Who here agrees w/ me that S1 is the best season in AtS?

I think that Season 1 is the best. Not just bc of Doyle but I love cordi when she is like all high school cordi. She is too funny! Season two is pretty good. But they keep going downhill. Season 5 is pretty good though. With Spike and Angel! Too funny!
 
Season 5 is by far my favourite, no question. But I'm not sure whether S1 would come second. I rewatch it the most because there's always a one-off episode that I feel like. But at the time I thought that there wasn't enough of a general plot, I mean Vocrah (is that right?) didnt even come into the series till the end but he was still the big bad of the series (not classing W&H as a big bad). I really loved Doyle (great to see him play a part in S5, even without Glenn) but my order goes:

I haven't seen the end of season 1 yet but to me it was kinda.. well, I don't even realy know what it's about. That might have something to do with the fact that I watched season 1 over year and season 2-4 during four days, but still. There are some great episode in season 1, and I like parts of it but.. I know that when I started watching I had to remind myself that "It will get better, this is only the beginning, hold on Epo, the great episodes will come".
 
Season 1 of Angel is most definitely my favorite, but I can't pinpoint exactly why. I guess it's just because I like the way that Angel Investigations started and how all the characters came together.
 
Angel just got better and better for me, so season 1 is not my favourite, I didn't dislike it, but it wasn't until the end of season 2 that I really realized how great the show is..
 
this is my second favorite season my first is season 5. th eonly episode i dont like in this season is i will rememeber you
 
Season 1 was the best and it kept going down and down and down... And full stopped at the buttom. Unfortunately. 🙁

I couldn't disagree less, for me series 4 was a big disappointment on so many levels, but series 5 was a massive high for it to finish on.

Funny how tastes change so much. I find it more the case with Buffy, I can see why people don't like series 4, depite it being my favourite. But how can people think Buffy ended on a high?? It pains me to watch series 7, I don't think I could have liked it less.

Looking through this thread I think at least we all agree that series 1 of Angel was very good. I guess there wasn't much reason to dislike it.

It pains me to watch Season 6.
 
I love season 1 but I was really, really, really mad with the death of Doyle. I know they were going to kill him off anyway but they got impatient and did it too quick. And the Scourge wasn't a good enough enemy!

Season 2 was awesome, with Cordy going to Pylea... 'Look! There's some branches over there in that patch of sunlight! ... I'll get 'em!'

Season 3 was ... interesting... I loved Birthday, which brought tears to my eyes with Doyle...

Season 4 was a mystery, and I adored the episodes with Faith and Angelus, which were brilliant. The episode 'Home' made me sob at the end with Connor (who I never liked) but it was still a good season with intrigue that made me need to watch every episode in one night.

Season 5 was hilarious and even though there were some weird and pointless episodes, they were funny. I especially loved 'The Girl In Question'.

In my opinion, all of the seasons, in general, were awesome. Some episodes I could've done without but all in all, awesome.

It ended too soon, I tell ya.
 
Season Four is my favorite by far. The only season I *didn't* like that much was the third...that hunter guy was quite boring.
 
I enjoyed Season 1 but I wouldn't say it was the best. I enjoyed Season 2 more!

I liked how the characters were introduced and I thought it had some good episodes, but for me Angel got better and better and I feel that I can't say it was a favourite when other seasons are more enjoyable for me.
 
Season one was a good'n for me - espeically Fiva by Five and Sanctuary.

I disliked season four, not including the episodes with Faith and Gwen lol. I just didn't like Connor or evil Cordelia.
 
Although season 1 is great, I don't think it's the best season. Here's how it goes for me.

Season 3- My favorite season. I loved it.
Season 4- Evil Cordy, The Beast, Faith, and Willow. What more could you want?
Season 1- Where it all began. My third favorite.
Season 5- Spike was great here. Illyria and Harmony were very good too.
Season 2- Has a lot of great episodes but I'm not a big season 2 fan.
 
Though S3 is my favourite, I have actually seen season 1 the most. The standalone format makes it easy to pick one or two episodes without having to follow the urge to watch a whole arc, like in the other seasons lol.
I love to watch brooding Angel, snippy Cordy and clumsy Wes bonding, becoming a family. I like the recurring themes throughout the first season:

- The importance of redemption in various degrees to any of the characters
- Angel is tempted in different episodes to give up his mission for an easy way out
- Coping with the past and past decisions

There isn't a single episode that I don't like. Some are weak in terms of the Monster Of The Week but every single character scene between Angel, Cordy, Doyle and Wes is funny, interesting, warmhearted and meaningful. At the end of the season Angel has a new family, people he cares about and that care about him, that are loyal and align themselves with his mission, the prospect of the shanshu gives him hope. All in all a wonderful first season.
 
Well Season 3 would have to be my fav. I like how alot of different things went on throughout this season. Including Cordys ascension and mainly because of Angel and Cordelia growing closer!!! Go Cangel!!!!!
