Who could you live without?

Harmony and Kennedy are the first that comes to mind. I guess I can live with Kennedy in a way, I mean she's obnoxious but she kind of has a purpose...

ms. Harmony however - well she was a girl and casting and writers seemed to find her attractive (and for some reason funny, I don't see either) but she was always just a 'filler'. No real point of purpose except to provide the occasional laugh (even if strained). On Angel at the end she mostly seemed to be there to fill the 'girl' quota what with Cordy gone and all... but mostly she was useless there too.

I could definitely have gone 7 years of Buffy and 5 of Angel without ever having seen her... at all.

I personally could have done without Dawn, Angel, Harmony, and Kennedy. But if you want useless to the series as a whole, I'd just go with Kennedy and Harmony. Dawn and Angel served their purposes.
 
Probably Anya. I really enjoyed her in season 4 and 5, even enough to put aside the whole, willingly choosing to kill lots of people that did nothing bad to her thing 😀. Season 6 and 7 she just faded away really. Shame. "Selfless" was brilliant though.
 
Fred. The series would have been so much better if they had left her in Pylea. Or let her leave in Fredless...or you know push her into a volcano.

Eve. They should have just had Lilah. She was amazing, Eve was just an annoying wannabe. Plus I really don't like that actress, she sucks.

Kennedy. I hate most of the potentials but Kennedy is the most annoying, bratty, and I hate her with Willow.

Adam. Lamest. Villain. Ever.
 
Anyone who was introduced later than season 3, i.e. Riley (+Initiative), Dawn, Kennedy, Warren, Andrew... oh, and I have this irrational hatred of Jonathan, even though he was introduced earlier.
 
Kennedy. I don't like her. 🙁
What is she supposed to be? Some kind of Tara-replacement? Forget it.
I could easily live without her. To be honest, I'd like to live without her.

But the only characters I'd really miss are Buffy, Willow, Xander and Giles.
 
I waited a while to do my list for this because I know that the shows wouldn't be better without every character I dislike. So this is the list I've got of people the shows would have been better without:

-Fred: She made the show a thousand times less interesting to me. There was something about her that bugged me. Granted, it didn't bug me as much the first time I saw it... but she made the show less interesting.. And her "love triangle" was awful and bordered on disgusting to me. It made me dislike both Gunn and Wesley too. And I actually liked their characters...

-Kennedy. I get they had to have a potential that asked the hard questions... but Kennedy did more than that. Kennedy acted like she knew better than Buffy and they NEVER had her get her ass kicked.. Faith's little thing towards her wasn't enough. If the writers wanted to have a character like Kennedy, they needed to show her taking initiative and getting shut down... I would have preferred Kennedy go off and try to kill someone (a bringer, a vamp, an ubervamp) and get her ass kicked, Buffy jumps in and saves her just in time and then she falls in line, asking the tough questions but respecting Buffy's authority and credibility to be an authority figure and to make the plans and have the answers. What they did when they had her not respect any of that, is she didn't respect Buffy's slayerhood. And we're supposed to believe she would respect her own? So I don't object to the idea of a Kennedy like figure... I just think she was handled all wrong. Also, they should have made Willow turn her down if they wanted to make her gay.

-Rona. They already had Kennedy... did they need another snot nosed disrespecting potential? She was funny for the first couple seconds... and then she got REAL old. Like I said, I get the point of a potential asking the hard questions... but that was Kennedy's job. What did Rona add to the table other than MORE negativity? I hate people who can't be positive about ANYTHING. And that's Rona in a nutshell.

-Faith post season 3. If they wanted to do a reform story with her, they should have had her join Angel's gang instead of Fred. Since they didn't, her story was pretty awful.

-Jasmine. This needs no explanation. Everyone's well aware that's the worst arc on Ats.

Honesty, these are the only people I think made the shows worse.

I could do without: Spike, Cordelia, Dawn, Clem, Jenny, Kennedy, and Warren. Not that they aren't good actors, I just didn't really like the characters much. I don't think I really need to explain why, either.

I'd be okay with just Buffy, Angel, Willow, Tara, Xander, Anya, and Giles, tbh.
 
In addition to Riley, but for different reasons: Andrew, Robin Wood, Dawn (after season 5) and any of the potentials. It's not that I dislike any of the characters (sure Kennedy annoyed me and Dawn had her irritating moments, but I don't hate them, and I loved Andrew). But I think that one of the major flaws in S7 was the pure overload of characters that meant that many important characters got shafted to the sidelines because there just wasn't enough room. I could live without these extra characters, even if it meant losing Storyteller, if instead we could get proper focus on the main core four Scoobies.
 
I'd say the potentials. I would have loved S7 more if it focused on fixing the relationships between the characters.
 
I could be without anyone but the title character. The show/shows wouldn't be the same and if we're mentioning minor characters we could go on all day. As for the importance of Dawn. Would Buffy had given her life for a puppy? Go through all what she did? I'm not as sure but I don't expect the ones disliking Dawn to change their minds. To each their own. Kennedy? Without her Willow hadn't come to terms with herself and never been able to share the slayer power to all potentials. I'm sure all the haters can come up with some other way for her to get there but as the story is written now...

Angel hadn't been close to the same without Cordelia but it might still be a show I like without her.

I'd love to see her join the Angel gang but not instead of Fred. Fred brought something else to the gang. Faith had been the muscle wich Gunn and Angel (although also being the leader) already were.

I think the idea behind the Jasmine arc is a great and interesting one. Happy people with no free will and a few deaths versus a pretty bad world with less happy people and way more deaths but with a free will. It could have been done better though.
 
I could live without Eve. Totally useless and freaking annoying character. What the hell were they thinking pairing her up with Lindsey? No way he would fall for such a futile girl. Diaf Eve.

I could also live without the potentials. I wasn't a big fan of the whole plot with them in s7. The last season should have focused on the core characters, considering it was ending then... Might as well do it right, huh?!

Oh and there is Parker. I could have lived without that douchebag hurting Buffy.

Depends. If the question is: "If they rebooted the show, which characters could be removed?" Then the answer is all but Buffy. If the question is, "If you had to go back and take characters out, who would you remove?" Then my answer is anyone but Buffy, Giles, Xander, Willow, and Angel.
