Who is Your inspiration?

Are you by any chance a musician Rob? or maybe just wanna be? 🙂

Little bit of both. I used to sing in a band at college but we didn't really put the effort in to make it in any way successful. I live for music though and despite my life not really letting me follow my dreams i've always wanted to have a career in the music business. The people i mentioned above are all big heroes of mine, the first five in particular.

Definitely more wannabe than gonnabe these days though! 😉

Thats cool. I have no musical talent whatsoever so I have to rely on my boyfriend to become the rockstar (he plays guitar) and make me rich and famous 🙂

Hehe, yeah! Waaaay easier! ;)
I take inspiration in his ambition.

No. What he saw was a better world. How to get there was sick and twisted.

I understand that inspiration in ambiton, what I don't understand is why Hitler. Plenty of peopel have had ambition and vision. I just don;t understand how you could look up to him as a person. And I probably never will. So I'm going to stop trying to.

But anyway...I realized I got all worked up and never said anything about my inspiration. I have so many people who inspire me from my trainer to Claude Thompson..who is often referred to as the person who made the Appaloosa one of America's classic breeds...to Sarah Richards...an amazing equestrain artist whos talent I only wish I had..
Of course all my inspirations are people in the equestrian field...

so with you billiH!
Had it not been for Stalin, there is a good chance Hitler would have succeeded. And Stalin was easily as 'evil' as Hitler, if not more so.
If being responsible for many people's death is being "evil", then sure yes, Stalin was more evil. I don't believe in evil anyways, which is why I agree with this:

Hitler was trying to make a better world. Also, antisemitism was rife throughout Europe in that time period. I'm sure had he been French he would have used the same tactic to rise to power, and it more than likely would have worked. Hitler didn't instigate hatred of Jews, he just latched onto it. He used it to his advantage. Ultimately, Hitler learned from the twisted world around him. That people lay the blame solely at his feet is just bullshit.
I fear I would have been a nazi if I lived during this time.. It was obviously really common to have these thoughts/opinions back then, and Hitler was far from the only person responsible.. and that had little to do with people being too scared to not follow orders.

Anyways, this is all too interesting/creepy to me and I've had people misunderstanding my posts before.. on this subject.. (That's how my friendship with Frenchy Faith started 😀 ) So I'm not going into it, and I would still agree with the people who have said there are better examples of people who have been the kind of inspiration you're talking about...

Aanyways, I forgot to mention Anna Jörgensdotter! A Swedish author who was a great inspiration to me a few years back when I was writing this book and stuff... Her language is great and helped me figure out how I wanted to write and stuff.. she's cool..

Sure Hitler has a vision, he had ambition, he had a dream of a better world.. but for who? it sure wasn't for everyone. it was for the selected few.. the once who measured up. Many people have had ambitions, many people have had visions... some even live it, act it out and make their dreams come true, but that doesn't ness. make it a good thing.

There are so many people to admire. Hitler, Stalin etc etc etc shouldn't be one of them. sure you can admire ambition, or admire drive, but to admire a certain persons drive.. And when that drive/dream/ambition have killed so many people then...

How about Martin Luther king? Sure if Hitler had a better ambition (then a "better world") he might have been able to do some good"¦. But he didn't"¦ he really really didn't. and there are people alive to day, who suffered under his drive for power and a "better world"

Oh and to FIVERs: propaganda comment"¦ do you believe holocaust was propaganda too?

I think that some people-i.e. not everyone who say it and not saying Fiver. but some people say that they admire Hitler cause they want the attention, the comments from others. Maybe stir things up

Also, personally, I just have so strong feelings about the ww2"¦ I think it's so blasted wrong to list Hitler for personal inspiration.. I don't care if it's his drive, ambition or goal oriented ness you list as attributes.. I think its awful"¦ 1. many people died"¦ many people died horrible deaths 2.there are so many other people to choose from"¦. People who have achieved GREAT things. But if you admire Hitler then you admire Hitler"¦.

I forgot to list another personal inspiration"¦. Dorothy parker. Sure she was depressed; she tried to kill herself like 3 times, but what a poet! I think her poetry is so amazing; she really had a great talent.

Nils Christie: a Norwegian criminologist, he as such an insight, such an understanding of other people. I really admire that. I admire that he can look beyond, he can look deeper into things and he can understand things

I write a lot (poetry) and I tend to admire poets, song writers etc. and there are some really great song writers out there. I admire people who have that gift, or are able to but emotions and experiences into perfect wording. Poems/songs that just nail it!(e.g. rilo kiley: better son/daughter.. that's one good song)

My lil sis and lil bro. strong people. Good people. :flower2: :love2:

I think most people do, in one way or another. (Not everyone of course, but most people, even some who have no connection what so ever to anyone who was actually in any way part of what happened.) Which is why it is still difficult to discuss/talk about in a "normal" way. I'm not saying we should take it less seriously, definitely not, just saying people tend to react strongly as soon as you mention anything having to do with this.. and yeah.. I'm going nowhere apparently with this.. Just.. yeah..

