Do you have an adopted dad like Giles? A bratty sister like Dawn? A homicidal maniac of an ex like Angelus? A "mousy" friend like Amy?

Which Buffy ship most resembles your real one?

I'd have to say Spuffy. My hubby and I were friends-by-circumstance, but we didn't really trust each other. Then, we formed a sort of respect and became friends by choice. There was always sexual tension, but we never acted on it. We couldn't. It would have been wrong. Some bad stuff happened. After that, we had a torrid, passionate, forbidden sort of relationship in which the "L" word was forbidden. Really, how we got together was pretty wrong. Then one of us went away. When we came back together, things moved very quickly toward a solid, stable, real sort of relationship. Unlike Spuffy, no one died. We got married, instead, and almost three years after our wedding, I still get butterflies whenever my hubby is around.

So I guess that's why I'm such a Spuffy shipper. Over the past decade or so, we've seen each other love other people. We've seen each other succeed and fail. We've seen the best and worst of each other. We're still seeing that. Every day. But we're loyal, longtime, trustworthy friends who'll forgive the bad stuff, cherish the good stuff, roll with all the punches in between, and stand together until the end.

What about you? Which Buffy ship does your real life ship most closely resemble?

Well I definietly have the bratty sister! also willow/xander...a friend who I know for years, for a little while wanted more but now we are like brother and sister...Also a little bit of Cordy/Xander...another friend, we slag (tease) each other mercilessly but really we adore each other!

Cool thread Palabra

You have a Willow/Xander? Aww, man! I'm jealous. That's awesome.
I definitely have a giles/buffy relationship with a teacher from high school. He was like a father to me, more than my own is. We clashed on things, i was stubborn (much like buffy) and needed someone to often be straight with me (like giles was) and he really helped me deal with some very serious issues i was dealing with.

To this day we are still close, I can call him anytime i need him, and sometimes we get together for lunch and stuff or i visit the school so we can talk. He's my confidant, for sure.

As far as my romantic relationship... I dont know who id compare it to. I guess it would be Buffy and Riley, maybe? As in, he takes care of me, he brings me down to earth, and i think Riley did that a lot for Buffy. Hopefully i will never take it for granted as i think Buffy did sometimes! And we are a little Xander/Anya in the uh, constantly being promiscuous way lol.

Awww! You have a Giles! That's so cute.

You're not Xander/Anya for likin' the love. You're only Xander/Anya if you talk about it every 5 seconds regardless of who else is in the room. lol.

Hmmm....cool thread by the way Palabra and now you've got me thinking....

Hmm, well my Mom and I are completely like Buffy and Joyce. She was the single working Mom and I was the teenage (and amazingly witty) only child. And that's why I also though the writers protrayed the single mom/daughter relationship so well as it completely reflected us even down to the Valentine's Day Pig-Out (the lifelong tradition among the loveless) and banter was a major theme between us. Hehe.

My group of friends in high school completely matched the Scooby Gang of the early years. We were so mismatched- and there was definitely a Willow in there (who I'm still close friends with now) and an Oz (He played guitar and was larconic almost to the point of being mute haha. His sarcastic voice was also a lot like his normal voice ;-)) and a money obsessed friend (who I'm also still close friends with) who I would have to compare to Anya.

As for my romantic relationship, god that's a tricky one. Hubby is very much the strong, protective, I'll-take-care-of-you-in-our-white-picket-fenced-house-on-the-west-coast type (which I love) so I think we do reflect a Buffy/Riley as despite all his protectiveness I'm still a very strong person in the relationship. So yes, most likely Buffy/Riley. Except he doesn't work for the military. At least as far as I know....haha.

