The thread I opened about being a Buffy 10 years from now gave me an idea for a more general thread:

All we know is that we want to be happy. That's our main goal (usually).
So where do you see yourself in 10 years? Life wise, career wise, family wise, dreams wise, and so on.

I try to make my dreams not too specific so I don't get disappointed... but I really really really want to have at least two kids. Dunno if I'll be married (don't really care TBH), but I also want to have a good job somewhere in publishing (I used to think I'd like to be an editor, but now I'd prefer to be an agent or a rights person).

Trying (and failing, probably) to be a writer of some sort. Maybe a journalist, maybe a screenwriter. Of course with the job market at the moment I'll probably have to end up being a teacher.

In 10 years I'll have a job as some sort of social worker. I like my job and I have great co-workers. I live close to my friends. I am happy. I probably have a kid, and the kid is probably amazing.

Where I think I'll end up and where my dream place to end up are different. both make me happy though so I'll say both.

My realistic where I think I'll end up 10 years from now: I think I'l be in LA probably waitressing... maybe doing something else while getting smaller or guest roles on TV shows or in movies still waiting for the ONE that will make me a star. MAYBE I'll have made Marching Band: The Movie... but that's a maybe.

My dream place to end up: I would love to be the star of a TV show. Doesn't matter what it is... in my head sometimes when I picture it, I'm working for Joss... And sometimes when I picture it, I'm not staring in a show... I'm creating one. I've created Claire's Choices (the idea for a show I've got) and I'm doing that. Sometimes, I've co-created this show with Joss because he heard my idea and thought it was more than fantastic and wanted in. Always in these scenarios James is my best friend... like my dad. I tell him everything and he's always there for me. And I'm dating Alessandra Torresani. But these are all wild crazy dreams I know what actually happen.

In 10 years I want to have a stable career (with good pay and great benefits), be healthy and happy, have a husband, one child (or pregnant or planning to adopt), I want to own my own home and I'd like to have completed my 30 by 30 (thirty things to accomplish by age thirty).

I think Zo has a point, there's a realistic future, and the dream future. So like she did, I'll write down both.

Realistic:
I'll have probably gotten my qualifications in Media, but I'll be working in a supermarket or something. I really want to be working on a great TV show (my dream is to be an editor/script writer/director on Doctor Who), but I just can't see it happening. I think I'll either be married or have a partner and a pet, hopefully anyway.

Dream:
As I said, I want to be working on Doctor Who, doing ANYTHING, I don't care what I do (as long as it's good pay.)
There's also the Glee version. Where I'll have starred in the third season of the show, and saying for an extra two before my character graduates. Me and Cory Monteith will have hit it off and be best friends (possibly more if I have my way), and I do the convention circuit for a few years, whilst being Cory's roomie. I'll also have written an autobiography by then, since most washed-up actors seem to do that when their career is down the toilet. 😀

Hmm in 10 years i will be 33. I see myself with my fiance (will then be husband) in a lovely house, me an IT teacher with either one young child or one on the way.

I think that is pretty realistic as im studying towards being a tacher and my fiance and i have talked about marriage and kids

I had my whole life planned out by the time I was 15. I was to go to college and get a degree in Marine Biology. Right now, half of that is done. I have a bachelors degree and Marine Biology and Psychology. But that's not enough. I need to get a masters in both fields before I can do anything worth getting paid for. While I'm working on my masters, I'm going to continue working on at my unpaid internship over at the lab by Cocoa Beach, Fl. So far, we have rescued 14 dolphins and I have been able to successfully determine how much like humans dolphins think. Not only that, but I am able to now calculate the gender of a sea turtle before they hatch and without using any x-rays. 🙂 After I get my Masters, I plan on going on the NOAH ship and sailing the seas for at least 7 years. By the time that ends, it will have been 10 years since I wrote this. Then I'm going to retire from NOAH and open my own research lab facility right here in Florida, and another in Australia 😀

Is it bad that I had all of this planned out, and yet, because of my condition, I have had to put my plan on hiatus? *sigh*

Realistically, I don't think I'll do anything past getting my masters, unless some miracle happens. Hell, if 2012 is real, I won't even be able to get my masters 😛

Whoa, you've done some amazing things! It'll be awesome if you succeed in your plans! :D

Sounds like you're doing vool work. Have you published anything on dolphins/humans?

