Which was the most depressing, shocking, and suprising death in the buffyverse?

I'll go with Tara as well. As Lily wrote she was finally in the opening credits and then BANG she was gone. I didn't like her that much in the beginning but I'd really come to love her, so I was so shocked!

Unfortunately I was spoiled w some of the others (not on purpose) eg. Spike. So for him I was just looking forward to HOW he was gonna go...
 
Doyle because all i knew about it when i started watching the reruns was that he didn't make it to the end of the season, so all thoughout the scene in hero before he died i was woundering how'd they manage to save the day, then suddenly Doyle was gone.

after that i was shocked about Tara, Lilah, and was it just me who was surprized Harmoney became a vampire?(of course that was a bit more comical than sad, she just doesn't seem like the evil type)
 
Anya was the one that left me most upset, mainly because of Xander's reaction.... I mean 'that's my girl'?? How cruddy is that! And like you said, no lingering moment over her body.

Also I was very upset about Angel.... he had such a lost look in his eyes as the sword went in. And when he came back I nearly screamed because it was the end of the episode (and, yeah, he was butt nekked) 😉

And am I the only one who actually quite liked Jenny dying? Not 'cos I particularly disliked her..... just 'cos Angelus looked mighty damned sexy when he did it...... aaaah, Angelus..... I miss your evilness

I always felt that Anya deserved a better send off, that's what made it upsetting for me. Tara's was so rough because it was with a gun, which we almost never saw on Buffy or Angel.
 
I never knew any of these people were dying BTW
4th) Jenny Calendar: So sad especially the way that Angelus did that whole thing in Giles' house and add to that the news being broke to everyone. ::crying::
3rd) Tara McClay: Only been in the credits for one eppie and then bang and splat. Dead.
2nd) Buffy Summers: Had no idea. I actually hoped that Dawn would jump and that would make a very different S6. Theonly death that made me cry ::crying:: ::crying:: ::crying::
1st) Joyce Summers: It was just so real and shocking a just couldn't believe it. Also she was neutral. Never fought and was nice to everyone. Even Spike.

Lilah was Wes' girl from W&H. Her death was indeed a shocker, I wish she hadn't died.