(My relationships in High School were another matter as they tended to be very Bangel as my luck was I always ended up in a relationship that seemed full of the drama and the tragedy and the i-want-him-but-I-don't. Yes, I'm ashamed to say, I was one of *those* in High School....haha)

My ex and I had a relationship like Willow and Tara, me being like Tara in the relationship. We were very happy in the beginning, but later, he started doing things that I really didn't think was right, just like what Tara thought of Willow when she was addicted to magic. Things just got worse, and I couldn't take it anymore, so I told him that until he got his act together, I couldn't be with him, just like Tara did to Willow. Well, later I just couldn't stand us being apart, so I went back to him. I didn't get shot, of course, but that's how our relationship seemed to end. He started doing the same things, and that felt like a bullet through my chest.

I also have a Buffy and Giles relationship with my English teacher. I had her for English II last semester, and because of how great of a teacher she is, I now have her again for Honors English III. She's helped me so much, not just with school, but with other things as well. She's encouraged me to pursue my dreams with a greater passion, and she's helped me gain more insight into what I want to do with the rest of my life. She's sort of like my own personal Watcher!

Not a relationship thing, but as Joyce was going through the awareness of having a brain tumour, so was I.

Gosh, I just realized that I have my own Faith too! I have a friend who, like Faith, moved to my town unexpectedly. He was all "bad ass" like Faith, and he actually did try to kill me! He came at me one day with his car. I just did manage to jump out of the way. Later, he went off to jail because he had a "hit list" with a bunch of people in our school that he wanted to kill, and when the police found the "hit list" they also fund his plans to bomb the school.

Ooh, I have an Amy too! I practically live in the Buffyverse! I have another friend who's a witch, but she's into all the satanic stuff, and that's just not my cup of tea. Well, she tried to tempt me with it like Amy did Willow, but it didn't work. She's moved away now though.

I also tend to be like Buffy among my friends. Sometimes, when something's wrong, I tend to be the boss/leader.

I'm also like Buffy with the potentials. When I'm working with a group that's trying to learn something from me, I tend to give speeches. I like to hear myself talk! Lol!

I also have a relationship like Buffy has with herself. I haven't died, but I have a lot of inner demons, and it sometimes feels like everyone is depending on me, and that's hard a lot of the time. I feel like everyone is looking at me for answers, and it kills me when I can't help them.

I guess watching BtVS is sort of like therapy for me, since I deal with a lot of the same things as the characters do.

That's odd, 'cos the Satanists I knew were against the evil satanic stuff. Now the Black Witches I was friends with, what they practised was definitely evil, and as the saying goes, 'the devil protects his own'.
I have a Buffy/Willow as my friend and I. We haven't known eachother since we were tots or anything, but we have the kind of relationship Buffy and Willow had. Kinda hard to explain lol

People have told me that I'm a girl version of Xander...does that count? 😛

erm...I know quite a few Cordy's lol. But who doesn't? Hmmmm...gonna have to think of this a bit more

Great topic!!

At Junior High, I had a Willow/Oz relationship, sweet and puppy love.

In high school, I've been through a Xander/Faith experience. A badboy who used me for sex, and the naive girl I was, I taught it meant more, to my surprise, it didn't. He mocked me, forced me to bed (just like what happened with Faith and Xander in Consequences) except instead of trying to strangle me, he just pulled an Angelus and let me leave. That was an awful experience.

In college I had a Buffy/Riley relationship. He was the sweetest guy, but in the end I ruined it. *hits self*

Right now I'm in a Xander/Anya relationship. The guy is nice, but clings too much, reminds you of S4 Anya who followed Xander like a shadow.

I am sooo sorry to hear about your bad experiences with your life's version of Faith!
As I already mentioned in Which Buffy Character are you most like? I've got Bangel and Spuffy ships - one is past, one is present. (They guys just exteriorly reselmble Angel and Spike). As for their personalities - here they switch places - 'brunet' becomes "Spike", "blond" becomes "Angel". To some extent of course.

And like in Chosen Angel, Bangel guy returned and trying mess up my life these days...