Your plan sounds similar to mine, particularly the "open my own research lab facility" part. :D
It would be good to do some travelling, so in ten years I'd like to be in a financially comfortable enough position to do alot of travelling to different places. But even if I'm not financially comfortable I think I'd like to do as much travelling as I can. It doesn't have to be really far flung and glamorous, just visiting different places really. So in ten years, I would hope I'll have done a lot of that, and be ready maybe to settle down 🙂

Like Zoe, I've always had realistic plans and less likely to happen plans.
But there is actually for me another plan which is kind of an intermediate plan.

In 10 years, I'll be 29. That's too early for me to settle down, have kids, get married.
If I don't have any problem, I'll graduate from university at 23. Before that, I can't really do anything else than studying.

The realistic plan is the one where after my studies, I start working at a/multiple magazine(s)/channels/tv-show/radio...I'll work in medias, that's for sure. That would be the official job. Beside that, I will for my own fun realize photo-reportages, web-documentaries, and I'd be an amateur photographer (studio-photographer as well as events photographer and random photographer). I'd also have a musical blog to reunite Belgium through music and I'd draw comics about the craziness of everyday's life.

That brings me to my intermediate objectif: Building a web-platform of web-documentaries, photo reportages, on different topics such as feminism, homelessness, social phenomens,....I'd be the creator and boss of that platform, and I would cast (and maybe at some points hire) people who will also realize web-documentaries and photo-reportages. The point of the platform would be to inform interested people on different subjects than the usual news.
If that works well and I make myself a name, I'd arrive to the less realistic objectif:

Giving my voice to movies. I don't want to act because I'm terrible (mostly because of the facial expressions) but it's been a moment I've been thinking it would be cool to do the voice of characters in animated/3D movies!
I would also create tv shows, and a line of clothing that suits every morphology.
Eventually, when I travelled enough and worked hard enough, I'll take things a bit slowier and only stick to one project at the time. I will marry some celebrity who will be a mix between Elijah Wood, Ewan Mcgregor and Johnny Depp and I'll live happy, rich, complete, and I'll use my money to help the world (which I can't really do that much now with no money).

In case that the world doesn't end in 2012, and I'll still be around ten years from now, I pretty much see myself exactly where I am today. I've got no plans to go anywhere.

Without being too morbid.. 10 years, I probably stand a good chance of being dead.

Yeah, that isn't morbid at all.
I'm not sure- for a long time (10 years or so) I wanted to be a teacher then I tried it and it didn't work out, and I'm not sure I ever replaced it. So I'm still not sure that there's a career for me, although once my debts are paid off I'd like to try teaching English abroad, possibly in Eastern Europe.

More likely, though, I'll concentrate on my hobbies and interests, and just find the job that allows me to follow those without too much stress or pressure.

Which is what my husband is doing. A good choice, if you ask me.
In 10 years, I'll hopefully be a pediactric nurse or even a lawyer, because those are my 2 dream jobs. I would also like to live in Europe for the summer, and maybe Canada for most of the year. I keep changing my mind where I want to live and travel 🙂!

Well let's see. I'm 28 so, in 10 years I think I will probably have one more kid. I will probably be licensed as a foster parent, so I will need a bigger house than the one I own now. Since my actual and future spawn will be school age by then I will have reprised my job as a child and adolescent mental health therapist...my hubby should have his paramedic cert by then and should be a lieutenant. Plan to continue living here in GA and traveling a lot!

Realistic plan: I'll be single, but not loving it. I'll have some financial troubles, but a good teaching job, and will be living in an apartment in Ohio (which I LOVE, thank you very much...). I'll stay in touch with my family and friends, and every week I'll get together with some of my high school friends who are trapped in the place I willingly returned to. One of them is my ex, who I will still be in love with, but I'll be working on getting over that. Maybe at some point within the ten years from then to now, we'll have tried again.

I hope to goodness plan: I'll be happily dating as I work as an English teacher at my semi-alma mater. Whether my love is a boy or girl (or a certain girl my family hates...), people will accept us as a couple. We'll share an apartment, which isn't huge, but hey- it's comfortable and doesn't cost much. Apartment includes a big kitchen for me to cook in. We hang out with our friends often, and our life is busy, but we still find time to plan for our future.

Yeah, right plan: After acquiring a lot of money, I will be finishing up my Criminology doctorate with my partner by my side. Whether by birth or adoption, we'll have a kid or two. Maybe twins. We'll have a nice house in the county, or in the small town where I went to school. We'll be next door to our close friends, who also have kids who our kids like to play with. There is no financial trouble, and life is perfect except for the general downfalls that everyone has.
