences in Wilmington were not bad, but that was many years ago and I was a kid. Since then I've only gone on one day so I wasn't there long enough to judge it recently.

Thats awesome about wanting to go into film too. I agree that is really where you would have to be for it (if not London/Toronto/New York). But I agree, I will always be a Carolina girl and I don't want to necessarily lose that but I just know there are bigger cities that cater more to the kind of lifestyle I want. I do think NC is a good place for a family though. But I have no desire for that so its not really for me anymore.

A small town in the south of Sweden. Town by swedish standards, I highly doubt americans would call it that. Even a small one.

If you're an outgoing person it's not the place to move to but I like the small feeling and it's much bigger compared to the place I grew up in. Still you can get to any part of town by bike which show you it isn't big. To me that didn't grow up here, I can be pretty anonymous which I like. Not crowded and close to nature, I can be in the woods in two minutes. I don't drive so having lots of trains to pick from if I want to go anywhere is also nice. My neighbourhood is quiet so anytime I actually hear my neighbours I react/notice it.

I've never been a big city kind of person. Sure they got a lot of things for them but since I'm a quiet one I don't need the crowds and the stress. Even though I guess you can adjust to it if you must. For a short time I actually considered moving to Gothenburg (2nd biggest city in Sweden) but obviously it never happened.

I live just out of Perth in Western Australia. But Perth is getting so big now that soon we will just be another suburb 🙁 Im close enough to the city to get to appointments and visit family, but far enough away that I can use it for an excuse when I cant be bothered or cant afford the petrol.

Im about 40 minutes from the beach and its mostly farms around where I live, so I love it. It gets really hot in summer (stints in the mid 40's celcius where I am) but the winters are pretty mild by international standards, no snow and not a whole lot of rain but we are really not designed for the cold.

We are the most isolated city on the planet - so you can imagine how high food and general living costs are. In the near future I may be forced to move further from the city to be able to afford to have a roof over my head. House prices are ridiculous so I cant even dream of getting into the housing market. You also need a car, unless you live right in the city as the public transport system is pretty crappy.

The weather is beautiful, the people are mostly great and its still small enough that everyone is a friend of a friend of a friends cousin, the drivers are terrible but I love it and wouldnt want to live too far from Perth.
