Hehe Cait, Im nearly the opposite of you! Perth is a sleepy place but I love the slow semi country life, I just wish we had better nightlife! I love the sunny days and I LOVE the beach, although I dont go too often. I have no desire to have kids but if I did, WA would be where I would settle. I love where I live now, I have everything I could ever want (except maybe for extra storage space and a better net connection!) I live in a shed on 5 acres, right next door to RDA where I work and volunteer, and horses! I probably wouldnt like it so much if I didnt have air con tho!
I lived down south in Albany for a few years and it is probably my favorite place in the world (not that I have been very many places in the world). I think the mates I had down there had alot to do with it. Denmark/Albany, anywhere along the coast there is just beautiful. Secluded natural bays and beaches that are never crowded and heaps of camping, horse trails and good pasture. The problem was, once you finish high school there is NOTHING to do there. Its mostly young families and retirees there. One club (that was voted the worst in Australia by Triple J) and a couple of bars that have to close by midnight on weekends. The parties were great but the lifestyle even slower than Perth! Lately its grown soo much, they have a Target and Kmart and the cinema now has 4 screens! While I still never want to leave when I visit, it would get boring after a while. We all had to move up to Perth for Uni and most of my mates have stayed here (or gone traveling around the place). It wouldnt be the same living long term there without them and you are very limited in job opportunities.
I've lived in Sydney for a little while, and visited there pretty much every year since I was born but it is far too hectic for me, everyone is so impatient! Melbs was nice, I think I could live there for a little while but again its too 'city' like for me. The Gold Coast and the islands up the coast, is probably my favorite holiday spot but I couldnt live there, I would defiantly kill my liver there!
The only place overseas I have ever been was LA (if you dont count Rotto 😛) and I felt like I couldnt even breathe there! The pollution was so thick and it felt very dirty. I think Albany would be very much like NZ and Tassie so I have a feeling I could live there too.