My Spuffy relationship very similar to Palabra's love story, except for marriage part.
----
I've also got Buffy/Dawn like sibling-ship. Being the only child I have one friend who's way younger than me being my "brother". He's only child too, and being soulmates - we established this "sibling" ship - now, for outsider's eyes, we do appear as being real bro/sis. 🙂

The only buffy ship I can really think of that I can relate to is Amy and Willow.. only in this case me being Amy.

I wasn't turned into a rat of course but I had this friend who I'd been friends with since I was in primary school but we'd never been BEST friends or anything, I'd gone round to her house a few times but we'd never been that close. When we went to High school we started to get closer again and she'd come over to my house sometimes but at that stage i guess I was going through a "rebelious" period and she didn't have many other friends apart from me so I'd make her do things with me that we really shouldnt be doing.. In the end the school found out what we'd been doing and she refused to be my friend anymore, and actually I was quite proud of her, she'd always been quite vulnerable and didn't say no easily but after that she always stood up for herself and said no when asked to do anything she didn't want to do.

As for me though, unlike Amy, it was great for me too, I realised how stupid I'd been and started doing well at school, and felt confident in myself for the first time ever.

I don't have any realtionship yet but probably if I do anytime soon (but probably won't) it'll be like Oz/Willow!
cool topic by the way!

No relationships? No siblings? No friends? No mom like Joyce? No teacher like Giles? Surely you must relate to someone! We're not just talking about romantice relationships; I promise!
Oh, I just recalled, approximately one year ago, just two month before current ship I nearly ended up with having "Riley"-type-o'-guy around. It was terrible experience. Not a thing for me. Not at all. Well, caring, selfconfident guy maybe ain't such bad thing to have around, but it was doomed just like in BTVS. We were way too different, it would have never worked out. *shivers*

oooh yeah well yes I do have mom and siblings and dad and everything! so yeah! mom like Giles, sibling like Dawn I suppose and Dad VERY much like Giles! lol

I have a friend that was like Willlow, although, kind of like Willow, she seems to have gotten hooked on drugs and we don't talk a lot now. Not street drugs or anything, just was having trouble coping with life and now, through MANY doctors has many prescriptions that I don't think "mesh". Anyway, I tried to help and now we don't talk much...although, I can't say she's trying to destroy the world, she doesn't seem to think anything is a problem. Maybe the world ending is yet to come.

I also have an Anya in the sense that I have a friend who I really do like, although her ideas and theories rarely make sense to me or anyone else.

My hubby and I, I guess we're kind of like Xander/Anya or Angel/Spike...maybe Angel/Cordy too. We do a LOT of bickering back and forth, much of it sarcastic and sometimes others would think it's kind of mean. But, like those couples WE don't dwell on the snarky comments and we have each other's backs and honestly appreciate each other's strengths.

Also, at least like Xander/Anya and Angel/Cordy...we started out as friends who just hung out a lot and with the same people and kind of woke up one day and realized we were kind of "together". We're not talking about sex all the time in inappropriate situations or hopping on each other in dark corners...but we DO have two kids so I guess we did at some point. :lmao:

i have a sort of Dawn/Buffy relationship with my sister, in the sense that there's almost the same age difference between us as there was between the Summers' sisters, execpt my brother's in the middle. we bicker and argue a lot, but she's starting to grow up now, and become someone i think will end up being a really good friend.

i had a Buffy/Cordelia relationship with a girl i used to work with. no one really liked her, she was pretty much there because of the work and the fact that she was dating one of our friends, although i was the one to leave and i never talk to her anymore.

my friends were the Willow/Oz relationship in my life, i was sort of the Xander on the outside watching. they really were the best thing for each other until the guy couldn't control one side of his life (the fact that he could no longer live with his parents, not a werewolf problem) which was causing him to lash out at his girlfriend for no reason. so instead of putting them both through more misery, he left. really left. left the country left. he now lives in Australia. which actually worked out for the best, my friend has since found a new man, and is getting married, and the guy who left has settled into life in thw outback. veryone's happy!
