Simple question - you can choose anywhere in the world to live, where and why?

I live in London, have done for 2 years this June and its marvellous.
I wouldn't want to be anywhere else at this point in my life.

I spent 24 years trying to get here, now I'm here I wanna spend a while enjoying it.

I live where I want to...which is the UK at the moment.

Having spent half my life in California and half in the UK, i have come to the conclusion that where you live (within reason) has very little to do with how you experience life. I base this though on my own lifestyle where I never remain in the same place for any extended period of time. This has a lot to do with my climbing, which is often described as a lifestyle instead of a sport... i go where the climbing is...I could easily pack up and leave tomorrow for the Alps for 6 months.

I think the UK is the mecca though for people with very like minded views to my own. Very down to earth people and a beautiful country... and awesome climbing buddies! California offers this also, and I always see myself living between both there and the UK and my heart is very much split between the two. I can see myself living temporarily in other places, Australia, Vietnam, Switzerland...but settling down... has to be one of the two. But I dont feel tied down at all (in fact, when I begin to feel locked in is when I decide I need to move...i need to be free)

I'd like to live anywhere that has awesome old libraries. I'm thinking that's probably England.

That wouldn't be too bad I think. I'm pretty content in the US though.

oldest library is supposedly in Egypt somewhere
I was born in Rome, Georgia, I grew up here, and I have no desire to reside permanently anywhere else. I've seen some beautiful, wonderful places all over the world, and met a lot of interesting people. I must admit that it would be a lot of fun to stay in some of those places for awhile, but this is my home. This is where I want to be.

Well I've lived in Aberdeen all my life and i haven't loved it nor have i hated it...i don't really have anything to compare it with...It's wierd but i can't imagine living anywhere else...but if i could move anywhere...ermm...i'd probably just go slightly more Southern...still in Scotland just Glasgow-ish area...they get nicer weather...well nice weather by scottish standards 😛

Well I live in sleepy old Perth in Western Australia at the moment, which has its moments, they just happen to be moments that I don't care to much about.

"It's a great place to bring up kids" Great. I just don't have any.
"It's so sunny and warm all the time!" That's great! Except I hate the heat.
"The pace is so slow, and relaxing" Which is great... If you're OLD!
"The beaches are the most beautiful beaches in the world" Yes, I do enjoy sand in my crevices, thank you.

All sarcasm aside, I would leave tomorrow if it wasn't for my family, which I'm very close to. Seeing as how they're the best family in the world.

I would like to move to Melbourne or Liverpool. Both fantastic cities.

Hehe Cait, Im nearly the opposite of you! Perth is a sleepy place but I love the slow semi country life, I just wish we had better nightlife! I love the sunny days and I LOVE the beach, although I dont go too often. I have no desire to have kids but if I did, WA would be where I would settle. I love where I live now, I have everything I could ever want (except maybe for extra storage space and a better net connection!) I live in a shed on 5 acres, right next door to RDA where I work and volunteer, and horses! I probably wouldnt like it so much if I didnt have air con tho!

I lived down south in Albany for a few years and it is probably my favorite place in the world (not that I have been very many places in the world). I think the mates I had down there had alot to do with it. Denmark/Albany, anywhere along the coast there is just beautiful. Secluded natural bays and beaches that are never crowded and heaps of camping, horse trails and good pasture. The problem was, once you finish high school there is NOTHING to do there. Its mostly young families and retirees there. One club (that was voted the worst in Australia by Triple J) and a couple of bars that have to close by midnight on weekends. The parties were great but the lifestyle even slower than Perth! Lately its grown soo much, they have a Target and Kmart and the cinema now has 4 screens! While I still never want to leave when I visit, it would get boring after a while. We all had to move up to Perth for Uni and most of my mates have stayed here (or gone traveling around the place). It wouldnt be the same living long term there without them and you are very limited in job opportunities.

I've lived in Sydney for a little while, and visited there pretty much every year since I was born but it is far too hectic for me, everyone is so impatient! Melbs was nice, I think I could live there for a little while but again its too 'city' like for me. The Gold Coast and the islands up the coast, is probably my favorite holiday spot but I couldnt live there, I would defiantly kill my liver there!

The only place overseas I have ever been was LA (if you dont count Rotto 😛) and I felt like I couldnt even breathe there! The pollution was so thick and it felt very dirty. I think Albany would be very much like NZ and Tassie so I have a feeling I could live there too.

I might go to Perth for my semester abroad! I they accept me, that is ;)
I couldn't answer the question seriously because I'm about to be free from my lease in the coming months and have no clue where I'd like to live next.

Even since I was about two or three, I've said I wanted to live in California...But now I'm unsure, I HATE where I live now, but I don't know if I want to leave the country. I'd love to live in London, but my Dad moved there when he was a teenager and ended up back home after six months, 'cuz apparently it's not an easy place to live if you've never lived there before, or something. So, for now here. When I'm older...Who knows.

im sick of the bloody sight of glasgow ha,

i'd be gratefuul to live anywhere in america (L)
especially newyork

Hmmm...Moz's, Mes' or Aussie's backyard. Then at night, I would tap on the window to their bedroom, and make scary noises. Freak them out (sw)

Nah seriously... I'd like to live in England. I think it's cool, and exiting for a small town girl like me. Or Japan. I have always been in love with the japanese culture. It's just so...wonderful!

USA !!! That's where I want to live. Big cities !!! NYC, Washington, Chicago or more western, Los Angeles, Seattle,... But for now, I'm stuck in the east of France, in Strasbourg. :uhh:

It's interesting that so many people want to live in America. I don't really see the appeal of it myself.

No one wants to live anywhere exciting? No France? Or Antarctica? Or Africa? Or Japan?

It's funny that when you live somewhere, especially if it's where you were born, you usually do not find the place exciting, while other people do. I don't see France as an exciting country. It's a beautiful country for sure, but for me the US are far more exciting, and fascinating. By the way, is there a thread about where members of BB come from? It would be interesting.

Not sure where I want to live. I like it where I am right now but I do see some downsides to it too. Am I however a small city guy. I like the slow pace (of course it's nice if something happens but I'm not a fan of the big city mentality and stress) and the more "homegrown" feeling. But it's nice to be able to have the good things of a big city too. So I'm kind of torn. As for country though I'm not looking for an adventure. I'm more than happy to stay in Sweden.

America is almost glorified all the time. I'm not surprised. I'd say that as most countires it has it's good sides and it's bad but when it comes to America people have a tendency to look at the "good" things they see on tv.

Continents But it's dead so you can't post in it anymore.
