Which is the worst of the 50 states?

Texas was the winner (loser?) in the last forum I saw this competition done in. And so far, the state that brought us George W. Bush and a lot of not entirely necessary executions is off to an early lead.
 
i think i'll go for texas too haha, although i really hate the state i live in--florida. it has some redeeming qualities, however.
 
Arkansas, because it's pronounced so different from how it's spelled. 😀

(Hey, what can I say? As a foreigner there's very little I know of the individual states beyond a very broadly stereotypical/prejudiced view of the four "zones" East Coast, West Coast, Midwest and Bible Belt. 🙂 )

That's okay! Pretty much even people who live in the States are going to judging places by their gut reactions from visits or the stereotypes about them. The only really fair way to judge would be to actually live in all 50 and it seems unlikely we'll have a boarder who's lived in all 50.

How is it pronounced? I thought it was Are-can-saw or something. And that´s not totally different in my eyes. *waits to be told how wrong he is*

That's how it is pronounced, yep. But it should by all logic be pronounced are-CAN-sus, like the state with the same name minus two letters!

It's written Luxury Yacht, but you pronounce it Throatwobbler Mangrove.
 
I'm not American or anything, but back in 8th grade in English class we learned that apparently people think Oklahoma sucks. Of course this was the same lessons that was declared than when somebody also explained that 'selfish' means to look like a fish.

Hmm, you mean every other state is pronounced exactly as it should? Never thought of that. I´m swedish. I´m used to things being pronounced in other ways than you think they should. Like Idaho would become Aj/Ay-da-hoo. Since "i" don´t sound the same here. It´s like "ee" in "bee" to try to explain.

if I'm not totally off, you don't speak the second C... but that doesn't hold a candle to Arkansas XD
I can't really say that I have a state ehat I consider to be the "worst," since I've found something enjoyable in any place I've ever been,but I suppose my "least favorite" would be any state cursed by being located north of the Mason/Dixon line. As a Southerner, I was raised to believe that Yankees were to be pitied, not hated.

My gut reaction was Texas, but I know one Texan personally and she seemed to be alright, so I'll not say Texas.

Ever since that dear Palin turned up, I'll say Alaska. Not just because of her, but also because it's a rather dull kind of place in my imagination and it also has an extremely high crime rate. All these deprived sunlovers I guess... So Alaska it is.

Well, I know first hand, having been to all of them expect the states east of Pennsylvania (and hawaii but come on, dude! it's friggin hawaii!), that the worst state is by far is Wyoming.
 
What's with all the Texas hate?

I can't say I like Arkansas all that much....I've been to quite a few states, but not all of them, so I hate to judge when I've never even been there. I HAVE been to Arkansas many times, tho, so I feel qualified to say it sucks!
 
Hey. I was born in Texas. And for all you Bush-haters... there is more to the state than one single man. For instance, I hate New York because of those ever-lasting darned YANKEES. Evil bastards, they. Well, I hate New York for more than that, but still. They have the worst baseball team in the history of baseball teams. 😉

Plus, I'm a libertarian, and New York threatens all that. So does California, but CA is prettier and has nicer weather, and better accents 😉, etc.

Then again, as my Texan aunt-ish person (she's the sister of my uncle who is my uncle through marriage to my dad's sister, talk about complicated things...), "You never a tell a girl she's from Arkansas! Do you know about people from Arkansas? They let goats in their house! And sheep!" 😉 Good ol' Texas vs. Other Nearby States rivalry. 😉