No proof has ever been found of Hitler physically killing another human being. 😉 As a person I have read reports that he was a gentleman. Doesn't seem too bad a bloke!
So answer me this question. If I tell you to jump off a bridge, and you jump off and die!
Is it my fault for telling you to, or your fault for being stupid?

I fear I would have been a nazi if I lived during this time..

AHAHA Jew hater! 😉

Napolean? Alexander the great?

Mandella is regarded as a modern hero, or rolemodel, or whatever. Yet he used terrorist tactics and killed people. Should I look to him for my inspiration?

As cheesy as it sounds my inspiration in life is my Aunt. She's has Cystic Fibrosis the same disease her brother died from she grew up in foster care and was told she could never have kids this was her lifelong dream. When she tried to adopt they wouldn't let her because of her illness but here she is now with two beautiful children she knows she won't be able to watch grow up but she doesn't care as long as they're happy. I love her very much.

Remember people that just because someone shares a different opinion than you, it doesn't mean they don't have a right to have that opinion.

Fiver, i may not share your reasoning and who you look for admiration, but you have the right to look up to Hitler.

Heck people, as long as he isn't going out and killing Jews and Gays and giving an evil eye to a Black man winning an Olympic Gold in his country while the world is watching, then who are all you people to judge him.

No one here is suggesting that Hitler was correct in his plans, but what Fiver is saying is that he admires him for the fact he had a goal in life and fought for it. That to me, is something worth aspiring for. Doesnt mean i'm a racist.
Hitler is possibly one of the biggest names of the 20th century, with a huge influence, yet the mere mention of his name makes people(who weren't even alive during his time on this Earth) shy away from him.

Now, my inspiration is George W. Bush.
He is the leader of a powerful nation.
Has drive and ambition.
Not afraid to attack another country to get their resources.
Declares illegal wars on nations he knows NOT powerful enough to defend themselves.
Wasn't originally the one meant for power.
And Finally people 'misunderestimate' him.......

NOOOO!
Don't give up!

See passed what the victors dictate to you. Use that innate instinct that tells you to jump off the bridge would be wrong. Do not feel, perceive.

Ignore what your heart tells you, it lies. 1 innocent murdered is no different from 12 million, because to believe there is a difference, is to condone the lesser. Death is the absolute finality to all things. Hitler had no bloodlust, no desire to kill, to hate. He killed no people. His only true crimes were ignorance and nationalism.

Wrong on many accounts.
First of all, do you even know what Hitler's original plan was? He wanted to unite Germany, restore its pride, and have it be the biggest power in the world. That asshole, lets go piss on his grave!
Secondly, Hitler never killed anybody, it is a fact. There is NO evidence to suggest otherwise. BUT, clearly that his people killed should all be blamed on him"¦ Lets get a witch hunt going for Bush!
Bush had a plan, to wipe out "terrorism". At least, the terrorism that he will benefit from. He initially got people to see his side of view, through silly speeches on national pride, and defending the country, and never resting until all terrorism had been wiped out. While his rhetoric is not nearly up to Hitler's standards, its still effective. Let us not forget that America has in the past funded many of these terrorist organisations. Now, for the purpose of freedom, PEACE and liberty, they will INVADE countries which they suspect are now backing terrorist organizations. UN-****ING -BELIEVABLE.

And Hitler was not the leader, in the sense that, he told them Jews were evil, lets kill them. Very much the other way about, Hitler was following the feelings of the people. In fact, it is suspected that even in power, the Nazis were more influenced by the people than the other way about. Germans wanted Jews out of Germany. Hitler followed the wishes of his people.

Oh, so when American soldiers were torturing Iraqis, that was a specific order from Bush? The idea of "work camps" was not started by Hitler. Hitler wanted Jews out of Germany. If I remember correctly, he wrote in Mein Kampf that he was somewhat inspired by the American ethnic cleansing of the natives. Genocide of the Jews was not decided by Hitler. Hitler wasn't even at the conference where the "final solution" was apparently decided. Any suggestion that he authorized it, or it was his decision, is a lie. (According to the facts)

Haha, funny stuff, Polexia!
The "lies"?

Historians tell you that the Nazi government was chaotic, there was very little order, members just did what they pleased, and when questioned, replied that it was the will of Hitler. Without ever actually asking or having it authorized by Hitler. We are also told, Hitler was lazy, he woke at noon, liked to waste his time watching movies at night, had little time for details, etc etc..

So, if the Nazi party was so without order, or construct, then where the hell do the allies find all these documents specifying plans and designs by the nazis? Explicit documents on the final solution, and the extermination of so many Jews, and other minorities. If the Nazis were so without planning or actual order, why do these documents exist? Whose idea was it? Not Hitler's, he was too busy sleeping and watching movies"¦"¦"¦And if these documents truly existed in the first place, which I doubt they did, why weren't they destroyed before the Allies took Berlin? Not enough time? Please, Germany lost the war long before the Russians came beating on Berlin. All documents, should/would have been destroyed, if they ever existed.

I actually watched a programme yesterday as it happens about Nazi Germany. One German had this to say. (totally paraphrasing, but it was something like this)

"The first time I met Hitler, I was startled by the beautiful nature of the man. I thought, this is a good man, and I'm proud to have met him. I never once witnessed any of the evil he is associated with."

Lets face it, America has always been an imperialistic country, they're just damn sneaky about it. America is a nation that is orientated towards military and political hegemony over the rest of the world, and as it is losing it's stranglehold on power, desperate actions are necessary. And the East is looking greedily on America, it wants its power, and sees America as weak.
Americans think the world revolves around them, truly believing they have the greatest country in the world. Its that sort of arrogant pride that epitomized Nazi Germany. The single member does not matter, it's the country as a whole that's important, the rest of the world be damned. We can see this from America, with simple things like, having children read the pledge of allegiance every day in school (which I find is a truly disturbing method of almost brainwashing). Or using Fox to spread pro Bush propaganda. A country where large corporations are merged with the interests of the government. All much like Mussolinis idea of fascism.
How does America maintain power over the rest of the world?
Peace keeping missions that America has engaged in have the tendency to replace local governments with pro American ones..
Bush is hypocritical, advocating a "free Market" in other nations but creating protectionist laws and barriers in America.

They are arrogant, they truly believe they can go where they want and force their beliefs on anyone. I'd like to see them invade a real nation, like China or Russia, they'd get pwned.

You may all have your issues, but you cannot deny the fact that Hitler was a great leader.

Quoted for truth, justice, the American way!

Must say I completely agree on the 1 innocent murdered thing...because 1 or 1 million...its still murder...not so sure on the Hitler had no bloodlust thing...maybe not but I'm not Hitler...thank god...so I can't say what he did or did not think.

However...I still give up.

fiver: you are a sad read.. i'm sure too belive a hitorian, a sociologist, a political/ethic philosopher over your bad arguments! there are so many people who wortk on this field, reacherching hitler, speer, himler eichman... the holocaust... they see so many things about hitler and ww2 and natzis that you can't see(or that you see and deny)

do you know how many people have died as a result of hitlers orders?

sure hitler might have given the peopel what they "wanted", but there is a big difference between driving jews out of germany and killing them, making them less then human (a part of natzi strat was to remove there humanety, and focus on their negative side)

do you know why they stoped shooting jews and started to gas them? b/c they saw it as a very unhuman act, but not for the jews, they weren't human, for the people who had to shoot them.

do you know that speer once said that Hitler, when he got the message that german towns were being bombed and german arian people died, he wasn't moved at all... he was how ever moved when buildings, especialy theaters, were destroyed... all in all in the raceteaching(geramn arian on the top jews on the bottom) even the arian men and women were only instruments to keep the race going and growing...

hitler idn't only want jews out of germany(sorry wish of the peopel) hw wanted them dead... rediculed and killed... dehumanised... ever jew should died the min he/she was born.. cause they were unworthy...

you might think that bauman is bias.. but want are you and your likes?

sure you have the right to your opinon... and i'm right to mine

you're coment about looking at one thing, one moment and then yeah hitler is eveil.. you know that's not what i'm doing! not at all.. i know there are alot of people who did alot of horrible things, and they had to acount for that, this is not an argument about an of them, this is about you and your bad argumant for why hitler can be acounted as a hero.... as personal inspiration.. do you really thing your arguments for liking his ambition is valid?

also i think you are turning a blind side to all the horrible things that hitler has done... the things he has orderd done...

you might like were he started off, but you can't say that thats all he is.. thats all he's done cause he hasn't... in sept 1939 he ordered that all mental patiants were to be killed, cause they were a liablilty, 70 000 was killed...

he might have acted on the wish of the people..

oh and don't think for a second that i don't know how it satrted, how he rose to poercause i do..

i'm sorry if i have offended someone!!!

No one is arguing that Hitler didn't do lots of bad things, read Buffy Summers' post hun :)
All I have to say right here, is that it seems like you have not actually read what F has acutally said...whcih is what he said he admired in Hitler...one specific quality...but have created an argument about something which I don't think anyone is having a discussion about.

I just wonder why this is the one person where their comment turned into an argument...when no one argued against anyone else's choice?
